Delightful little Italian restaurant - I only discovered Di Meo last night after I went there with a few friends for a birthday meal. Situated close to the top of Gloucester Road, opposite the Anchor pub.
Very much an authentic, family run restaurant, Di Meo has a quirky interior - lots of plants and family paintings on the walls, thin black furniture and a bar and counter at the front of the restaurant. For a mid-week evening this place was quite and with the exception of sporadic intervals of The Three Tenors, our party of five was the loudest table there.
We all ordered pizza which was delicious, stone baked and a good size for around £7-8. Our house wine was poured from glass vases rather than the bottle and our waiter was very attentive. When our pizza arrived they were delivered by an old, olive skinned man with white hair calling us all 'Bella' cheesy it might be but charming too!
Even though we didn't order dessert the staff bought out a huge slice of tiramisu for my friend, getting the whole restaurant to sing Happy Birthday, which was a lovely touch. read more
