The owners John and Ray were absolutely fantastic to work with, they were extremely detailed and attentive, which was super helpful since we live in a different state. They were never annoyed with our questions and provided great details, not to mention their package was very competitive given it comes with the food (available for upgrade) and an awesome DJ! We ended up booking our photographer, videographer and the photobooth from the DJ's company and they had the special pricing for castle unicorn as well! It was raining on our wedding day which was not how I would've preferred, but John and Ray immediately switched to the indoor plan B and all of our guests ended up having a blast, and everyone thought the misty view made the ceremony even dreamier! One of our guests was in a wheelchair at the time and called for assistance and the owners arranged it for her right away. If you want a hassle free wedding with a complete package and a super attentive venue to work with, I recommend castle unicorn 200%!

It's an easy to access location in northwest Omaha at 132nd & Fort and has a large parking lot. The venue is available to book for events such as weddings, family reuinions, corporate conferences, etc. According to their website they have a large and a small banquet room which together can accomodate 525-600 people. I had opportunity to visit at the recent Festa Italiana which the AIHS hosts every year as their major fundraiser. It was spacious, clean, modern, attractive and I really appreciated the large, clean women's restrooms. I did not see the kitchen but I've heard from a good source (one of the members of the AIHS) that's it's wonderful and since they used it to cook all that food for the Festa, they would know!

The building itself is clean and has a neat design and look both inside and out. I could see why this ranks highly as a venue. The lunch buffet is fairly popular and seems to have a regular crowd. They serve Italian and American fare for the same price as Golden Corral. The ingredients seemed decent, the food looks good, but the taste. Oh the taste! Where have you gone! The service is OK, though me and my buddies had weird experiences with one of their bus boys (not really a boy, more like a 60 year man). It was off-putting to say the least. It gets a big, fat Meh from me, at least for the lunch buffet.

The contract includes the reception and caterer, and the venue itself was beautiful. Unfortunately, the caterer (Mangia Italiana) really let us down, and they are the main reason I'm giving this a one-star review. The food was bad: the pasta was overcooked, the salad was terrible, and the dinner rolls were hard. The servers also had attitudes. Much of the food was left uneaten by the guests. While guests were still eating, the servers had already started clearing tables, making it feel like people were being rushed to finish food that wasn't even edible. I promised my daughter I wouldn't say anything, but we recently ate at Mangia Italiana, and it was another disappointment.

There were enough tables so seating wasn't an issue. Everything was clean. The bar had a good selection and the bartenders were really nice. I believe the family catered in Primo's and the food was really good. All in all, the venue was a great place to hold a Celebration of Life.

We signed our event booking contract for our wedding reception back in November and…read moreanticipated working with the team shortly after to begin planning and designing our special event. We didn't hear from anyone for months. Nothing like adding stress to a bride and groom's wedding! Towards the end of December, we finally pulled the plug and reached back out. Due to personal family situations and the lack of effort or work from House of R - we asked for a refund. After a couple weeks of silence and follow ups, we finally heard back from the team with a confirmation they would issue a refund and stated we should receive within 3-5 business days. The refund NEVER came. Many follow ups, emails, text later - GHOSTED. Thank Goodness our credit card company had out back and was able to dispute the deposit and we got our money back. However, it took 4 months to get to this point. So disappointed. We loved the space and photos of previous work done - but the terrible customer service, zero work done, and lack of follow through with this venue speaks for itself. You've been warned - Just don't waste your time here!

When they say they produce "epic event experiences" they are not kidding - this was a fantastic party! So much thought went into the planning and detail from the décor to the lighting to the food ... there were various Beatles buttons on the tables, drink coasters with song titles, 3 kinds of cake, a bar, charcuterie board, little meat sliders, cardboard cutouts for photo ops, a "phone" to record a message - the list goes on and on. Even the bathroom was decorated and playing Beatles music. The McGuigan Brothers even showed up to play about 90 minutes of Beatles covers (a la their well known Interactive Beatles experience show). The birthday girl had a blast as did her family and friends. Many of us hadn't seen each other in the past couple years and several people even flew into town for the party. This was a great place to host this type of event. I was dropping hints to my spouse that a Bowie themed gathering would be pretty cool someday!!

I had been a guest at 2 wedding receptions 2 consecutive weekends in a row. I thought I would wait…read moreuntil the completion of the 2nd reception to see if I was crazy or not. Were we being pushed out of the venue early? And the answer is a RESOUNDING YES! The first reception started at 6:00 PM and I was told that the party will be going until 11:00 PM. IMMEDIATELY after the final guest made it through the buffet line, a surge of staff came from the kitchen asking if plates could be taken back. Some of us hadn't finished half of our food. (I understand that having prompt service is one thing, but this was on a whole different level.) And they kept circling like vultures, picking the table clean, as quickly and inconveniently as possible. Once the plates and silverware were gone a second round of staff showed up taking water glasses and pitchers of water. LITERALLY taking a freshly poured glass of water...and by "freshly poured", I mean that as I was pouring the water, the service staff was walking toward our table. I set the glass on the table and she grabbed it (and the pitcher) and walked away. I was without words. WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?! This unapologetic hovering continued until the last piece of service (glasses, forks, knives, plates, napkins, etc.) was gone. And just when you thought they couldn't make you feel any less welcome, as soon as a table appeared to be "empty", they started taking the table runners, table cloths and chair scarves off, meanwhile dismantling the centerpieces in the process. By 10:15 (and that is generous saying 10:15) at least 50% of the tables were completely cleared, wiped and vacant of any evidence that a party was taking place and they had successfully pushed nearly EVERYONE out! And this EXACT SAME SCENARIO happened 2 weeks in a row. That can't be an accident! So, if we break this down into simple terms...the average wedding in Omaha costs about $25000. At 6 hours spent with your guests on your special day that equals $4166.66 PER HOUR (and saying you get a full, QUALITY 6 hours at A View on State Street is a stretch to say the least!)! At over 4 grand per hour, the last thing I would want is for my guests to feel unwelcome at any point during that 6 hours. Yes, it's a dance keeping your staff happy, being able to ensure everyone has a good time, meanwhile trying to get everyone out at a reasonable hour, but this is on a while different level of rude. I would highly suggest you review your time lines on clearing tables. Your approach MAY BE to clean the tables so guests don't have a mess to deal with but your average guest could care less about a few plates. We want to eat at whatever pace we see fit. To sit and enjoy the company of our companions without constant interruption. To feel like we are ALLOWED to take our time eating and drinking and still know that we have a couple of hours to dance in an environment that STILL FEELS LIKE A PARTY. And maybe, just maybe, have a glass of water to replenish our system after a dance or two. (Yes, I saw the crappy plastic water cups you have available by the bar...did I mention $4166.66 per hour?) Yea, I may represent just one complaint, but I have 2 unmarried twin daughters, who have lots of unmarried friends, and I cannot in good conscience recommend A View on State Street.
