Vincenzo's was high on my list of Italian restaurants for a long time. A friend introduced it to…read moreme, describing it as a strange, quirky place that you either really like or dislike. I walked in here, and I most definitely liked. The walls were stuck with hundreds of postcards, and there were what looked like rattan wine canisters almost completely covering the ceiling. The postcards are most fascinating things to look at while you're sitting there waiting for your food. These touches give the place such character. The menu here is so vast - they do pastas, pizzas, fish, chicken, veal, steaks and salads! Something for everyone! Their starter of Calamari Alla Giuliana; squid in a tomato, peppers & chilli sauce was something I liked, but their Calamari Fritti; deep fried squid was rather chewy and not so nice. Their pizzas are good too, they are quite big and you can size them up by ordering any of them as a Familiare, which are 12 to 14 inches! This place continued being my favourite Italian, until one day I ordered the Risotto Vegetariano and was so disappointed when I took my first bite. Weirdly, the rice they used wasn't risotto rice, but just plain rice. I ate my meal in confusion and should have asked them about it but I somehow didn't. Since that day I haven't been back there, because I can't understand why an Italian restaurant would serve me risotto, that wasn't risotto. Still good for pizzas and the rest of the grub though. Just maybe don't order the risotto.

Vincenzos is a great place for a romantic meal as the intimate environment and gentle local music will put you in the mood for love (as well as the wine that your waiter will keep flowing). The pizzas come with all manner of toppings so there's bound to be something to suit everyone. Just make sure you save room for desert - because one look at the menu and you'll know it's not something you want to miss.

Our group of 4 was just super hAngry! Our original dinner plans for the Hatchett Pub fell thru and…read morewe came here as it was just up the street and our hostess said she could give us a table as long as we could leave before 7:30pm. Since it was just coming up to 5:30 pm we were absolutely fine with that time limitation! We started off with a half Garlic-bread and half-cheese starter. Really liked this, especially the cheese used. Also got a bottle of the house red and then I got the pancetta pizza (substituting olives for corn), my brother got the 4 seasons pizza and then the other two people in our group got Pasta. Since at that time we were the only ones at the restaurant, food came out super quick and we all just inhaled it. I am so glad I substituted the olives for the corn, as the olives used had a lovely taste! The ham used on my brother's pizza was also super delicious. The pizza crust was just the right amount of crispy and well risen dough. I enjoyed the sweet tangy taste of the BBQ sauce used in the pancetta pizza very much and we all just totally polished off the food, however pizza size is massive enough that 2 not very hungry people can totally split it. Total 5 stars however reserved for their Tiramisu- in one word: YUM! It was perfection and I'd come back here again just for that treat - rich, creamy and decadent with each bite being super delicious. Service was friendly and so not sure why they aren't rated higher on Yelp. We almost decided not to go cause of the indifferent yelp reviews, but hunger won out and super glad we went in the end, as no complaints about the food or service. Total bill for the 4 of us was £100 and change (included a 10% service charge) and we thought that was pretty decent as we'd had a 3 course meal plus a bottle of wine. I'd definitely return for the Tiramisu! Note - Banksy's Love Cheat is located on the side of the building right next to this restaurant! Yelp 166/ 2019

In a perfect location on Park Row, Mamma Mia's is a family run Italian restaurant. In comparison…read moreto the other review, my experience was pretty good here, though when I came I was in the upstairs part, near the window so we had a nice space, and it was really quiet. The whole place is fairly low lit, however, which, especially upstairs which has more of a modern feel rather than the Italian rustic look they try downstairs, can be a bit unpleasant. The food was good, I had deep fried camembert and a tuna pizza, the quality of which was high. Although the staff, who are mostly clearly part of the family, are very friendly, the service was a little slow - at the time I put this down to the fact we were on our own upstairs and probably forgotten about, but perhaps this is more generally the case. I'm not sure, therefore, whether Mamma Mia is hitting it or missing it - having been here for more than 30 years, though, they can't be doing all that much wrong.

Food wise, I reckon it could be a little better, but it's nothing to complain about. They had a good selection of traditional Italian dinners from light starters to full on meals like Pasta and Pizzas. Prices aren't too bad. You'll have to try really hard to spend more than £13 for a dinner which considering the location (mid-way on Park Row) is pretty good. I reckon if you were in the area and felt like something a bit more original and personal than Zizzi's and/or Pizza Express then I would recommend Mamma Mia. It's also very children friendly.

