A Naturopathic Doctor's Honest Assessment: Cindy Sholes and the Mind Wave Institute Are in a…read moreCategory of Their Own As a licensed naturopathic doctor with 22 years of clinical experience in Menlo Park, CA, I have an extensive referral network and have evaluated nearly every healing modality available. I refer patients to the best practitioners across disciplines -- acupuncture, functional medicine, somatic therapy, neurofeedback, and beyond. Cindy Sholes at the Mind Wave Institute now sits at the very top of that list. What sets Cindy apart is not just her results -- it's the speed and precision with which she gets to the root of an issue. In all my years of practice, I have rarely seen a technique that cuts through the noise so quickly and produces such measurable, lasting shifts. Her method, rREST (Rapid Reprogramming of Emotional Stress Technique), does what years of other therapies often cannot. I can speak to this both professionally and personally. My husband and my son have both worked with Cindy, and the transformations they each experienced were profound -- in areas where nothing else had made a dent. And then there is my own experience. I have been navigating a particular issue for nearly 20 years. I have tried many approaches over those two decades -- as you might expect from someone who has devoted their entire career to healing. Nothing moved the needle. Since working with Cindy, I am experiencing real, tangible change in that area of my life for the very first time. That is not something I take lightly, and it is not something I say easily. I have since begun referring my own patients to Cindy with confidence, particularly those carrying deep-seated emotional patterns, trauma responses, or stress-driven physical symptoms that conventional and even integrative medicine hasn't fully resolved. The results speak for themselves. If you are skeptical -- and as a doctor, I understand skepticism -- start with her book Triggered: From Reaction to Resilience, which she co-authored and is available now on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Triggered-Reaction-Resilience-Ariel-Balfour-ebook/dp/B0GX2QKPQX It will give you the framework to understand why rREST works at a neurological level, and once you understand the mechanism, you'll want to experience it yourself. Cindy Sholes and the Mind Wave Institute in Menlo Park are the real deal. Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship patterns, or stress-related health challenges, this is the work that moves the needle when nothing else has. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Session by session I learned how to release beliefs that didn't serve me but not from my mind but from my body. I didn't rationalize them away nor did they disappear. Forgiveness is not what it was. Instead, I just don't feel reactive. This has given me the space to create a new life that I love. I'll always be profoundly grateful for the novel and easy way that Dr. Cindy helped me release pain and feel accompanied by her kindness, incredible insight and compassion.

I…read moredidn't realize how much I needed therapy at the time, and I was a bit skeptical of talk therapy in general, but after a couple sessions with Adina, I became convinced that this was exactly what I needed. Adina is an amazing therapist and is really great at asking the right questions to help me identify my thought patterns and where they came from. She listens with compassion and empathy. I came to her with a dismissive attitude towards myself and my own emotional well-being, but she was able to help me understand that I deserve love and that my feelings deserve to be heard. She is also incredibly knowledgeable in her field, and I ended up learning quite a bit about psychology just from our conversations about how my mind worked. I ended almost every session feeling inspired and having learned a little bit more about myself. Working with Adina is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking therapy or support during difficult times.

I had never been to therapy but a quick yelp search helped me to find her. I hope that this review can help to do the same for others. I came in a bit skeptical of therapy in general, but willing to put myself out there. Adina welcomed me with open arms, and there wasn't a day I felt uncomfortable talking to her about my innermost problems. I visited Adina weekly for 5 years. In that time, she helped me to work through various problems in my life. We discussed my relationships, work, goals and deep seated traits of my personality that I had not fully realized before. These conversations allowed me to develop a successful framework on how to not only manage problems in my life, but propel it forward to heights I could have only dreamed of before. This may sound like an exaggeration, but I write this from my home office as an entrepreneur. I have a great, lasting relationship and live in San Francisco. These were all goals that Adina and I set in our practice. Through hard work, tears, and consistancy I have been able to carve my own path, and I have no doubt that my life will be enriched because of the time I spent in therapy. If you are reading this review, chances are that you are thinking about going to Therapy. Please, just try it out. There are few things in life that will give you the ROI of seeing a therapist. Invest in yourself. If you do decide to go, I would highly, highly recommend that you talk to Dr. Adina Klein.

