Ethnic groceries are one of my favorite places to shop, there's always something new to try! I always tend to keep my kitchen stocked with new ingredients based on what cuisine or recipes are inspiring me at that moment. I got into the habit of ordering these specialty items on Amazon, simply out of convenience, but this year I decided I would try instead to support local businesses instead. Rather than running to Amazon when I needed a special spice, I scoured Yelp for local groceries that might have what I was looking for, and I found even more than I hoped to at Patel Brothers! I noticed immediately the store is spare, but clean and very organized. It was very easy to find the items I was looking for, and I was especially pleased to find they had fresh produce as well. I was really excited to find curry leaves here, which is used in a lot of Indian cooking, but I typically have a hard time finding them. At just $1 a bag. I felt like I hit the jackpot! I brought my husband along as well, and he stocked up on the great selection of snacks they had. I was also able to find all the spices I was looking for: Kashmiri chili powder, amchoor powder, and chaat masala. My only dismay was that all the spices are sold in pretty big bags, which I think would be appropriate for a family who uses these spices every day, but it would have been great if they had a bulk option instead so I can get a smaller amount. In any case, we came out with a great haul, and the cashier even offered us a freshly made samosa on our way out, which was delicious. This is a nice grocery place for Indian groceries. This is a very organized place compared to many other indian places in the area which are not so organized and feels like things are crammed in a small place. I like that they have most of the things I need from raw material to prepared food. The owners are nice and friendly. I visit this place almost every weekend and always found what I was looking for. I have never had to ask the owners about anything but I am sure they are helpful if you ask them any questions. They also have occasional exhibits of jewelry of Indian origin if anyone is interested. I was pretty impressed that Cleveland had a Patel brothers when I searched for "indian stores" after moving here!! I frequent this store every once in a while, usually when I want to impress my momma and tell her I'm attempting to make indian food! Let's be honest, with me that USUALLY just means I'm adding some veggies to the ever-so-delish instant Maggi noodles..... or heating up some Deep brand frozen Palak Paneer/Paneer Tikka Masala and making some frozen Naan on the stove (or better yet... just heating it in the microwave) ! ;) But, they have everything and anything you would want. They have fresh vegetables, indian snacks, spices, frozen foods (my fave are their indian hot pocket like things in the frozen food aisle), etc. etc. ETC. The people I've encountered in the store are VERY helpful (trust me, if I'm not in an indian store with my mom, I usually have a LOT of questions - and they've always been helpful and PATIENT). I've also had their fresh samosas (and FROOTI - I come here when I'm craving some Frooti boxed juice) - and they're pretty delicious- not the best I've had, but tasty and great if you just want a quick samosa. Patel Brothers has - far and away - the best and most expansive selection of Indian foods in the Cleveland area, all neatly tucked into an inconspicuous corner of the retail drag in my hometown of Middleburg Heights! What a delight! When I am low on rice, spices, lentils, ghee, or any such item I am more than happy to drive across town for Patel Brothers' bright, neat aisles of delectable goodness. The dry good selection alone is worth the trip, but Patel also boasts a truly remarkable selection of fresh produce items that you won't find anywhere else in town. If you're interested in trying an uncommon fruit, vegetable, or legume, even the most seasoned foodie will find something new to experience in the produce bins here. The Dairy and Freezer sections here, too, are more expansive than at your average Indian grocer. Each time we go, there is invariably something unexpected and delightful to try. As you have come to expect, the prices on dry goods and spices here are vastly lower than at your commercial supermarket chains, so stock up! Last but not least, do NOT leave without grabbing a couple of samosas to go! They just might be the best you've ever had. read more

Yay, I've found the holy grail of Indian groceries in the Cleveland area! There are WAY more Indians here now than when I was growing up. Which is totally fantastic, as Indian is my favorite type of food by a long shot. Large, by Cleveland standards, loads of fresh curry leaves, whatever you need, they've got it, it seems like. A selection of sweets which I have some bizzare unnatural affinity for, especially seeing as I'm a Korean girl, to the point where it makes me think I must have been Indian in a past life. Actually, I forgot to look for the white poppy seeds. They must have them. Gotta go back soon! read more

Neat and clean and fair-priced. I have been in a city where there are really big Indian stores, however, in this store also there is enough choice of products. I was definitely happy in my first visit, will go here again for my Indian groceries. read more
