Uyen added extensions and created a gorgeous bronde color. Over the years we've tried different looks, from very blonde to closer to my natural dark blonde, and I loved it every time! What impressed me the most is how healthy my hair stayed the entire time. After wearing extensions for over two years, I took them out for a while and my natural hair actually looked about 30% thicker than before (The thickest it has ever been). I just got a new set of extensions again and absolutely love them. I went from short hair to almost waist length, and this time we did wavy extensions to match my natural texture. It came out beautifully - the color matches perfectly and it looks very natural, even when I let my hair air dry without styling. Uyen is incredibly attentive and works very meticulously. She really listens and takes the time to make everything blend perfectly. I completely trust her with my hair and highly recommend her, especially if you have fine hair and are considering extensions.

I'm not a hair dresser and trying to find someone on a Sunday to fix my mess was what I had to do because of work. I have known her for over ten years and because I couldn't get back to her ASAP she canceled all my future appointments with no phone call but through text which is extremely disrespectful. Also I referred several people and she charged me $150 more than the people I referred. I always tip 20%. I'm so glad this happened because when she was told not to worry about it I found someone to fix my hair. She asked if I wanted to come in on Tuesday when she's known for 12 years I work 12 hour days. I had no expectations of her coming in but she offered to take then out but would not put them back in. That would've been a nightmare. This has happened a couple times now. She over charges and her work has gone so down hill. I just didn't want to deal with my work and finding someone new. BEST HAIRCUT EVER!!! I first met Desiree (salon owner) earlier this year when I popped into Something Blue Bridal Boutique which is owned by her mother Jeannie. I was looking for a wedding dress and found the dress of my dreams. Both Jeannie and Desiree were the sweetest and most helpful people I've met and because of them I felt like the most beautiful bride and looked absolutely perfect for my wedding. By now you are wondering what that has to do with my hair!! After the wedding I decided I wanted a new hair style. I have had long hair since I was 10 years old - so the thought of cutting it was a bit harrowing! I knew I wanted an A line bob and I also knew by doing that I could donate my hair to Locks of Love. I felt good about that but was still nervous about the cut. I knew that Desiree owned a salon right next store to the bridal boutique and since I was so thrilled with my experience there - I had a feeling I couldn't go wrong with the salon. And boy - was I right!! Desiree sat down with me and we went over exactly what I was looking for and she made sure I was comfortable before we started. The salon is clean, super cute and the staff wonderful. She cut off 12 inches of my hair and gave me the cutest haircut I have ever had. I love it and I can't stop looking at myself! I'm actually looking forward to getting a new drivers license photo! My husband loves it too :) I am so happy that I found Desiree and I highly reccommend The Hair and Body Bar. read more

I recently joined Livingsocial.com and was in the mood to try a different salon as I wanted a huge change with my hair and thought this would be fun and it was a great deal! My appointment with Marcus. As soon as I walked in he greeted me and then said that he wanted to get to know me more and what I really wanted for my hair. I thought this was great as I don't know if I had ever been asked these questions (a few of them)before even from the somewhat pricey salon I had always gone to. I brought in two pictures. One of the color that I wanted, and one of the cut. Marcus studied them carefully and actually seemed to want to give me exactly what I wanted-nice! He is not only cute, energetic, and very professional, but also seems to know a lot about color- huge plus- and to care about his clients. He made a flavored cup of coffee for me when I told him I drink mine black- was delicious- and kept me entertained while I waited. I had a great experience and the best part is that I absolutely loved my hair and have been getting compliments ever since! People keep looking at my roots, amazed at how good the colors blend and that this color actually matches my skin tone! I will definitely be back! Nice change from a typical salon moving customers in and out quickly. This one takes their time and cares. Very happy! read more

