I had a very bad experience at this Dahlia Orthopedic office on 14th Street in Riverside, California. I arrived early, was told right away that there may be a problem with my ESA dog. I asked if they could tell me before I spent 30+ minutes filing out paperwork. She said no. I filled out the questionnaire and when I brought it to the counter they said that I had to leave. I showed up for my scheduled appointment with my emotional support dog, who is an important part of how I manage my disability. Instead of working with me or showing any understanding, the staff told me my dog was not allowed inside and essentially refused to let me proceed with my visit. The way this was handled felt dismissive and lacking compassion. Medical offices should be especially mindful that many patients rely on support animals to help manage serious health or emotional conditions. My dog is quiet, well-behaved, and there strictly to support my well-being. Being turned away in that situation was embarrassing and stressful. I hope the office reconsiders how they treat patients with disabilities and the support animals they rely on. A little empathy and respect would go a long way. I am posting on all review sites, social sites and telling as many people that may be considering going to that office why they might want to reconsider. read more

Went to get my hand looked at and the doctors office never mentioned they will not bill. Never disclosed I had charges until after finishing the service. Then informed me of a $271 bill. This is extremely unethical. I understand some fault is on me as a patient and my insurance, however, I called in and spoke with office manger and she proceeded to argue with me and even agreed that after speaking to the receptionist, who said she "did not remember" informing of my charges prior or the fact that they do not bill. She further insulted my dire financial situation I was in by mocking it and saying that although they failed to disclose I would have charges. I called and they did not even make an attempt to remedy this or offer even a partial discount. Some people may not know enough and instead of opportunity to help or at the very least prevent this from happening instead I was taken advantage of. My son broke his arm so he was referred to Dr.Dhalla. Prior to the appointment I decided to look up the place and was concerned with some of the reviews I had read. I would give this place and this doctor -10 stars if I could. My mother had a total knee replacement by Dr. R. Dhalla back in September 2022. Four days post-surgery, I was concerned that she was developing symptoms of sepsis; I called the after-hours line concerned (especially since she could barely get in and out of a vehicle without being in excruciating pain - to the point of tears) and was referred to leave a voicemail. In my voicemail, I specifically explained who my mother was and how he'd just performed a TKR on her, and my worry about the current symptoms presenting. Dr. Dhalla proceeded to call me back and stated, "It could be something she ate. I wouldn't call back an ortho surgeon". RUDE. For every follow-up appointment my mom had, he was rude, arrogant, and completely dismissive of her pain (pain that is WORSE than before she had the surgery!!!), and would continue to prescribe her more narcotics rather than trying to figure out what exactly was causing the pain. When my mom explained to him, 7 months post-op, that the pain was only increasing and getting worse, starting to affect her hip and subsequently her walking, Dr. Dhalla pretty much told her to find another doctor. DISGUSTING. She finally was able to get a referral for a different orthopedic surgeon, and that surgeon confirmed all of my suspicions - the TKR surgery that Dr. Dhalla performed on her was not done well, including not being "cemented in," which has caused excessive pain, nerve damage, as well as a clicking/buckling feeling in the knee, and did NOT resurface her kneecap. All Dr. R. Dhalla could seem to offer her prior to her seeing this new surgeon was pain management/narcotics and more physical therapy. The new surgeon confirmed that more PT would not help my mom in her attempt to rehabilitate and was shocked by how POOR of a job Dr. R. Dhalla did. The new orthopedic surgeon has stated that my mom only has two options in order to relieve her pain: go through surgery in order to resurface the knee cap (which should've been done in the first place) or do a TOTAL REVISION!!!!!!! Total Revisions are not typically done on a patient who's had a TKR until around TWENTY YEARS. And even THEN, the new ortho surgeon explained that my mom would be back for another follow-up surgery 6-9 months after because the initial surgery was done so poorly. DR. RAJA DHALLA SCREWED UP MY MOM'S KNEE AND CONTINUED TO BLOW HER OFF REPEATEDLY, BEING DISMISSIVE AND INVALIDATING. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. DO NOT GO TO DR. RAJA DHALLA. As for the office staff, with the exception of Patricia (I believe she's the coordinator/office manager) and a Medical Assistant (whose name I forget - IT'S NOT JAVIER), THEY ARE ALL RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Javier, the short, heavier-set Medical Assistant, is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL and just as rude, arrogant, and as condescending as the doctor he works for. All the front staff seem to not have any idea as to how their own office works. Multiple times, they screwed up paperwork needed for labs, CT scans, and even an MRI for my mom's hip. Constantly told, "We'll give you a call tomorrow when [such and such] is ready," and we wouldn't hear from them until over a week later when WE had to call to figure out what was going on with said paperwork. Can you go elsewhere? Then let me suggest you do. I moved from Canada to Riverside in the middle of dealing with cubital tunnel issues. The exam performed here was much more basic than any I'd had performed on me in the past. 6 months prior to my visit I had some nerve testing done that came out completely normal. To confirm the results the clinic needed to provide a written request to my previous doctor via fax. Instead of bother to send the fax to acquire said normal test results they insisted I repeat the nerve tests. I was not going to waste my time and money on that, given it was already recently confirmed my nerves are functioning normally. In addition the office was supposed to have a prescription sent to my pharmacy, but it was never sent. read more

