My husband and I have been using DFW Area Lawn Care for approximately 20 years. Their pricing is reasonable; their crews are friendly and hard-working. The owner is very knowledgeable and recommends what would look and grow the best, given our lot-size and the amount of shade we have. Our yard has some fairly large trees and, from time-to-time, storms have damaged our trees. Their crew comes out as soon as possible. It's amazing to see how they reshape the remaining tree, allowing for future growth, and how diligently they work pruning the trees and cleaning up the debris. On regular clean-up and tree pruning, they attempt to schedule the job within your bulky trash set-out days, thereby saving you the fees for them to haul off the debris. This year, DFW Area Lawn Care set out our outdoor Christmas lights and displays. When it comes to Christmas, I am pretty picky as to how I want the front and back yards decorated. I was amazed at the job they did! We have decided, from now on, that DFW Area Lawn Care will be installing our outdoor Christmas decorations. I started using DFW Area Lawn Care in the middle of the summer 2017, and I have decided to part ways with them here in early summer of 2018. Generally speaking, they did a decent job with general landscaping (mowing, edging, cleanup). My lawn looked satisfactory every time they left. I also hired them to do a few odds and ends, such as pulling weeds, and trimming & planting bushes. These also went generally okay. Not perfect, but satisfactory. David was also very responsive to emails and texts, so no complaints there. The reason I have parted ways with them is because they kept leaving the gate open to the dog run. I asked David to ensure their guys remembered to close the gate, but they still left it open. If it were not for this, I would have kept our arrangement going. Yes, my dogs are that important to me. They are part of the family, they mean the world to us, and if they were to get lost or stolen because our landscapers left the gate open, we would be beside ourselves. This one simple thing - making sure you close the gate when you're done - is a big deal to me. I hired this lawn care service to provide mowing twice a month. I was charged for a mow that was never done. I was home the Friday they charged me for. I brought this up to the owner, David, and he declined to fix the situation and instead refused to continue service. I was very shocked at his over reaction. Wow. I'd stay far away from this company. The owner "David" is veeerrrry defensive and impatient. Just read the negative reviews here...most are about this very thing. Our landlord pays for yard care, we just communicate with the yard service as needed. Suddenly, after 6 months of what we perceived to be normal and successful text communication with him as needed upon first moving in (special instructions, a few special jobs we wanted done)...we stopped hearing back from him? We didn't think much about it at first, but then really noticed. Then recently, the crew cut a bunch of ivy they weren't supposed to and left all the debris behind in our side yard (which we eventually had to clean up ourselves). We called and texted numerous times - with zero reply. The next week we asked the crew WHY we weren't hearing back, so they called the owner on the spot and he picked right up. I got on and asked why we weren't hearing back from him? That we needed to be able to communicate with him (since the guys didn't speak English). Next thing I know he's explaining "I blocked you months ago; just too much communicating for only $30/week, texts coming sometimes early or late, wanting to discuss things, etc". He was extremely hostile and defensive and also a big bully, leaving me speechless. And my husband was furious. We've never had anyone dismiss us so unreasonably in business before...and we're Realtors so we talk to a LOT of people! Who dismisses CUSTOMERS like that without even telling them? Leaving them to wonder for months what might be wrong? And not because there were any "negative issues", but because you don't like "when" they might choose to send a harmless TEXT (YOUR preferred method of communication)...or that they want/need to give feedback or HIRE you for extra work? Who in the SERVICE INDUSTRY behaves that way? Customers will communicate how and when it's convenient TO THEM. This guy's arrogance and agitation is a hot button; he's impatient and unreasonable and treated us like nothing more than a monthly number and we had ZERO value to him since we didn't pay the invoices. Meanwhile...again...REALTORS here. So the jokes on him. There are way too many GOOD and honorable services out there that will treat you with the value you deserve. Called to inquire about lawn care. Inquired about a one time cut. Person stated they only do repeat cuts. I offered to sign up for repeated service; I had not had the individual cut my lawn yet, so I was hesitant. Due to the hesitation, the person was very rude and started to boast about having done this 15 years. Make sure when you call in that you know EXACTLY what you want... otherwise this person will start saying, "No, I've made up my mind and you said the first time that you wanted a one time cut." This guy doesn't even deserve one star. He is a complete jerk to work with, defensive, condescending and hateful. He quoted us a price on resodding our back yard and then tried to get away with only doing half of it. Finally after threatening to take him to court, he laid the rest of the sod he but he was extremely disrespectful and rude the entire job. Exceeded All Expectations! As you can see, I don't write many reviews, but only when I'm completely WOWed by a product or service. I called