I had a great experience at Diamond k saddlery! I went in looking for a roping saddle and was immediately helped with many options! I sat in about 4 different saddles and was also fitted for the correct seat size and stirrup length. Carrie I believe was the woman who helped me, she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She is very straightforward and has a dry sense of humor so if you don't understand people with that type of personality then you're going to take it as her being rude... but she definitely is not! She was more than willing to help and we had a great time with many laughs. She had amazing recommendations for stirrups and breast collars as well. Carrie is brilliant. I have a hard to fit horse (big shoulders in front narrowing to a long sausage in the back ). Diamond K was recommended because of the woman who operates it. I was warned that she could be a little gruff but assured that she knows her $hit. I entered the store a little timidly and got to the point (as instructed by my friends): "I have a horse, hard to fit, can you help?" I was scared, not gonna lie, her reputation precedes her, but she immediately started asking questions, rapid fire, like what do I currently ride in, what's my discipline, what's her breed, what pictures do I have? I showed pictures of my horse and she asked for more, specific angles, how does she move? Do you have video? Etc. After viewing the pics/videos, she chose a saddle she thought would work. I was skeptical but took the saddle on trial. My horse's back and performance have improved 5 fold. Photos for evidence. I would recommend Diamond K to anyone and everyone. The bad reviews are a joke and from people who probably don't understand the importance of good saddle fit or the professionals who actually know what they're talking about. She isn't "gruff or rude" like some posts would have you believe. She said they don't have bullwhips and then she said, was I talking about an S and M whip! I said no I was talking about a bullwhip. I just spoke to a representative from this business possibly the owner, who was very unprofessional. I called and asked if they had a saddle cleaning service, and she proceeded to ask me if I am handicap. No ma'am, I am not handicap a lot of Seattle stores offer saddle cleaning services. I think God when I go to prime shine to get my vehicle washed, they don't ask me if I'm handicap when I pull up. And I'm also glad when I go to a fast food restaurant they don't ask me if I'm handicap and cannot make my own meals. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and may even contact American disability department in California. I sure hope this Lady gets her act together. I drove over 2 hours to get to Diamond saddlery for the first and last time. Wasn't a great great experience. I'm new to riding horses so I don't have a lot of knowledge of horse gear nor what I should be buying. I came to this store to gain knowledge and purchase good quality gear. The store store was stocked with Quality gear but pricey now that I've done my research. The lady that was in charge running the place is very knowledgeable of the product but lack customer service and came off to me a being rude. She wasn't welcoming when entered store and was very short with me. She loosened up once she noticed that that I was spending a great deal of money in the store being that I have a new horse and was starting from scratch. I'm a person of color so my first thoughts was that she was racist by her interaction with me but I can't say that for sure. What I can say is that her customer service is horrible. My father a "new rider " had a few questions and was treated rudely . I will not pull a race card just yet and just leave it to the fact of not fitting in their hIgh expectations of how knowledgeable everyone should be in their eyes . I work in oakdale and suggested to grow business in this small town so they made the drive . I am by far so sorry I did . I hope we can all "make America great again" like they stated they were trying to do .. by helping generate business in small areas such as Oakdale no matter what skin tone , race or ethnicity. Being relatively new to horses, Kerry spent a lot of time finding the right saddle for me based on my type of riding and she took the time to understand my horses to make sure the saddle was right for them as well. They carry a lot of tack, but their saddles are highly overpriced for the quality. Also I found one of the clerks to be very much opinionated when her opinions weren't asked for. I have tried to go to Diamond K numerous times. Although, every time I enter the store I immediately feel like I'm being judged. The two lady's that work in there are ABSOLUTELY rude unless you're rich and ready to spend $5000. So if you're on any type of budget, and when I say budget I mean if you're not looking to spend A LOT then I don't recommend going to Diamond K Saddlery. I did not want to have to deal with selling my saddle online myself and having to ship it and dealing with PayPal. I will admit that I was a little apprehensive about leaving my saddle there since all they did was take a photo copy of my Drivers License and I didn't receive any receipt for leaving my saddle there. The instant I walked into the place I felt like I was being evaluated,very strange vibe. We brought a horse in for a fitting, which was prearranged with the store staff. There was absolutely no parking that was safe for a horse. After a few suggestions for finding parking we wound our way around back and parked in the bank parking lot. I've went in several times to look at a for my horse. The lady there gave off a feeling like she didn't want you there. I email her about a time to meet with my horse to fit a saddle. When I sent this I didn't realize they were closed for a few weeks. She responded very rudely. When I got that I decided right then and there I would not do business with that shop and I wrote a nice email back say "thank you for your time." Well...Where do I begin? First off, I've been looking forward to going in to this store and see what items they had in stock. I ride often and I wanted to maybe pick up some spurs, maybe check out some saddles etc. I called and told the lady (I don't even want to remember her name) that I wanted to pick up a lariat just to mess around in the backyard and have a little fun. I'm not a competitive roper nor do I plan on being one. Just think roping is cool and wanted to try it out a bit. Right from the moment I walked in I felt I was being sized up. She asked me if I needed help and I told her I was the one who called about the lariat. She asks me; "What nationality are you?" I responded with; "Why does that matter?" Her answer; "Oh, well a lot of these Mexican/Spanish kids do all that fancy twirling stuff." Mind you... I am of Mexican/Spanish decent. I speak perfect English and I don't look foreign. She then tells me;"Well you are pretty complected!" Wow! She then shows me some of the lariats she had. Again she asked me; "Have you roped at all?" I already told her that I don't know how to rope I just tried a little bit in the past and I just want to do it for fun with my buddies. She then asked; "Who are your buddies. Team ropers?" I said; "No. Just some normal guys who want to have a little fun in the backyard." Ok...now I'm getting a bit flustered here. So she then takes me out in front of the store and hands me the lariat. Again. I'm not a roper! So I start getting a feel for the lariat and she then immediately bursts out and says; "What are you doing? You don't handle a rope like that!" Honestly, I felt not only was I being interrogated, but humiliated at the same time. So I politely gave the lariat back to her and said; "You don't have to be rude mam. I told you I don't know how to rope, I just wanted to have some fun. And then you comment on my complexion?! Now I know where not to come." Unbelievably rude, racist and unprofessional. My money is green, but I guess my skin color isn't up to par. Nor did I think I had to know how to handle a rope according to her standards. What a shame someone who works at a place like this can be so ignorant and disrespectful. Maybe she should put a sign outside that says WHITES ONLY.
