First, this place is very clean, and aisles are labeled very well. The employees on my visit were exceptionally polite. Prices here are reasonable in comparison to other grocers. Selection here is another story. I visit grocery stores all over the country in search of local/regional products. Though it offers Ohio-based products, Heinen's has more than its fair share of products produced my multi-national corporations. I'm totally not against that. I do, however, want to see more than a brand or two that isn't Vlasic, Oscar Meyer, or General Foods.

Giant Eagle's meat department is unbeatable. The fresh ground and seasoned hamburgers are one of my favorite items from the gourmet butcher shop. I also grab some fresh, delicious sushi once in a while. This store also has a Get-Go on premises, which offers the lowest gas prices in the area if you shop at Giant Eagle and accumulate points. Be sure to join the Giant Eagle membership program if you're going to shop here. The one thing that doesn't make sense to me is the cheese shop. They sell some expensive cheeses that someone from Strongsville may enjoy. But this is Parma, where the median income is around $43,920 per year. There's all kinds of unfamiliar sounding beers so you aren't going to find cans of Natty Lite or shit like that. Beer of this quality here is pretty cheap. There's a few large bottles for about $2, and these are pretty large. Besides the beer they also have lots of coffee and pop. They have some varieties that you can't find anywhere else like it seems. Among the food is lots and lots of candy. It's about $2 for a good size bag and there's lots to choose from. The ingredients are in different languages but includes English too. It even has a produce section and the fruits and vegetables look fresh. They have a very large deli section. Cool place for getting European food. It can be hard to find because it's hard to see. I noticed immediately the store is spare, but clean and very organized. It was very easy to find the items I was looking for, and I was especially pleased to find they had fresh produce as well. I was really excited to find curry leaves here, which is used in a lot of Indian cooking, but I typically have a hard time finding them. At just $1 a bag. I felt like I hit the jackpot! I brought my husband along as well, and he stocked up on the great selection of snacks they had. I was also able to find all the spices I was looking for: Kashmiri chili powder, amchoor powder, and chaat masala. My only dismay was that all the spices are sold in pretty big bags, which I think would be appropriate for a family who uses these spices every day, but it would have been great if they had a bulk option instead so I can get a smaller amount. In any case, we came out with a great haul, and the cashier even offered us a freshly made samosa on our way out, which was delicious.