Bella Italia - The best Mac & Cheese I've ever had

The food itself was hot and fresh, the presentation was also very nice considering it was delivery. The garlic and mozzarella Flatbread was thin, yet chewy and very flavorful bread. However, it could have used more toppings and/or a side of dipping sauce. The Queen Margherita Pizza is "Margherita topped with buffalo and grated mozzarella, baby plum tomatoes and a drizzle of pesto Genovese" per the menu. It was SO GOOD! If you like cheese and pesto, this is a must!!! It was a long day of travel, so of course I also needed to try the four cheese Mac & Cheese. The noodles were bathing in a four cheese sauce with oregano and a crispy crumb topping. It may have been the best Mac & Cheese I've ever had... and I'm from Wisconsin, the land of "cheese heads" lol. I would love to experience the resturant itself. Now knowing how good the food is, I'm sure the dining experience is also great :)

The girl left us to ponder the menu before asking for our drinks, this gave us time to decide on what we wanted. As we were ordering I noticed the lady wasnt writing anything down and asked her if she was alright remembering everything, this usually makes me pretty nervous. For starters we ordered the calamari and the bolognese arancini and we both tried half each to get a feel for their cooking, I couldn't fault the calamari as it wasnt rubbery and cooked well along with the breading being, not extremely crispy, but quite rustic and wholesome. The arancini balls were stuffed with a beef ragu which was new on their menu, it was a very rich filling but it did stand a chance with its tomato salsa accompaniment and the crispness of the ball itself, it was lucky there was only 3 otherwise we would have struggled. For the main we ordered the 10oz Sirloin steak each, I ordered mine rare and my partner had medium rare. The steaks were cooked to perfection in the middle, however at first when I tried the side it was close to medium well but I persevered to find my perfect tenderness further into the cut. The fries weren't anything special along with our meat however the roasted mushrooms did the dish justice, even though there were only 4. This steak was a typical Sirloin but definitely not worth £19.99, I'm positive I could order a better 8oz elsewhere for half the price. The atmosphere improved whilst we were eating and the changeover of servers didnt disappoint. The new guy was very polite and attentive and the meal was finished on a pleasant and full note, we left feeling heavy and happy. The original server nailed our order and it was followed through with the other staff. Lovely atmosphere, but a bit overpriced for what we had.

This set the bar for me wayyyyy high especially knowing they have a location in Thailand and France. I have a gluten intolerance and really wanted to try the pasta as they are known for their homemade pasta. on the menu it stated gluten free pasta available so I ordered the lobster pasta dish with gluten free pasta; the original dish came with linguine however for gluten free I could only get Penne which would mess up the dish as its a much heavier thick noodle that goes best with a dish with some type of sauce. So I said I will suffer through this dish as it will be worth the side effects....WRONG. It was not worth the night and next morning. my dish was flavorless, and the lobster was extremely small. My partner ordered the steak medallion dish and truly enjoyed his; however I believe it was the nostalgia of the moment of return versus anything else. For the drinks I ordered a lychee martini and we had a bottle of wine. my lichee martini was too strong to enjoy so I gave to my partner. I have came, saw, and no desire to return.

The overall experience was…read morereally good... the wait staff was very attentive and the layout of the restaurant is really interesting. There are lots of traditional and unique menu options including a variety of pastas and antipastos to go around. I ordered a caprese-esque app with fresh burrata and avocado and tomato. A bit of balsamic glaze would have really set it off but it was good. I got the lobster pasta for main course which came layers over the shell. It's a nice touch but admittedly becomes an obstacle in working through the dish. The pasta is fresh made and was cooked perfectly... the lobster however was a little over done and a bit chewy as a result. Still a well composed dish with lots of flavor. I also ordered a side of truffle/parm fries... the truffle was plentiful but the fries were pretty basic (almost as if they were frozen vs fresh cut). In my opinion, a more rustic chop would be preferred. The only major complaint I would have is that it took forever to get our main course served. The apps came out quickly but the kitchen must have been backed up because even the maitre de was visibly frustrated. One person in my party had to wait an additional 8-10 minutes after our food was served almost as if her order was forgotten. We had a fairly large party (12) so it is not unusual to wait a little longer for food but it did seem excessive. Overall though it was a good experience and I would definitely go back again if given the chance.
