Hi. I live in Austin Texas and I come here twice a year to visit my mom and shop at Dwayne's. Today I went to the snack area and the red haired young lady at the counter was really rude to us. I did not feel at all like she wanted to welcome us. She did not enjoy anything about her job. I ordered two chocolate shakes and an orange aid. The lady asked me if I wanted pineapple or cherries or anything and when I looked at her and said no, I'd like the shakes plain please she snapped at me. I'm talking about the orange aid. I told her I'm not from here. I did not know that you guys added anything to it and I'm sorry. I just want a plain one. We went outside to the patio when our order was done, and I realized I did not have a straw for my orange aid. So my daughter went in to grab another straw and again the young redheaded lady told her I already gave you straws. My daughter said you gave us straws for the shake, but not for the orange drink. The redheaded lady orange told my daughter, You mean, orange aid. No, I wasn't born yesterday and I come here twice a year and I drop a lot of money at your store. I know that it seems like it'd be a desirable place for young people to work because you get a discount and it's a pretty cool place to work at I think that this girl might need some more training or maybe another girl who really wants to work at that store should take her place. read more

I saw a sign on the highway for DeWayne's on my way to Benson, so I decided to make a stop when I got to Smithfield. It is located near the Outlet Mall but far enough away (half a mile) from the traffic from there. The shopping center is technically located in Selma, NC. The parking lot is large, but you might still have trouble finding a parking place as it is a busy store. DeWayne's is not an outlet store but a high-quality, family-owned store with name brands. You will find clothing, Pandora, Kendra Scott, Hey Dude, Vineyard Vines, Simply Southern, Tommy Bahama, Julie Vos, Birkenstock, and Yeti coolers, as well as shoes and accessories. I am sure I missed a lot. I wouldn't normally go two days in a row, but after I posted my photos, I saw other photos of the upstairs. So I had to see what I missed, and I decided to go looking for an item. Upstairs was the Attic, where items are discounted 50% and 70% on Wednesdays, I was informed by an employee. Christmas Land is the largest Christmas store in North Carolina, with eleven decorated rooms. The Garden Center with indoor and outdoor plants was another popular area. They had bird seed, different types of soil, and containers. The Sweet Shop had a variety of fudge and Hershey's ice cream. There were other specialty foods throughout the store and closer to the cash registers. Everyone here was friendly, and I was even recognized on my second visit. When I entered for the first time, the employee could tell I was a little overwhelmed and helped me learn the layout of the store. If the outlet mall isn't for you, make sure you stop at DeWayne's for a much better experience. On my first visit, I left with Suzy Zoo items, fudge and chocolates. While I didn't find what I was looking for on the second day, I found something in the Christmas Land that would work. The line to check out was much longer, so I kept finding more items while waiting to pay. It was a good thing I didn't get a cart. They do have a rewards club, which I should have joined, as I am looking forward to returning. read more

Lil' somethin' for everyone. I'm originally a Floridian. This place had a distinctly elevated vacation shopping experience. Yes. Many items are priced pretty high. If you have the time, you will find some good deals. I picked up some blouses in the boutique for a future trip. Plants and a vase for a friends birthday. Found some special stationary to make my condolences to another friend. Treats, shoes, pet items and gift wrapping. All under a clean friendly and spacious atmosphere. I frequented the store often and love their plants, garden accessories, Pandora shop, upscale line of clothing and every year I attended their Christmas open house. This is for a certain type of person for which I am not. It was recommended to us by the ladies at a nearby sex shop so we checked it out. Dewayne's is a wholesome, upper middle class department store. My husband liked it as they had several of the nicer items he has a hard time finding. I absolutely love DeWayne 's a little bit for everyone. The one down fall is you leave the outlets in the low cost mindset. This is a higher end shop and nursery. You can fully buy the entire picnic date in a one stop shop. Jewelry, clothes, Yeti Cooler, wine glasses, crackers and cheese and the tree to sit under If you want to get the full affect go at Christmas, they have endless rooms of Christmas decor and each room has a theme. I can walk for hours. Names like Brighton, Kendra Scott, Pandora, Hey dude, Simply southern.....like I said the list goes on and on. Great staff and clean and neat. OH! I had to stop into Dewaynes today to exchange a duplicate gift that I received for my birthday. The store was decorated for Christmas and it looked absolutely stunning, inside and out! The associates were friendly and acknowledged me immediately upon entering the store. This store has so many different designer sections, clothing, jewelry and even an ice cream shoppe! Upstairs is their "attic" full of mark down items and outside they have a 4 season room area filled with garden accessories. For Christmas they have an added on building attached to the 4 season room and its filled floor to ceiling with different Christmas collections. We went in to purchase a pair of Hey Dudes for our very picky teenager. There was a 17 yr old young man helping us. I'm sorry, but I forgot his name. He was incredibly helpful and friendly the entire time we were in there. We ended up finding the perfect pair and this young man was an integral part of making it happen! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they do not honor military families by giving a military discount. Considering all of the stores at the Pottery shopping center does and Dwayne's is right down the road from it, one would think they would. Dwayne's is a beautiful store and offers a great variety of what's new!!! read more

