Finally, I contacted Mr.A and got him assessed. He was in desperate need to help improve and bring up his grades because he was very behind with his grade level. We couldn't have asked for a better SAT tutor for our son Taylor than Josh Lim. Josh has a strong…read moreengineering background, just like Taylor, so they clicked from the very first session. Josh understood how Taylor thinks and knew how to explain concepts in a way that made sense to him. Josh's guidance made a difference even before tutoring started. I had assumed the ACT would be the better fit, but Josh assessed Taylor's strengths and quickly helped us see that the SAT made more sense. Taylor is very strong in math and needed more support in reading and writing. That one piece of advice set us on the right path. Over just 10 weeks, Josh helped Taylor raise his score by several hundred points. He pushed Taylor's already-strong math even higher and, more impressively, helped him make real, measurable progress in reading and writing, the area where he'd struggled most. Taylor scored 1290 on his first official SAT in August and 1320 in September, and he's heading into his third attempt feeling confident and well prepared. Josh is patient, knowledgeable, and strategic, and he genuinely cares about his students' success. If your teen is preparing for the SAT or ACT, especially a STEM-minded student, I can't recommend Josh and AJ Tutoring highly enough.

I decided to take lessons with Ju to improve reading and writing skills, as well as more deeply advance my knowledge of Mandarin. I opted for her online learning format, because it is better suited for my busy schedule and just as effective as compared to in-person. Ju is knowledgeable and patient, always willing to explain concepts. I like her customized curriculum and homework that she tailors to each student. For advanced and heritage speakers, she can create personalized lesson plans to target specific areas of improvement. I highly recommend Ju for advanced Mandarin speakers as well as in general, for your custom goals for Mandarin learning!

She follows a well-regarded textbook, but using both spoken, character-based, and auditory inputs that have helped me solidify learning from week to week. Ju's style is also quite personable and I have enjoyed chatting with her about things like family, where we live, and general cultural references. For those who want to study Mandarin, I think it's important to say that because the language is unlike many Romance or Germanic languages, it requires daily attention in order to flex new muscles of both tone and visual character learning. Ju has been helpful and patient helping me put together a homework structure that really helps me retain information, combining use of Skritter (app) as well as listening and reading.

My daughter just finished her Freshman year at American University and it has been an excellent fit for her. The only thing I did to help her with her college prep and research was sign her up at the Learning Studios. Christy and her team helped her explore what she wanted to study, what she wanted in a college, what colleges to consider, how to write her statement of purpose, etc., etc., They even helped with her applications for financial aid/scholarships. They held her accountable for all the steps along the way and she was pretty much done with the hard stuff by the start of her Senior year. Without the Learning Studios, I know this would have involved many stressful moments between her and me. It was worth every penny. They also provided excellent math tutoring for her (e.g., precalculus, and AP calc plus more). I've since recommended The Learning Studios to other families and all have been very pleased. I highly recommend The Learning Studios.

When I was younger, I used to HAAAAATE getting tutored. However, seeing Jennifer tutor a younger cousin of mine was a great experience. Her knowledge definitely demonstrates her years serving as a public and private school teacher and is coupled with an understanding of how to deal with your child's personality. My little cousin is notorious for acting out, but her calm demeanor and bright personality definitely made him feel like he was talking with a friend and not someone above him. She never once made him feel inadequate, but rather taught him a better way of approaching difficult homework questions or problems. Best of all, he was HAPPY when he when their session was done. Ann comes to our home with really creative and fun ways to help learn the tools to reading and comprehension. The carefully created trust and respect that Ann has developed with my daughter has in my opinion made all the difference. Ann genuinely cares for her students and it is evident in her plans and her openness to talking to you about any individualized support. She brought such unique and enjoyable methods to suit my daughters learning style it made my daughter really look forward to her tutoring nights.