Oh, what can I say about Desi? She is wonderful! The first time Desi did my hair she was at another salon, and that was about 8 -9 years ago. I had gone to another salon in La Jolla wanting to cut my long hair short. It was awful and I needed it to be fixed fast. I found Desi at another salon and she made me beautiful! She gave me probably the best cut I had ever had up to that point. Then we experimented with color, she is an expert at that. I was so happy when she opened her own salon! Sadly I moved out of state 4 years ago, but I go back home about 3 times a year and when I am there I get my hair cut and colored. Just recently I had my hair colored by someone new in Chicago and it need to be corrected. I called Desi the minute I touched down in San Diego and she worked her magic! Now if I could just convince her to pack up and move out here so I could see her all the time! read more

BY FAR the filthiest salon you will ever go into in your entire life. There are stains and drips and goo slathered all over the walls of rooms that they use for waxing. It's NEVER cleaned, cobwebs, dirty floors, just plain DISGUSTING. I cringed at the thought of getting a waxing in this trash can of a salon. The girls that work there are just inexperienced since turnover is extremely high. Shampoo bowls were stained with hair and some other unknown debris. It wouldn't be a far stretch to think that someone had vomited in the shampoo bowl prior. When you enter you will be lucky if the owner will look up from the texting she is doing on her cell phone. Plus the place smells of mold since they had a flood recently from a broken water heater. They had the balls to charge me full price and my hair had to be redone by another salon. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Love this place! Just got new color last week and it is SO beautiful!! Desiree sat with me and did an interview about my hair, i.e. how I felt about the style and color at the time I went in (style I liked, color was "poo"), what I was hoping to see as a result, etc. It was a very nice personal touch. Anyway, I'm a natural blonde and have been growing out my roots for a while (dark, dishwater shade...eeeww) and decided that I wanted to go a darker, but richer shade for fall/winter. I am now auburn and I love the results. I looked in the mirror and said, "Wait a minute...is that SHINE I see on my hair?!!!" amazing. Friends and family have commented on how well the color compliments my skin and how much healthier my hair looks. If you're looking for knowledgeable, friendly staff and people who know what they're doing, look no further. read more

I have been down in San Diego now for 3 years now and when I first moved down, I was still driving back up to LA to get my hair done! That's just crazy, right? Not really, because when you have someone that you trust and you've been going to for 13 years, it's hard to trust someone else with your hair. Until I went to Desiree at The Hair & Body Bar! I had tried other salons, but was not satisfied with the end result. I am with Desiree. She knows hair and she is so great at it! I always get compliments on my hair! She does it exactly how I ask her to, EVERY TIME!!! My idiot wife, Alease tells me to here since it's close to our house here in Mission Hills. So I'm the barber shop type of guy and been very happy going to my barber, but under the insistence of my wife I gave in. First of all I have no idea why anyone would go to this place. She really goes above and beyond. Sandra is extremely professional and organized; she pays meticulous attention to detail and is knowledgeable in all aspects of hair styling. Fast forward a month later, I am still very pleased with my hair and will be returning to her not only for hair extensions, but all my hair-care and maintenance needs.

The girl on the phone tells me that they are charging extra for long hair (no mention of this on LS). She said if my hair is only a few inches past my shoulders that I probably wouldn't have to pay extra. I get there and the hair dresser assigned to me says that they will have to charge me an extra $25. I was pretty upset that it was that much. She was nice about it though. The other hair dresser told me that it was listed on LS's website. In my eyes, if I didn't catch it, then it is my fault for being careless. She stated though that LS will refund me the $99 because other people left pissed off with having to pay extra. Again the hair dresser insisted it was mentioned in the ad. I go home and go to LS. NOWHERE does it say that there is an extra charge for long hair. I even read the fine print and the section you click about conditions. I ended up leaving. I have seen the BB specials for as low as $90 regardless of hair length. Called LS and will be getting a check in the mail between 3-5 weeks refunding me the money. Wasted an hour of my time driving back and forth from here as well as gas. Wouldn't go back to even if they did charge me $99 based on my experience.
