After discovering it was our first time in, the owner gleefully offered us a tour. His knowledge was outstanding, and he left no shelf unaddressed. I would guarantee that Al-Hikma has a book for any need one has of an Arabic book or any interest one has in the Arab world. There are books for learning Arabic (or for Arabs learning English), English books about Arab topics (pictured), Arabic books for every Arab country, beautiful religious books, specialized dictionaries, photo journal books, cook books, and much more. After more than an hour of our searching, the owner offered us tea and Arab sweets (probably not a guaranteed part of a visit, but we were lucky!). Their selection and feel was good. Though, I was specifically looking for Agatha Christie books and was kind of stunned they really did not have any. Though they did humorously have some sort of John Grisham original collection for way too much money to the point that I have no idea who would love/care about Grisham to that extent. Anyway, I enjoyed the experience there, worth checking out while being in the popular area that is Dupont Circle, and still am using my Second Story Books bookmark.

Book signings often take place here as well. Such an incredible selection of books. They've got rare books, used books, new books, and out of print books, banned books, and LGBTQ+ books. They also sell boutique items like pens and postcards. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have spent hours just getting lost in books here. It's a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