David at DFW Area Lawn Care from a flier left on my door, he arrived the next day to evaluate the work and sent his detailed quote later that same day. Expectations exceeded! After obtaining competitive quotes, I hired David and his crews to remove trees and grind the stumps, trim all remaining trees, and replace my old wood fence around the backyard. They started on a Wednesday 8/22/2018 with a 4-man crew for all tree work. This was completed the same day and their work far exceeded my expectations. Everything looks Great! The 2-man fence crew completed their work 2-days later on Friday after removing the old fence, resetting the metal posts, installing the new frame, pickets and 2 custom built gates. Again, my expectations were exceeded. The new fence and gates look Great! And now a neighbor down the street has hired David for a new fence around their property. DFW Area Lawn Care delivered more than was expected and has experienced crews for the work needed. You can feel confident when you place your trust in this company. Update 9/6/2018: I had DFW Area Lawn Care come back last week to lay a pallet of sod around the new fence and yard. I called David, he quoted me a very fair and reasonable rate for the job, which I approved. The crew arrived 2-days later with fresh and healthy sod cut just the day before. They tilled the dirt, cleaned-out the debris, laid the sod, rolled it to remove air pockets and make good contact between the sod and dirt yard, and watered it all in. 1-week later at the sod is healthy, green and growing like crazy. DON'T CHOOSE DFW AREA LAWN CARE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STUCK WITH A MESS AND A PRE PAID BILL FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED!! David Depasquale the owner of DFW Area Lawn Care made a commitment that if he received the job to rebuild my fence he would either straighten or remove the leaning palm that was in my backyard. He said he needed to complete them both at the same time because having the old fence down would allow for more room for his crew and also he was going to install an additional 8ft. metal post to support the palm at the same time as installing the other fence posts. After being awarded the job the crews built the fence up and installed the 8ft post before attempting to work on the tree. The attempt to straighten the tree consisted of the crew trespassing onto my neighbors property and having 3 of the guys climbed onto the neighbors roof without ever even notifying the home owner! The plan was to use leverage on his shingles to pull this giant palm up. Of course this did not work, and made for an extremely irate neighbor that was screaming for these people to get off his roof and ultimately caused issues for us due to this. David apologized repeatedly claiming they were supposed to have had one the crew members ask permission prior to climbing up which did not occur. After that David was at a loss and discussion went to removal of the tree because he did not have the heavy equipment it would take to straighten it. This was all suppose to be competed in the same time frame which was March 18-21st. It is April 14th and the tree and now a metal pipe sticking up in the back yard are still there, but the fence is complete and David asked for full payment to cover materials used which was paid immediately. There have been many discussions and dates set on when he return and complete removal of the tree but the appointments have been moved due to either crew availability or weather. The most recent date was set for April 10th which was then moved to next Thursday on April 18th. In our discussions about other services he would also be performing on the 18th I requested that David please aerate, fertilize, and weed treat the lawn as well. This was a service I already paid $85 to have done, and David claimed happened on March 9th. I had several conversations and even asked him to come inspect the lawn letting him know that my yard was never aerated, which is apparent because of the holes in the soil, and it really needed a weed treatment, so even if he said he already did it I told him to please redo this and I will pay for the service again just to avoid argument. Since I told him I would even pay again and questioned him on the service he became very offended. He recommended if I was willing to pay for it again, that in order to "maintain our relationship" I should have hired another lawn service to come in and do it and never mention to him. As insane as this sounds I have the complete text thread that I can provide. So since I requested him to redo a service that I believe was poorly executed and I was willing to pay for it he informed he would refund the $85 from the service on March 9th, but he resigned from completing the palm tree. I personally believe the commitment he made on the palm was proving to be more difficult and since he was paid he was ready to move on. I recommended that David and I speak in person or at least on a call because things get lost in translation over text message but he declined and told me that he was not concerned with a bad comment sent to the BBB. He mentioned that ten good comments outweigh the one bad and wished me good luck. So now I still have a giant palm leaning over my pool, an 8ft steel post concreted in and sticking up in the yard, and a damaged relationship with a neighbor due to the poor judgment of DFW Area Lawn Care. The fact that someone would resign after committing to complete something on the 18th all over text is just poor customer service overall. I have emails confirming I "would have a great looking fence, new soil, and a straight palm tree for you by Wednesday" which was March 20th. read more