Wow! DeWayne's is awesome! I stopped by on my way back to Virginia and was super impressed by this giant gift shop and plant nursery. I was able to get quite a few Christmas gifts checked off while I was here. They've got a great selection of gifts, including things like Corcksicle, Vera Bradley, and Scout. There were lots of other really unique gifts too. For all the Christmas lovers out there (like me!) there is a huge set of rooms filled to the brim with Christmas ornaments and decor. I spent about an hour and a half here just taking it all in. Social distancing measures were in place and I felt really safe shopping here. All sales associates were wearing masks correctly and customers are required to wear a mask too. I highly recommend stopping by DeWayne's if you're passing by. There are lots of goodies to see, clean bathrooms, and all the snacks you could want, making it a great place to take a road trip break. read more

Just had a great experience with staff member Debi as she made us a couple of bows. She was very helpful. Made some suggestions of color blends and the size we'd need. Patience with us and with other customers that kept asking questions from behind us and while taking care of us. There were also plenty of employees around the store to help anyone. read more

I love all of the different options and brands that DeWagne's offers. They offer gift wrapping for $2.99. They also have a garden center & bakery that serves ice cream and fudge. What an awesome place to shop! So many useful, unique, and fun things in a variety of departments!! (too many to list but there is something for EVERYONE! My husband even enjoys going there and he doesn't like shopping!). Great ice cream and chocolate treats at the snack bar too. We bring all our out-of-area guests here and everyone loves it! Also a lot of local North Carolina products to choose from. Their plant area is immaculate and there is always a great supply of beautiful plants and accessories! I came here looking for houseplants. When you first walk in, it's hard to believe that there is a plant nursery onsite, but there is! This is a highly curated store. It's like Macy's, Bath & Body Works, and a plant store in one. I imagine it's a nice place to look for gifts during the holidays. The staff is nice and welcoming. The plants were about average, not too impressed with the quality or selection. I liked their garden decor though and if I was in the market to beautify my home, this would be a good store to go. Overall, it's a good store if you are looking for gifts, as I mentioned, and for decorating your home. I did not look at their clothing so I can't speak to that. If you want to go here just for plants, I'll say that it's a hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. read more

today i walked into dewayne's very happy, then i was trying to buy something for my mom and it happened to be a kendra scott bracelet. i was trying to locate the line for checkout and JOY yelled at me that i was not allowed to leave when i simply had no intention of leaving. i was patiently waiting to be seen when she continuously made rude remarks. i have never experienced such rude customer service and i was truly disappointed. do better. read more

Horrible! Return deadlines are VERY limited considering this business relies very heavily on I-95 travelers - and far more limited than nearby outlet stores. Staff tend to tell you returns are no problem...until you actually try to make one. I was told they would accept return of an expensive item when I bought it. But when I did return it, I was informed that, since they had sold the last of the item, they had no place to restock it. They're happy to take your money - not so happy to build customer relations. That was my last trip - I'll stick to outlets and in-town shops. read more

We've been stopping here since they first opened, from our first drives to Florida from New York.This was always out first stop which was 500 miles from our place in NY. At that time there was no one else on that road. No outlet stores, hotels. And we always felt good when in the store. The owners/staff always made you feel welcome. We bought many things there over these past 20+ years and have had some friends stay in the area when driving from NY or MA and RI...we've since moved to Naples, Florida in 2017 but when visiting up north once a year for our 2 1/2 week trek, we still stay at the Holiday Inn Express now and wait till they open at 10:00am. Funny, years ago in the mid '90's I remember asking if they had a website. I'm glad you're on YELP and connected with everyone now. Looking forward to stopping by this August on our trek up North again. Or South on our way back. Easy to remember where you are. It was Exit 95 on Route 95. To those who may be reading this to decide about stopping here.....make sure you get here before those outlet stores. The store has a large garden section with a variety of different plants and garden art available for purchase. The problem is that the plants are very over grown and many have fruits or vegetables on them that have started to rot or fall off because of age. The inside of the store is neat and also has a large selection of clothing, shoes, candy and snacks and many large brand sections (Eno, Chaco, yeti, vineyard vines). This is the 4 time I have been to this location and I have not had to wait in a long line any of the time. It has a good atmosphere with a staff that is helpful and available. read more

