Not impressed, while the quality of the cheesesteak was overall tasty, the lettuce was brown and just plain nasty and diminished the total sub...the "oven baked" fries were a complete fail as they were limp and jelly like...not to mention they take 15 minutes to make...maybe add a fryer to the mix fellas or use it if you have one. Unfortunately I will not be back $18=not again for this guy. Also the dude making the fries touches everything in the store and then proceeds to hand mix your fries before throwing them back in the oven without wearing any kind of nitrite gloves...gross, it being my first time there I didn't want to say anything so the fries went straight into the garbage...bummer. Surprised I haven't reviewed Devito's. The last three or four times I've visited Ocean City I get pizza and a sub from this place. Family owned establishment and the owner is always onsite making pizzas. That has appeal in itself to me. Takes a while for a pizza but they are made from scratch and made with quality ingredients. The good stuff takes time and is worth waiting for. I'm a big fan of the crust, thin but not too thin. Nice crunch, no flop. All the subs are fire too. Italian with hot peppers is as good or better than any grinder you'll find in O.C. They also have a bunch of different salads and side dishes sold in pints and quarts. This place is strictly carry-out, there are no seats to dine in. Devito's has a lot of competition on Coastal Highway but I keep coming back. Try it for yourself and see what you think, definitely worth hitting up if your staples are Lombardi's, Ponzetti's, or Tugo's. read more

We come to ocean city about twice a year, from Texas.. love devitos. Awesome sub combos and the bread is outstanding. Owner is a great guy, helpful and friendly. The Roman prince is my fav and I like to add sun dried tomato mayo. Steak and cheese is also a winner. Cold subs don't have a huge portion of meat, so if you want super meaty, just ask for more. Excellent covid precautions with a window to order outdoors. Highly recommend. read more

I travel from coast to coast for work and pleasure and I can tell you with all sincerity that Devito's deli has the best sandwiches I have ever in my 375 pound life tasted! Got a chance to talk to the owner and I told him how much I enjoyed my sandwich (which was the godmother and I highly recommend it) he gave me a quick little tour and showed me how he bakes the bread himself every day. The bread is small mini loaves somewhere between the perfect consistency of Italian crunchy bread and the sweet taste of a French baguette. No matter how you slice it this place is the best and it's easy on your Wallet when you're down here on vacation and spending money like it's going out of style. How anyone can rate this place less than five stars is beyond me, and indicates that the afflicted person is badly in need of a tongue transplant! read more

This sub shop wasn't great for a quick bite - there is no room to sit inside, so grab some subs for your day on the beach and you'll be pleased! Staff was so friendly! Also, the place is OC History - there is even a Devito day holiday recognized ;-) Ingredients were very fresh, bred was crusty and yummy. I have been in here a few times and they have had terrible customer service on at least three of my visits. On one occasion, I asked for a paper plate (there was a huge stack behind the register), but they said they weren't for customers. On two other occasions, I wanted a couple extra napkins, but they refused to give me any...told me there was one in the bag with a fork I asked for...I said "yes, but I can I have more?" and the kid behind the register wouldn't even acknowledge me...then he said "have a nice day" in a condescending tone on my way out. I just don't understand why they are so chintzy with giving paying customers paper products. They come off as cheap, when their prices aren't that cheap for their average tasting food. The place could also use a renovation...there's only a very small space for customers to order their food or wait, and behind the counter seems just as crowded. I witnessed one of the workers trip over a stool, as he was carrying a crate full of bread. The whole place just seems outdated and dirty. Don't want to be a Karen but there's better delis in the area than this one. Gave them two stars, because at least the bread was fresh and the cook was hustling. read more

How about that, real bread! I had the opportunity to get take out from Devito's the other day. I sampled three menu items. 1) A Pepperoni Pizza 2) Devito's Special Italian Cold Cut 3) The Godfather The Pepperoni Pie was stupendous, They have an older BLODGETT mini stack, and the owner/operator Mike knows how to use it. I was the pick-up delivery guy, and I noticed in the car the Pizza smelled old fashioned, I could practically taste being at my first pizza party as I toured South on Coastal hwy. When I finally got a taste, I was not disappointed. One of my co-diners commented that the sauce/cheese/meat ratio was perfect for the crust, I have to concur. The Italian from Devito's is flat out delicious, I had one about a month ago, and I knew the bread, a proper Italian hard roll, cooked on premise, made the Sammy. NO ONE in the OCMD metropolitan area serves a hard roll except Devito's. The Devito Italian and the Godfather (Roast Beef, Swiss Coleslaw & Thousand Is.) both rise above the competition because of it, a proper Torpedo. A true connoisseur of the deli meat sandwich, knows that a proper resting period is necessary after construction, for the flavors to meld, hard roll to soften, ect... This works out well for Devito's, the shop is setup for take-out and the obligatory travel after purchase from their 143rd street location to your favorite snack spot is bound to set you straight. I have not had the opportunity to make a purchase for a day on the beach, however, experience tells me a cooler full of Devito's delicacies, would be A-OK. read more

Absolutely delicious and authentic. The bread is freshly made and there's a lot of love that goes into this food. We have tried the pizza and subs. I recommend getting both. The sauce on the pizza is really good and definitely of high quality ingredients. The provolone they use for the subs has the best flavor. Just ordered a chicken cheesesteak sub from here today. They forgot the cheese which made for a pretty bland sub. I added some cheese myself, which improved it greatly. Small Italian deli with "ok" food. The italian cold cut was ok, but apparently they don't put peppered ham on their icc's. As for 'fresh baked bread' mine didn't taste fresh and the cheese was super thin. My husband said the pizza was horrible, and from the looks of it I don't have a problem believing him. The pizza and subs at this restaurant are the best. Owner mike starts early in the morning making fresh dough for the pizza and believe it or not he bakes his sub rolls fresh every day, making all of his subs incredible. He makes his own sauce for the pizza and combined with fresh dough, homemade sauce, and good quality cheese , it's a great pizza. He uses great quality meats, oils, and cheeses on his subs. Unfortunately I have been on a diet for the past year which requires no bread and a little custom preparation. With covid Mike has gone to on-line ordering which is easy except when you want to communicate with the chef. I miss ordering sliced meats. Their sopressata and aged provolone are fantastic but due to the new ordering process and covid, it's no longer available. read more

Went to Pozettis in same shopping center but after waiting for over an hour for carry out service and incredibly rude service walked to DeVitos where in 10 minutes we were served excellent Italian Cold Cuts and were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff! I have been on a desperate one year crusade to find a good sub in North OC. DeVito's was oh so close. The sub was good. The employees were super nice. The roll was good. Here is where they lose it. They don't offer fries. Sorry but to me sub and fries go together like oil and vinegar. To me it is unthinkable for a sub shop to not offer fries. Bummer. read more

Stopped at Devito's today to get subs to take out on the beach. There is a large selection to chose from. We ordered The Godfather & the Italian sub. We placed them in our cooler to eat a few hours later. Our Sandwiches were Amazing! The bread is delicious crisp on the outside soft on the inside and the bread has a slight sweet taste to it. The Godfather had delicious roast beef and coleslaw, not a combination I would have thought of but truly delicious. The service in the shop was awesome. The owner extremely humble and kind ! Devitos is a sub stand where you go and get freshly baked bread and nice employees taking care of you with rapid speed. I've had the Cuban Heel and the Gaslight, so that's a short selection.
