Ironically, at checkout, Annie suggested I book the 45-minute tween session next time because my daughter "has a lot of hair" - yet she only used 20 minutes of our 30-minute appointment. This logic doesn't make sense. The result is a chunky, straight-across cut that I could have done at home. I've already had to book an appointment at another salon to fix the uneven, unfinished look. If you're looking for a thorough, detailed cut with proper layering and finishing, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. We won't be returning.

I came in with a clear inspiration photo of a rich brunette with soft, blended caramel highlights…read more Before we even started, I explained that I understood my hair would not turn out exactly like the inspiration photo because my hair is not virgin hair. I've previously colored it with Redken Shades EQ and Cover Fusion on my roots, so I knew my results would vary. I was never expecting an exact replica. I also understand that the inspiration photo was taken in completely different lighting than the photos of my result, and I know lighting can dramatically change how hair color appears. I took all of that into consideration. Even with those differences, I still feel that what I received wasn't simply a variation of the inspiration--it was a completely different color direction. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I did expect my hair to be moving toward the look I had requested. Instead, the final result was much lighter, warmer, and more orange than the rich brunette with soft, neutral caramel dimension I had asked for. The inspiration photo and my final result weren't just slightly different--they looked like two entirely different color goals. My hair also felt noticeably drier afterward, to the point that I ended up cutting about four inches off the ends. I called the salon and scheduled a correction because I genuinely wanted to work together to get closer to the look I originally requested. Unfortunately, the correction appointment was even more disappointing than the original service. Instead of listening to my concerns, the stylist immediately argued with me and insisted that this was exactly what I had asked for. He told me my hair was already "caramel enough" and refused to do lowlights because he felt my hair looked fine the way it was. He then tossed several color swatches onto my lap and told me to pick a color. When I asked if they were semi-permanent, he told me the salon didn't carry semi-permanent color, only a gloss and permanent color. The swatches he gave me were all dark browns, which wasn't what I was asking for, and when I questioned them, he responded that I knew color theory well enough to know what my hair would turn out like. He also told me my ends were compromised and that there wasn't much he could do for me. Before this service, my hair was healthy enough that I wasn't concerned about the ends. Leaving that appointment feeling like I was being blamed for the condition of my hair after a highlighting service was incredibly upsetting. The most disappointing part wasn't just the color--it was the way I was treated. I expected a professional conversation and a collaborative effort to find a solution. Instead, I felt dismissed, argued with, and made to feel like my concerns weren't valid. By that point, I no longer trusted him to work on my hair, so I left without any correction. I paid $350 for this service and walked away with hair I'm unhappy with, hair that feels significantly drier than before, and no resolution

From the moment I walked in, the whole experience felt very personalized and almost concierge like. The salon itself is so cute, and I loved that they use Kerastase products because those are some of my favorites. Jasmine did an amazing job on my haircut. She gave me beautiful layers, brought my hair back to life, and really took her time making sure everything looked right. Jasmine was confident and knowledgeable while still being incredibly kind and humble. She talked me through everything she was doing, answered my questions, and made me feel completely comfortable in her chair. I've had some not so great hair experiences in the past, so having a stylist who actually listened to me and made me feel comfortable meant a lot. I've actually tried multiple times to get back into Jasmine's chair since then. Whenever I've been back in San Diego temporarily, I've wanted to book something like a toner, brunette balayage, or just something subtle to add dimension to my naturally dark hair. I've consulted with her several times over the phone and through text about what I could do, but unfortunately our schedules just haven't lined up. Since I don't live in San Diego anymore and am usually only there for a few days at a time for work, scheduling a longer hair appointment can be really difficult. Through all of that, Jasmine has been SO patient and understanding with me. I've gone back and forth with her about appointments and ideas more than once without actually being able to make the timing work, and she has never made me feel bad or like I was wasting her time. Some stylists can get frustrated when you're asking questions or can't immediately commit to an appointment, but Jasmine has always remained kind, helpful, and understanding of the fact that I'm constantly going back and forth between San Jose and San Diego. I really appreciate that about her. I genuinely hope I can make the timing work soon because I would absolutely trust her with my hair again, especially for color. I would love to eventually have her do a brunette balayage or highlights and add some dimension while still keeping my hair healthy. If you're looking for someone in San Diego who is talented, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and actually cares about the health of your hair, I definitely recommend Jasmine. I had such a positive experience with her and genuinely wish her nothing but the best. Hopefully I'll be back in her chair ASAP!

I have had a Brazilian Blowout, Botox for the Hair Treatment and Color by SRG. I first went to SRG because another stylist had messed up my hair. I rolled into the salon hating my hair and left LOVING it! I can not tell you how wonderful it is to feel like my hair looks good again. I find the service to be outstanding. Even though the salon was booked from the Living Social deal the stylist squeezed me in so I could get my hair done before a trip I was taking. (it was at the end of the day so no one else had to wait because they fit me in). The stylists were both very nice, customer service oriented and I was most impressed with their knowledge of hair. I didn't find any difference between what I normally pay and SRG Hair Design's pricing. I HIGHLY recommend this salon. I didn't find parking to be difficult, but I know that area so I knew that there was plenty of ALL DAY parking just past the 1 hour only parking that is closest to the salon. I suggest walking an extra 30 steps and grabbing the All Day parking. read more

