But Charlotte was calm, cool, collected, and went above and beyond. She was incredible and I was obsessed with the way my makeup came out! Charlotte was easy to work with, adaptable to the crazy day, kind, generous with her time, patient (I can be a bit of a diva and pretty picky). I loved working with Charlotte so much that I hired her years later to do my wedding (Aug 2023)--once again, Charlotte was superwoman on the most important day of my life. My make up was perfect. Plus, she did my hair (curly haired girl with untamable hair) and it looked flawless. Charlotte's energy was exactly what I needed (grounding, pleasant, kind) and she glammed me up for the big day and stayed throughout the night to provide touch ups when needed. I was quite upset with how she handled the conversation and was so quick to turn away working together due to making an assumption that I didn't want to pay or that I wanted a discount? I never asked nor mentioned anything about a discount or lowering her price. It is a shame because I wanted to work together and had no issues with the pricing for the services provided- I just wanted to clear with my husband (especially since he's the one paying for and driving me to the event hence why timing is important). She applied a liquid highlighter and it streaked down my cheek, but she never corrected it (among other mess ups she did not correct). 5. She used heavy and cheap false eye lashes. 6. She was unresponsive during the trial when I told her I was not happy with how the makeup turned out. 7. The updo she gave me fell out approximately 1 hour later. I didn't even go outside with it. 8. She cashed both the trial and deposit checks (a total of $408) despite my expressed unhappiness with her work.

I originally went here because the salons in my posh area didn't know how to and didn't want to deal with my natural hair or with it straightened, so I went in with the hope that I'd find a place where I'd feel comfortable and I wanted to go to a black salon because I felt I'd be welcome and accepted. I'm Mexican and Dominican. Upon getting in the chair my stylist asked how I'd found this place and I mentioned google and was really excited to tell her this was my first time in a black salon. You see growing up being biracial in California their are NO DOMINICANS so I was always a pariah. Even my own mom didn't know what to do with my hair. Every time I went to salons in California near me, these salons I would be charged extra and made feel like my hair was a burden because it wasn't nice and straight. She then made me feel like I'd called the salon a racial slur by saying "black salon" I didn't know that was a racial slur and if did offend anyone I am genuinely sorry, that however does not mean you can blatantly laugh at my face and insinuate I'm an idiot, I'm a computer science major for Christ sakes. After seeing my sister & nieces weave....i missed mine and came back for one as well for my birthday....lol... I decided to try a closure to give my hair a much needed rest and i LOVED it.... im sold and probably will go nowhere else as long as queen of the wink is around the corner lol.... P.S. I have been to some salons where I just cant stand the chat between the stylists...either its in another language or its shouting over your head and just flat out rude....here you feel at home and i often find myself in conversation with the girls that leaves me in tears from laughter....
