They resemble the Tiny House trend you read so much about in Miami; they are tiny and they are houses, and they are super-cute. I really enjoyed staying in mine. If you are thinking about RV parks as disorganized, dirty and depressing places, Lake in the Forest will surprise you. It is immaculate, everything is well maintained and it feels consistently like a good part of town. There are a lot of nice places around the park where you can contemplate and enjoy nature. The place was almost empty when I visited so there was unlimited peace and quiet to enjoy. I would actually say it was a bit too peaceful and quiet. I didn't realize until almost time to leave that there was an active social center in the middle of the place that might have been interesting. Perhaps it was having just come from Disney, where it is impossible to get lost for more than five minutes without being legally blind, but it would have been nice to see a few signs pointing me towards favorite places within the property. There was a notebook in the house with lists of addresses of things to do, but it would have been nice overall to have more detailed descriptions of possible activities. As it turns out, the right thing to do is to ask the staff, who had an encyclopediac store of information when asked and could not have been more cordial. Some of the RVs are decorated with lights and effects in ways reminding me of Burning Man or Love Burn if it had been done on a really strict budget. The clientele are entirely pickup and RV folks. Hardly anyone had cars. I had my new-to-me pre-owned Mercedes and felt a touch out of place, the city slicker in the country, almost like I was invading a world I didn't quite understand. That was silly of me and amused me more than anything, but this is definitely not Miami. The few people I met were very nice, and the owner was exceptionally helpful, pointing out sights I would enjoy and showing me her own personal 80 acres of nature. I knock off a star for two things :The gate procedure and the checkout procedure. The office shuts down at 4:00pm and they close the gate allowing entry into the park. After that to enter or exit you need to get out of your car, release it, return to your car, drive through it and then close it again. So it feels like you are trapped in or shut out. The owner tells me that the gate serves its purpose of preventing pesky neighborhood kids and the like from coming in and annoying everyone, but there's no question it made me feel a bit alienated from the place. They intend to replace it with an electric gate eventually and that should solve the problem. Checkout requires that customers clean out the room, bring the sheets to the main cabin, take out the trash, wash dishes, empty and wipe out refrigerator, sweep the place clean and so on. This is a lot of physical labor for someone for whom that is, well, not his strong suit. They charge you a $60 fee if you don't comply. With my complete lack of domestic engineering talent this is not very hospitable. I wouldn't mind paying $30 but $60 just seems excessive. WiFi, while available, did not work well during my visit. I have Verizon's Unlimited cellphone plan and that worked fine for my stay. I simply tethered my computer and iPad with the phone and had fine functional access, despite the remote location. If you want to use the WiFi, they have several different networks with different passwords for each one. So you might want to program each one individually into your devices. A pain, but having all of them accessible would probably make it easier to find a functioning network. At $350 per week, I felt the value for money was outstanding. The place is pleasant, relaxing and very well kept up.

They have a large property that we toured around with Oem, the lady that lives on the property. She showed us al the animals including Sammie the llama. We went on a morning run, used the pool to cool off, and did some of the activities they offered. Quaint location, very relaxing.

The trail is a nice walk through…read morethe Ocala Forest and takes you along some points of interest such as a very large sinkhole and an old family cemetery. There are also supposedly some homesteads, but we didn't come across them during our time there. The website is a little off when it comes to showing which numbers on their map match the numbers on the posts for points of interest. Part of the trail is pretty sunny so make sure you have your sunscreen and other sun protection if you need it. Once you get into the main part of the trail, you'll find more shade and it's a nice, peaceful walk in the woods.

If you head south on the Florida Trail and head left at the fork you will find a nice giant dry…read moresinkhole. Makes for a great camp spot. Camping is permitted anywhere in the forest once the general gun season (hunting) closes...in 2014 that was January 4th. If you head North instead there is a nice campsite by hidden pond. We shared a 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage with some friends and besides the little critters that live in the woods, we had a very nice a peaceful time. The cabins range from 3 bedroom all the way down to a pop-up camper, so they can accommodate you and how back to nature you want to get. The owners are very friendly, they call you to verify when you will be there and give you directions as needed. They gave us a nice covered pavilion with kitchen to have our Saturday night grilled steak dinner. It is in the Ocala National Forest, so it is peaceful and tranquil.

Even if you have to come out of your way, this is the place to be. Ranking high over Disney or any of the conventional attractions, in my opinion. I want to start off by saying we did not stay here but wanted to check it out for future options after seeing it advertised in several RV publications, after speaking with the staff at the registration center and given permission to explore the property I think I have a clear understanding of this beautiful RV Park. Let's start at the RV Check-in and Registration Center which is located inside the beautiful and spacious general store - the entire staff here was very friendly and accommodating and the general store is very clean and has a little bit of everything including ready to eat meals and a nice selection of wines. In the same building with separate entrances are spacious restrooms complete with showers and dressing areas that are all immaculate and modern - next is a beautiful laundromat that is amazing and spacious and a golf cart rental center. Once you've checked in there are wide paved streets lined with level back-in concrete pads all with full hookups and beautiful landscaping across the property. Now for something I've never seen at a RV Park - a gasoline and diesel fueling station with multiple pumps and all under a tall canopy, it's self-service so only pay at the pump. I actually filled my F-150 for $3.20 a gallon for regular which is only a few pennies more than the stations in the area and a great and rare amenity. I think this is a beautiful RV Park although it's a destination and what I mean by that is if you're here for a horse event or a overnight stay this is perfect but as far as atmosphere it kinda boring with little to no shade but was clearly designed to accommodate those here for events at the World Equestrian Center and not a vacation resort by any means and likely the reason it mostly empty when there aren't any events scheduled. I'm am really glad I came here to check out this beautiful property but it's probably not a place I'd stay since I don't have much interest in equestrian events - if you're attending events here it's a five star venue, for me because it's so tied into everything equestrian and I'd probably only do an over stay overnight while driving to my final destination I'll give it 4 stars...

From small children to adult children, Double K offers lessons in English, Western, dressage on kindly school horses, as well as offering both full board and pasture board. Ms Audrey has a motto on her barn board "Safety First, Fun Second", and this is a crucial idea for adult amateurs such as mysel; however, i have seen very young riders treated with the same respect and concern for well beaing as the adult students. Ms Audrey is a classically trained equestrian with a broad range of riding experience and horse care--yet she will never brag(as others do). I trust her completely, and with horses, that's the most important thing.

The parking lot area is enormous and "paved" with open cement tiles. There were bathrooms but they were locked (although I was there on a federal holiday) and there were also portopotties that I didn't try. Basically, it's low-key but a pleasant little lake.

Beautiful and nice put in for boats. Large quiet lake and abundant wildlife. Will return to paddle.read more