I had given up hope and resigned myself to living in a constant state of tension and distress which negatively affected my family as well. I was hesitant to try this type of treatment but decided to take a chance given Dr. Herman's excellent reputation. I was impressed by the entire patient experience. Everything from the immaculate office, to the warm and comforting treatment rooms, to the integration workbook are very well thought-out. The IV ketamine treatments are done on comfortable loungers with effective eyeshades and curated music. I hardly ever saw anyone else in the office during my visits, and when I did, it all still felt very private and discreet. After receiving the Stellate Ganglion Block and 6 IV ketamine treatments, I am finally feeling a relief and calm that I didn't think I would ever experience again. The thing that sets Dr. Herman apart is that she truly wants you to get to a healthy state that lasts. I decided to do the Stellate Ganglion Block first, since it is the "hard reset" to calm an overactive nervous system. Dr. Herman performed the procedure flawlessly and explained things every step of the way. I felt deep relief and relaxation after the procedure which lasted for many months. It was incredible. At no point did Dr. Herman push for any further treatments, she let me decide based on how I felt. In fact, she said that I should first work up other health issues, to make sure that I was starting from an optimal state of physical health before additional treatments. It turns out that she was right, and I discovered some breathing issues that were likely impacting my sleep and, in turn, impacting my mental state. My anxiety was much improved but still present, so I decided to try the ketamine. I opted for the recommended 6 week protocol since I wanted to maximize the benefit and not just get partial improvement. I'm glad I did, because after this 6th treatment, I have had a breakthrough. I responded to a recurring stressful situation at home from a place of calm and equanimity instead of the usual reactivity. It was a major shift in my approach to a difficult life stressor and has noticeably improved the dynamic in my household. I am now on a good path to a better life, something I never would have thought possible. Dr. Herman is the ideal practitioner for this work because she combines excellent technical skills with a deep understanding of psychological healing. Her assistant Shade is also a warm and welcoming presence and provides additional much needed support. I feel very grateful to live in a place and time where a professional like Dr. Herman can provide this life-changing service for those in distress. She has the skills and the best intentions to relieve suffering and improve lives. I feel like I have been rescued from drowning. If you are suffering in silence, Dr. Herman can help you. Her work is benefitting not just me, but my family and friends, and others I come across. I am deeply grateful.

I have tried many treatments for my general anxiety and gone to many different in person therapists. I finally decided to give Soft Reboot Wellness a try and I am so grateful that I did. Dr Sara Herman made me feel immediately comfortable at her practice and answered any questions that I had. I have been going to her office in Menlo Park for ketamine therapy and recently had a Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) for my anxiety. I had been looking all over the bay area for an integrative medicine practice like this one. Every session for my ketamine therapy was unique and included a post treatment call with her incredible assistant, Shade. From the moment you walk into the center, you feel at ease. I knew exactly what would happen and when which helped me feel comfortable. The first ketamine therapy relieved my ongoing anxiety symptoms for 3 months after my treatment before I returned for another. The deeply personal work done in treatment was supported by Dr Herman's warmth and understanding. I felt so seen and validated by what came up for me during treatment. After about a year, I told Dr Sara Herman that I was still having some panic attacks and anxiety around day to day tasks. That is when she suggested a Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB). She explained what the procedure entailed and Shade gave me a call a week prior to go over what was expected before/after. Once I left Soft Reboot Wellness with my SGB, I felt a huge sense of relief wash over me. I hadn't realized how much my anxiety impacted my every day and every thought. Over the next week, I encountered so many situations that would've triggered a panic attack, but I was able to navigate past them smoothly. I even started to have deeper sleep and felt it easier to work through my daily emotions. I am forever indebted to Soft Reboot Wellness for truly changing the way I move through the world. I am so grateful to have found something that works so well for my mind, body, and soul.

The staff at Guide is welcoming and felt supportive initially, but I agree with other reviewers that, unfortunately, they are not well organized and seemed understaffed. I was told when I called that they have support and space for homework; they don't. We had to ask for the first meeting with the psychiatrist, because nothing was scheduled for the first 2 weeks; even after that, we had to ask for regular meetings to review medication. No family meeting or official updates on the progress. Our son had another crisis, which led to hospitalization, after his therapist, unprofessionally, told him he was diagnosed with schizophrenia (just an "hypothesis" as she clarified to him, but the damage was done already...) On top of all that, they took the money in advance for the out-of-network deductible, and after more than a month, they still haven't filed the claim with the insurance.

This location just opened in April and it seems to us they may need to gain some more experience. Guide started off very welcoming and empathetic, but after a few weeks, we felt the communication was lacking. It took weeks for my child to be assigned an individual therapist and we never received family therapy which was supposed to be a part of the program. It was clear they were not as skilled at helping my child as we had hoped. Guide dismissed my child saying they needed a higher level of care but our instinct said something else was going on with this facility. What my child really needed was connection. My child has been attending a different program for the last few weeks in San Jose and they are thriving. The difference in care has been amazing.
