I have been coming to Dr. Dewald for 11 years now, and he's the reason that I have stayed out of surgery for the herniated disk in my low back. The orthopedic surgeon told me that after seeing my X-ray, he expected me to walk into his office hunched over and in excruciating pain. I've been a long time fan and believer of Chiropractic care. For over 20 years, I've trusted my back health to my dear friend and Chiropractor. He has treated me through three back surgeries, and allowed me to maintain the ability to have a life pretty much void of pain. Unfortunately, he decided to retire from actively treating patients. His retirement lead me to search for a new Chiropractor, and I found my way to Dr. Dewald. I started my search with the Blue Cross doctor comparison chart, and transitioned my search to Yelp. I was impressed with the reviews that people left, and the detail they went into to describe their experiences. I decided based on the reviews, and the information I received from the Blue Cross site that I would give the office a try. From the initial phone call, I knew this was going to be a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Making the first appointment was a breeze. The receptionist/office manager was incredible polite, and thank me for considering them for my care. She informed me that I would receive a email with some first time patient forms that would need to be filled out prior to my office visit. I received the email with the forms 15 minutes later, and sent them back in completed. This system of having the forms emailed to you is a brilliant move. It saved valuable time that would have been wasted if I waited to fill them out in the office. It also provided Dr. Dewald the opportunity to preview them prior to my arrival. The office is a warm and inviting place. The staff greeted me the moment I walked through the door. Since 90% of my paperwork was done online, there were only a few short insurance questions to answer. Upon meeting Dr. Dewald, I was very impressed. He asked questions abut my history, and my current complaints. He said he was going to be very honest, and he was. His consultation was extremely thorough, as was the examination. I explained what my previous Chiropractor did as far as adjustments, and he built upon that and suggested other courses of treatment. I can say without hesitation, that this was one of the most complete and thorough adjustments that I've ever had. I was concerned that I wouldn't find a doctor that I could trust with my back and spine health, but after one visit I'm overjoyed with the care I've received from Dr. Dewald and his staff. If the level of care I received continues after this first visit, I'm a patient for life. I am going to be straight. This is a great office with a wonderful staff. This is the third chiropractor I have been to in my life, but hopefully the last one I'll ever need. Dr. Dewald runs his practice like a doctor should. He places all focus on his patients and not his bank account. He is more interested in helping you than taking your money, like so many others do. In my initial exam, he talked to me like a person and not like a patient. He gave me his opinions without BSing the hell out of the situation like the last doctor I saw did. He is also PUNCTUAL. I am not joking. You don't sit there for more than 5 minutes past your appointment time, and if you're late, you'll get the stare. haha! He runs his practice like any doctor's office SHOULD be run. The office is dimly lit and relaxing. New age music plays in the background. Its very similar to a holistic massage office I have been to. It is incredibly relaxing. That being said, my insurance is top-notch and allows me 70 visits a year. Between adjustments and weekly hour long massages, my husband and I are in tip-top shape for the mere price of our copay. If you are looking for a chiropractor, give him a try. You wont be let down, unless, of course, you love throwing your money at people. Towards the end of what seemed like a very long move from the San Fernando Valley to the Antelope Valley I threw my back out (again). I couldn't even get out of bed without help. In a desperate situation I knew there was no chance I could drive back to SF Valkey to see my Chiro so I threw a crap shoot and found this place. I called and they were able to see me 3 hours later, awesome! Once I got him, Tina made me super comfortable and then the doctor came in. He had me breathe then...CRACK!!!!!! I was able to move! DEWALD IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!(: I was actually pretty nervous to be adjusted, but I knew my body was screaming for it and so I made the appointment. He is very thorough and extremely gentle. Everything was discussed so problem areas were noted and completely taken care of. I've been seeing Dr. Dewald since back in the mid-nineties and can only say his staff and of the utmost in courtesy and professionalism. Once approved you can opted for the tens (electrical stimulation) or the physical therapy whichever seem appropriate for your back pain. I saw Dewald on July 27th because at the time I was 6 1/2 months pregnant and my hips had been bothering me. I figured a massage would really help. I don't really suffer from back issues rarely do I have an ache. So a few days before, I called and I asked if they offer massages specifically for pregnant woman. I have gone through a couple rounds of IVF to get pregnant and spent thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars a few years back. I became pregnant when doctors told me I couldn't. So one can imagine how paranoid and how CAREFUL I've been with this pregnancy. I went in, asked the girl before I laid down a few times, being nervous " You've worked on pregnant woman before right? You know what areas to stay away from?" She said yes. So even though I was nervous, my hips were achy and I had to try something. After my massage I felt better. She then stated "Okay so the Dr. is going to see you since you haven't been seen in a while, over a year. DO YOU WANT AN ADJUST?" "I said no thanks the massage is enough" Now, I rarely see a chiropractor, a friend I work with had recommended this office saying their massages are great and our insurance covers it. I'm not an expert on insurance, I usually call an office and see if they take my insurance. That was the case here. I wasn't aware, that if you get a massage, you HAVE TO GET ADJUSTED. So, Dewald came into the room, the tech explained my problem and mentioned I didn't want an adjust. He said "That's now gonna work, I'm not going to commit insurance fraud" I was confused at his attitude and the mention of insurance fraud because I didn't want to get an adjust. I said "Well I'm 6 1/2 pregnant and don't feel confortable" he said It's safe and if I just want a massage I can go somewhere else. (I'm a rude tone) Now, I'm nervous for my baby, and I have this Dr. mentioning fraud, so I said okay just one time on my upper back. He said not the neck? I said no, I'm not comfortable with that and my neck is fine. He said okay fine and I could clearly tell he was frustrated. You know what, I don't care how frustrated you get, my miracle baby that I've dreamed of for years comes first! I let you do an adjust still. NEVER again will I step foot there. The fact that he had no consideration for my big concern and the attitude really made me mad. What's even worse, I later went home to family and explained and they said they would never be adjusted while pregnant, Also, a friend of mine looked him up in Facebook where he publicly put a comment on his wall OBVIOUSLY about me dated the same day. (No name mentioned but obvious to me) Very professional Doctor. You're very rude, you could have professionally explained the massage insurance protocol whatever you call it instead in being so rude and publicly humiliating someone. My friends send me screen shots of your post and comments on Facebook. Maybe make your page private for when you want to humiliate and disrespect people. read more

I had another great experience at Dewald Chiropractic. I have a been a paitent for years and they never disappoint. It's been a couple years since I have been in and I was still treated like family. My treatment was great; tens machine, heat, massage by a wonderful technician (wish I could remember her name) and "thumper". Followed by a great adjustment by Doc. I highly recommend it.
