In deed it took a few weeks- J explained every step of the way and indeed when it was finally done it cost what they had told me, not a penny more. Despite quite a bit of difficulty in getting my disk to respond to their software. Highly recommend. Seems they love a challenge at IRepair - and recoveries are often just that.

It was quick and easy, exactly as he described over the phone. He was pleasant to talk to and the services were very fairly priced, even blowing out my desktop from dust for free. I have a custom built desktop that needed a new power supply, which I assumed beforehand, and Tony quickly confirmed. Tony was also able to install a new SSD that I had brought in. I called ahead on the phone to see if they had time for me that day, we scheduled a time, and it was done that day in about an hour or so. He charged me exactly what he paid for the parts, even showing me his order online, then charging $100/hour which is very reasonable, especially when he cleans out the computer and keeps the cords tidy with zip ties for free.

He advised me to purchase the battery myself and let him know when it arrived. It is at the side door of a residential building just off Hertel Avenue. Chris greats you at the door, asks you to put the computer on a little table in the hall way and gives you a receipt for the drop off. He told me it could be just dust in the fan or a defective fan. A day later I got a phone call and Judy, his assistant (may I call it that way?) told me the fan was failing. A new part was ordered and the computer would be fixed within a couple of days. Everything worked out fine, the part arrived soon and Chris replaced the old broken fan. 6 Days after dropping the laptop off, I got the call to come and pick it up. I love fixing up old computers and getting them working again, so I do know one end of a…read morescrewdriver from the other, but there are some Mac models that are just too fiddly (or too dangerous) for me to pop the hood, so Mac Outpost is my emergency backup plan. Sometimes, they're amused when I show up with an old Mac mini along with the replacement RAM and drive that I want installed into it, but they've never given me any grief about bringing my own parts, and they've never let me down when I've asked them to do a fix. I would probably use them even more if they were closer to where I live. As it is, I can only go down on weekends.
