    Sensory deprivation float tank
    Jenna W.

This is a review for their Float Tank session, not for their medicinal cannabis products. I was gifted a Groupon for three 60 minute floatation tank sessions and I couldn't have been more excited. Before my first session, I did research, watched videos of what to expect, so on the day of, I was pretty giddy about the whole thing. It was NOTHING like I expected. I entered a stark room. A towel on a metal folding chair that was far away from the tank's door which meant that I had to place my clean towel on the dirty floor if I wanted to dry off immediately and not walk around cold and naked. I entered the tank, the door let in a good amount of light which I thought it wasn't supposed to at all. The tank smelled of musty vinyl. I tried to ignore it, the light, I was opening to experience all the beneficial values of a sensory deprivation tank. So I'm floating there... trying not to be grossed out by the smell... but then I had a drop of cold water splash on my face, and then after a bit another and then after a bit another. The water seemed cold. The water wasn't supposed to be cold, but it was cold by my head and warmer by the door. Then the thought of everyone's pubic hair and other bodily whatever just got the best of me, and I decided that life is too short to be stuck in somebody else's disgusting bath water. Wasn't this suppose to be some kind of sensory deprivation chamber thing?!!! If only I could have been deprived of all the bad sensations! After getting out, I must have touched my face because somehow I got salt on my lips and tasted, not just salt, (I grew up by the ocean, I know what salt water tastes like), but what only could be best described as what I imagine a mixture of salt and a middle-school boy's week-old gym sock would. I looked at my watch, I only made it 10-15 minutes. That was 10-15 I will never have back in my life. The gentleman at the counter asked me how my experience was, and I told him I was disappointed by the foul smell, the cold water and the drips on my face. And his reply, as if I was some kind of "Karen", just looking for problems to complain about was, "90-95% of the people who come love it." Maybe that is true, maybe that young man flunked math class along the way, or maybe I should have smoked something that was in the front room before I went in, but hadn't. He didn't offer anything that would make things right. My gift. Three 60 minute sessions! I cannot use. I'm so sad. It was such a disappointing experience. I didn't argue, I left and email the establishment asking for a refund, and now several days later have not heard back. According to Groupon, "redeemed vouchers may not be redeemed or rescheduled." So... buyer beware, this may not be your thing. * I found a Google image that looked like the floatation tank they use. It's advertised for home not commercial use.

4/5 - Great First Experience With One Important Concern…read more This was my first time visiting Spa Castle, and I'm happy to say they did not disappoint. There are multiple pools and saunas, each with different temperatures and benefits to explore. Whether you want to detox, relax, or simply enjoy the water, there's plenty to choose from. You can also book add-on services like massages or scrubs for a more personalized experience. There are plenty of areas to relax, both indoors and outdoors, and while children are allowed, we thankfully didn't have many around us during our visit, so it still felt peaceful and serene. The locker room and bathhouse areas are fully nude, which is something I chose not to experience due to personal preference. However, one thing I did feel strongly about as a parent of girls was the fact that children are also allowed to walk around nude in these areas. While I understand this is part of the cultural setup for some spas, I believe Spa Castle should consider a policy that prohibits nudity for minors. Unfortunately, pedophiles don't have a "look," and some parents can be completely unaware of their surroundings. For the sake of child safety, I'd strongly recommend the spa reevaluate this policy and put something in place to protect the kids. Aside from that, I had a great experience overall and can't wait to return to see what the upcoming renovations look like. This place has a ton of potential and offers a unique, refreshing escape from the day-to-day.

I discovered this place via Groupon and decided to try out a float tank experience…read more Ava was the attendant that welcomed me in. She was warm, inviting, and offered for me to use the bathroom before getting started. She walked me through the whole floatation experience process and allowed for any questions. The room has a washcloth, two towels- a body and a hair towel, ear plugs, and ointment for any potential skin tears or cuts. The shower has instructions in there on a metal plate attached to wall, but Ava as well explained the pre-and post float shower expectations. Then she offered me a speaker that could connect to my phone via Bluetooth, which I really appreciated, and then she left me to get started. After inserting the earplugs, showering/exfoliating and shampooing my hair, I got into the tub. There is a neck-support float provided as well, which I decided to use, and as well there is a provided water bottle to spray in case salt gets in your eyes. There are "constellation lights" on the ceiling above the tub and also LED lights that are in the background. There are different buttons in the tub that you can press to adjust either/or and as well a button for controlling the room light. The water temperature was nice and the tub spacious. Then you float until being signaled that your time is up via flickering lights. I followed the post-float shower instructions and applied the "soothing lotion" before finishing up. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience! I recommend trying out At Peace By Defying Time spa if you're looking for a float tank experience.

Bought a Groupon here because I love a good float tank sesh but haven't been able to find too many…read moreplaces out here that do them. I used to have a regular spot in Austin. Anyways I hate that it's so far away from me, I think location definitely effects their business and customer inflow. But the new owner is so sweet. She was very helpful when I arrived, and asked me if I had done this before, and explained to me how their tank sessions work. Overall the experience was good, but I'll be honest it wasn't as relaxing for me as the others I've been too, because the room is too bright for me. So they do have options for lighting, but it's either pitch dark or they have some colored lights and a starry night feeling but they're so bright I could still "see" them when closing my eyes. Additionally, they do have the option for music but you attach your own phone to play it. I personally didn't like all these features, others may.....in the past my float sessions the lights were dimmer and they played light music right in the pod with you and had ambient lights and they helped wake you from your session gradually. It all just felt more relaxing. That said, if you're looking to float this serves that purpose, but I personally like the closed in pods better I realize versus this which is more of a bathtub version. They also offer other services if floating isn't your thing or you want to add on.
