Let me start by saying this is a family-owned and operated restaurant in the heart of mission texas with over 15 years of being the best in class for Mission Mexican food HANDS DOWN!! The service is unbeatable, friendly staff always greet you and check if your food is up to the quality and ok! I have been going here for over 10 years and let me tell you the quality of food is delicious and the plates are generous!! Can almost eat two people per entree. We came in for a late breakfast after reading the positive Yelp reviews. Service was fast and efficient. The food was pretty good too. I had chillaquillies with chicken, topped with two eggs, over easy. The meal came with a small serving of fried potatoes, a side of refried beans and three tortillas - corn was my choice. Everything was good. Not spectacular but a good solid Mexican breakfast. The wife chose Chicken botanas which looks like fajitas to me - slices of grilled chicken heaters in a cast iron skillet with onions and bell peppers. It came with beans and guacamole along with three tortillas. She enjoyed her breakfast/brunch. The coffee was decent and our cups remained filled. The price was rather good too. The total for two meals and two coffees was about $21. The botanas was $12 alone so the coffee and chillaquillies was really reasonable. If we weren't going back on a low carb eating plan soon, I'd margined we'd eat hear regularly. Sadly most Mexican food is not low carb. But you should check it out. read more

Second time coming in and it's just as good! Their steak tacos came with beans and a loaded baked potato for just $10! Super filling and the meat was tender! We stopped by this establishment a few months back and all I can say is forget all the other, better known family-owned eateries in the city because this place is the only one you need to know about. The food is always fresh-tasting and the service is always friendly. This place is a very popular Winter Texan eatery but is well.worth a visit. The "Reserved" tables you may see are for local law enforcement, a nice touch. There is no anti-gun signage at this establishment so diners can eat in peace. read more

I went to Diaz diner for breakfast 2 or 3 times after church. It was always crowded and worth the wait and I'd rate it a 5. Tonight we went for dinner and it was a disappointment. Hence the 3 stars an average if the breakfast meals and the dinner one. The chips were rather tasteless as well as the salsa. The enchiladas were ok and the parilladdillo had tough steak with bones, just ok chicken, and good sausage. But all tasted and looked greasy. The maragarita could have used more tequila. All was served on plastic plates and the thin one ply napkins had to be pulled from the dispenser in the table. I'll go back for breakfast but never for dinner. read more

This is the absolute worst place I've ever been to in the RGV. I went for 4 fajita tacos almost and hour later and no response from the drive thru. I am forced to get out of my car and go inside to get my order. I was charged almost 30 dollars for the 4 tacos. I talk to the elderly woman up front and told hurt that I ordered for tacos from the drive-thru. My meal had been sitting in the heat lamps for no telling how long she goes to hand them to me the beans are crusty looking like they have just came out of a microwave. I explained to her that I didn't order fajita Taco plates that I ordered for individually wrap tacos. She takes the food to the back hand it to one of the cook and tells him that I didn't want the plate that I just wanted to for tacos and to back them up. At that point they back up the tacos and I asked her it will I don't want the tacos anymore they've been sitting there forever I would just like a refund and go home. She threw the tacos at me and and told me here are your tacos I already have your money so just take them. I didn't get a refund for anything even though I was overcharged for my food to begin with. And still was not refunded the difference. And after she'd told me to go the people in the back and the other gentleman there started laughing. I've never felt so embarrassed humiliated and robbed. And I am going to place this same exact review on every review board I can find. I don't know how to review this restaurant. It was truly the worst mexican food I have ever had. In a town with fantastic, cheap mexican food on every street corner, I can't imagine why anyone would eat mexican here. However, they also had american diner-type food and specials, that seemed to be great. Hubby had the Friday fish special, and it was really great. And the place was totally packed (admittedly, the average age in the room was 80+), but still, with that many people, literally standing room only, there must be something good about the place. My favorite Mexican food restaurant on the planet. My family started coming here when I was about 12 years old. Now, even if it's not a normal time for a meal, it's the first place I want to go after getting off the plane when I come to town to visit. I've never ordered something I didn't like. The American food is delicious, especially the cheeseburger. My uncle is also partial to their chicken fried steak. Having said that, though, I've ordered the same thing for the last probably 9 or 10 years. The wait staff doesn't even ask what I want or bring me a menu (side note: that's another thing I love, it's like a great neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name, your order, and you consider the staff a friend). They just bring me the Nachos Supreme. I can't describe them, just go order some. You're welcome in advance.