I absolutely love this salon! Its beautiful, clean and wide open. Not noisy and catty like most salons. The moment i walked in i was greeted by a few of the girls that worked there and they all were more then eager to help me and offer me a drink (even a glass of wine!! bonus!!!!). Its super clean and cute. Best part you can shop for cute clothes while your hair processes. I was a walk in and fortunately the stylist Britney had time to take me and do my hair.She did an amazing job and i am so happy. She listened to everything i wanted but still suggested her professional opinion. She catered to my needs and make sure i was happy and comfortable. Read the reviews but decided to book a BB anyway because the $99price is such a good deal and an acquaintance of mine highly recommended Sandra. (By the way, I clearly saw on the website that the special price is subject to change based upon hair length---I don't know why folks are missing this. Wasn't a problem for me anyway because my hair is shortish.) The salon is in La Jolla and is very nice and modern. Sandra did my blowout and was extremely knowledgeable and used top quality products. I first went to SRG because I purchased a groupon for a Brazilian Blowout.I am so happy I did because I was lucky to get Sandra who did an amazing job on my hair. I have since referred my sister and sister in law who got extensions and Brazilian blowouts and both look amazing. I have always had a hard time getting my hair colored and was stuck on going to the same hairstylist for a while ... i decided since I loved my experience at SRG to have Sandra do my color. I can't speak for the other stylists but Britney is a freaking genius with sheers! I've been a client of hers since 2009 and I've NEVER left unsatisfied. The salon is small, cute, inviting, and deserves 5 stars. The only thing I'm docking is the location/parking. This is the worst Salon I have ever been to. I had a Brazilian Blow Out and Trim. This was a horrible mistake my hair was straightened while it was still wet which damaged my hair. My sister was also very unhappy with a different stylist so I wouldn't trust anyone at SRG Hair Design. Also I had to wait almost 1 hour past my appointment time and parking was very difficult. Like other reviewers, I was charged an extra $35 because my hair was "thick" (it is think but it's only shoulder length and I just got a hair cut thinning it out). That on top of $99 for the living social deal, and a big tip (which she still didn't seem happy about) - I spent too much money for a 30 minute procedure. I was rushed and out of there in 45 minutes tops. Parking is difficult too. read more

I have been getting my hair done by Maritza for a few years now and I just can't say enough great…read morethings about her! She is an incredibly professional and friendly hairstylist. I have found her to be very experienced, knowledgeable, offers me suggestions but doesn't push me to try something I am not comfortable with and I appreciate that. I usually just do a haircut but I have had my hair colored as well she did so well that I plan to see her soon and get some highlights for the summer. I have even called her last minute with short notice and she has been very accomodating. Overall, excellent service and nice person to be around. This is the reason I continue going to Martiza!

I came to Katie asking her for help with color out of my comfort zone and she knew exactly what I needed. It's hard finding a stylist who really knows her way around hair and color. Neat factoid - did you know that human hair can be recycled? Yes, it's true! I had read in a…read morenumber of magazines about salons "going green" and using organic products, but I wasn't sure that there would be an eco salon in San Diego when I did my Google search, but sure enough I found Pamela Nigro's salon. I was pregnant at the time and concerned about chemicals used in coloring my hair, but I also try to use organic products whenever possible. I was out of the country on business and emailed her and she got back to me promptly to schedule an appointment. Once in her chair, we talked about trends in the industry and about the environment in general. This woman is the real deal and not just paying lip service or jumping on the green band wagon! Her salon is in an older, established neighborhood of San Diego (Mission Hills), and it is a warm and intimate space. She really listens to what you want to achieve, yet also offers professional advice about what would work given your goals, hair type, face shape, etc. Additionally, I was prepared for the possibility that maybe the color might fade faster since it wasn't using harsh chemicals, but the results far surpassed my expectations! Not only did her salon (or my hair) reek of chemicals, my hair was soft, strong, and held it's color a lot longer than other places that used traditional methods (check out my hair on my profile pic, and that is almost 6 months after I had the baby!). I drive all the way from San Marcos to see her now and highly recommend her services!

I needed someone who used more…read morenatural products because I found that I am allergic to PPD which is a chemical in most hair dyes. I also wanted someone who would listen to me when I said I wanted to grow my hair long and who would be patient with me as my hair grew out from a style I had for 25 years. I am so grateful that I found Pam! My hair looks beautiful. The hair dye she uses never makes me feel ill. My scalp never burns or itches. There isn't any strong odor either. My hair is shiny, and soft. While going through the changes it took to get my hair to this condition it has always been easy to talk to Pam about what I prefer as far as color, etc. Pam is an artist and her understanding of color, shape, and style translates to her work in the salon. I have to mention the hair care products that Pam uses and offers for sale in her shop. It's not easy for me to find shampoo and conditioner I like because of the offensive scent of most I have tried. Pam offers a line of hair products that smell good and that keep my hair looking great. It has been my experience in the past that I would find a hairdresser that did a great job cutting my hair, but wasn't so great at coloring, or great at coloring, but the cut was not what I wanted. The cut and color of my hair has been awesome every single time Pam has done my hair. I have seen other clients who were just finishing up an appointment with Pam and they all looked great. Every time I have had an appointment with Pam the wait is never long. I am usually 15 minutes early and that's about all the time I wait. I drive from North San Diego County to San Diego every 5 or 6 weeks and it's well worth the time. I can't imagine going anywhere else. As a side note .... I take the beach route down and go through Torrey Pines where I catch the 5 freeway... from there it's just a few minutes to her shop. It's a very pleasant drive . San Diego is such a beautiful city, and I often spend some time there after my appointment.

She is very knowledgable about how to take care of your hair, and loves to educate her costumers. Even better, she can help you achieve almost any cool you want. I dyed my hair for the first time, and went purple! My hair suffered no damage and feels like a silk, amazing. I love her, I'm never letting other stylist touch my hair again. And her prices are out of this world, very affordable.
