The contract includes the reception and caterer, and the venue itself was beautiful. Unfortunately, the caterer (Mangia Italiana) really let us down, and they are the main reason I'm giving this a one-star review. The food was bad: the pasta was overcooked, the salad was terrible, and the dinner rolls were hard. The servers also had attitudes. Much of the food was left uneaten by the guests. While guests were still eating, the servers had already started clearing tables, making it feel like people were being rushed to finish food that wasn't even edible. I promised my daughter I wouldn't say anything, but we recently ate at Mangia Italiana, and it was another disappointment.

I understand she had a lot on her plate but the attitude of her and her staff really put a damper on the ending of the evening. After speaking with a friend about our experience it came to my attention that they had similar issues with Bonnie during a wedding she attended two weeks prior. I expect a warm and inviting staff who are willing the make the evening special not a staff that makes you feel uncomfortable like you're an inconvenience to them. I had opportunity to visit at the recent Festa Italiana which the AIHS hosts every year as their major fundraiser. It was spacious, clean, modern, attractive and I really appreciated the large, clean women's restrooms. I did not see the kitchen but I've heard from a good source (one of the members of the AIHS) that's it's wonderful and since they used it to cook all that food for the Festa, they would know!

The white stone wall by the outdoor tables made for an incredible background for pictures and made me feel like I was in Greece instead of Iowa.