The doctor is okay. They won't let you use your phone while waiting though. They even come in and check on you. With orthos, there is always a wait, why can't we silently use my phone to help me keep my mind off my pain? The worst part is his office staff. I gave them information 4 weeks before my surgery that I needed answers to. I called weekly at first, then the third week, I called daily. Almost had to have my surgery rescheduled because the office manager was such a bitch when I called her on it. I will never go back. The only nice one was Christian at the front desk. He was always willing to help, but was at the mercy of the office manager, who doesn't seem to have any training on managing at all. I worked in the medical field most of my life. That kind of treatment really takes a toll on you because you are already in pain and she could care less about doing her job or getting others to do their jobs. And she flat out lied to me to my face, then tried to deny it! I gave the doctor a detailed letter outlining the calls I made to try and get my questions answered and the correct Rx written because I am allergic to so many medications. He seemed to blow it off and said his office staff said I called a lot. Well, I didn't want to take medication that would make me sick! DUH!!! He did a pretty good job on my shoulder, but the office staff were not worth having him as a surgeon. If you can deal with the staff, you might do okay, but they were sooooooo rude! and unprofessional. I started taking a friend with me to appointments because they weren't as rude if someone else was there. Just be aware! Choose wisely. read more

I use this center and they did a great job! I took my xrays from the VA at Loma Linda. The VA doctors told me I have a fracture hip. The doctor at the center reviewed the xrays said that I did not have any fracture. He prescribed medication, fixed my problem! (no pain now). read more

Very unorganized front office. Appt at 10:45 sat and waited until 1215 then they took an X-ray. Now waiting again at 1220. Dr. Dhalla was professional and took care of my mom, so for that I am grateful. read more

This office staff is horrible. I was talked over when I was trying to explain I've been waiting over 3 weeks for approval for a test. When I finally spoke with the person in charge of authorizations she informed me it took her over a week to even submit the authorization. I was then told the approval was in but someone would call me back in 2 or 3 days to set up the appointment for the test i need done. REALLY! I've had minor surgeries approved, completed and back to work in the time it's taken this office to set up and get approval for a simple test. I was referred here for a fractured ankle (which went misdiagnosed as a sprain for six weeks). In spite of some push-back from my insurance (mostly due to timing), Dr. Dhalla gave me excellent care. His staff was professional and always polite. Sure, there were hiccups with wait times, etc., but this is something you experience at every medical office, and was better here than at may other places I have been to in the past. I would recommend Dr. Dhalla for anyone with orthopedic issues. read more

I had shoulder surgery Sept 2019 and had issues from the beginning. Dr. Raja Dhalla did the outpatient surgery and was very vague and arrogant. His staff was rude and unhelpful. They list hours on their website until 5:00 PM, but when I went by at 4:00 PM due to a portion of the incision that was open and still bleeding, they refused to see me as their "clinical hours" ended at 4:00. I was told to go to urgent care! Of course, Urgent Care said this was post surgery and Dr. Dhalla's responsibility. The incision continued to be open and bleed for weeks. Dr. Dhalla finally said I should call my cardiologist and get off blood thinner, which I did. Although it is now fully healed, the scar is thick and ugly after being open and building so much scar tissue. (I've had several other surgeries from other doctors and this wasn't an issue.) Finally, I was supposed to have an appointment today and was told I needed to pay a copay as their "90 day global" period ended. Seems to me that would be up to the staff to inform when making an appointment that I was told to make. After contacting my insurance to see if anything could be done, they were unfamiliar with this "90 day global" thing. They contacted the billing department and found this is Dhalla Orthopedics "rule". So be pre-warned. I definitely would NOT recommend this office. Very frustrating. read more

If you have a child under age 11 they can not go in the room with you supposly saftey issues. They can't sit in the waiting room either unless 14 yrs or older. Asked if they were providing child care they said no. Good way to loose patients. Yet this office see's Pediatric Patients doesn't make any sense at all. This office is the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a medical practice. Office staff is horrible and then beyond rude when you question their delays. My son was seen here for a knee injury incurred during his high school basketball game. After his MRI results came in, Dr. RAJA dhalla barely glanced at the report and told us he only had significant bruising to the bones in his knee, do physical therapy and see him back in a month. My son's physical therapist is the one who actually told us what the MRI report REALLY said which is a small tear to his ACL and significant bruising. He told us my son is now more prone to a complete tear so he has to be strong enough to return and not rush it. Dr. Dhalla say him back in a month and gave him a full release back to sports. His sports trainer at school and the Physical Therapist said ABSOLUTELY NOT, as he would definitely reinjure himself. That was on August 15... the same appointment WE HAD TO ASK HIM to please order my son a protective knee brace to start playing again in. They said it would take about 2 weeks. Today is September 23 and I just had to call them AGAIN to see where the brace is. They finally scheduled an appt. for 9/29 for my son to get his brace. Unbelievable! Then when I asked the office manager, "what happened to about two weeks?" She said it's more like 2-4 weeks. I told her it's now 6 weeks and she actually argued back with me and said no, it's only about 4. Hmmm.... ordered on 8/15 & pick up on 9/29. You do the math. 3 days shy of 7 weeks!!