Associates were rude, not the first time we have experienced this, the cashier was especially rude. So much for shopping local on Good Friday. We were even questioned at the Kendra Scott counter if we wore a piece in, which I did. No ma'am, we are not thieves. Plus the ring I had on was NOT on display in the showroom. We did make a purchase and it does not matter if it was $2 or $200 - The cashier did not even say thank you and when we waited she rudely asked if we needed anything else. I was in need of a hostess gift for the home where we'd stay for the weekend. Well, keep driving. Unless you want to choose a very personal item, there's little to find for a generic home gift. A plant is always nice but that wouldn't work for this occasion. The place is laid out kind of boutique-ish. There are small departments for men, women, kids, pets. Very little to choose for a home, and what they had was severely overpriced. They did have lovely, healthy plants. Noted, they were fully staffed. Clean and orderly. But I couldn't locate a gift bag. No gift bags available. Why? Because this place wants you to pay $2 to have your purchase gift wrapped. Not what I was needing on this day. read more

Beautiful nursery and gift shop that was a magical experience. The staff greeted me at the door and explained the different area to explore. The gardening center was very well stocked and maintained with staff readily available to answer questions and offer suggestions. The pottery for sale was plentiful and varied. The gift section had clothing and unique jewelry for all ages and sexes. I believe there are 4 buildings total but I only made it to 2, saving the other 2 for another trip someday. Finished off with a glass of hand squeezed lemonade and taking a brief rest on one of their many benches before heading home. A little confusing on what this place is from the road but it was SO WORTH IT to stop in to check it out! It looks like a garden and nursery that has flair but when you walk in the front doors... it is so much more! Yes, it is a nursery/garden store around the outside but the inside has little sections of specialty boutique type items. There is a section of college gifts complete with unique items for State, Carolina and Duke. They have a separate room with Pandora jewelry, an area with a full display of Vera Bradley, hand painted pottery, a room of monogrammed items and even a Duck Dynasty area. The prices were fair and the people that worked in the shop were very friendly and personable. If you are in the Smithfield area near the outlets this is a MUST!!! read more

I was coming to the outlets and remembered how I always wanted to go to Dwayne's many times before and never went. I have to say that although it's a bit hard to get to from the highway but once you get there, it is absolutely amazing. It is a gift shop, boutique, and greenhouse all-in-one. It is truly the epitome of the Southern gift shop. You can find everything in here from Tervis cups and placards for your fireplace to rainbow sandals and beach gear to holiday decor. They have tons of brands like Pandora, John Medeiros, Costa, Vera Bradley, Spartina, Brighton, Alex and Ani, Simply Southern and every piece of southern kitsch you can dream up. Best of all they have a rewards program that rewards you when you buy and gift wrap for just $1. Needless to say this is one of my new favorite places and I will be frequenting it often. Be careful of holiday purchases. Most stores have a generous return policy for christmas gifts. Dewaynes does NOT. I received a gift for christmas and tried to return it. It was purchased the middle of December and I received it Christmas morning. I tried to return it the 2nd of January and was told it was beyond their 14 day return period. DO NOT PURCHASE GIFTS HERE UNTIL THE VERY END OF DECEMBER! This will give the recipient time to return the gift if they don't want it. Buyer beware! read more

Beautiful place, however, while standing in line to check out, as we became next in line, the cashier, Blake, looked at us and placed a closed sign down, walked away without saying a word - only to go to the next line, where we were, to organize hangers wearing a comical smile, as if we had become the butt of some inside joke. Even though we were the only African Americans in the store, we are hesitant to  assume this treatment was race based. What we do know it was rude and disrespectful. Make sure you go to the back of the store and experience "Christmas Land". Unique ornaments for sale and how they have decorated their trees is beyond gorgeous.
