I first met Lauren about 6 months ago when she gave a presentation about branding, website design, and SEO to my business class. Two things struck me initially: the first was her enthusiasm to teach. I learned so much in that hour class about logo design, do's and don't of web marketing, and what to look for in a website designer. The second was her honesty. For example, some designers charge per page to design your website which sounds ok but in fact has no correlation to how much work the project requires. It is very easy for a designer to add extra pages of simply text that literally takes seconds to generate and are not work that additional charge. Lauren keeps it simple and has a base hourly rate as well as various packages for a flat rate. Which brings me to the BEST reason to hire Lauren is that she is BOTH an awesome graphic designer AND a kick-butt website designer. I honestly don't know of any other people who can wear both hats so excellently as Lauren. It saved me the time, trouble, and money from finding two separate professionals to do what Lauren does. For example, I purchased a package deal from her (Logo Biz Pack) and for a flat rate she designed my logo from scratch, designed an awesome custom website with all kinds of crazy features, and also designed my business cards which look simply AMAZING! I am currently in business and get all kinds of compliments and referrals simply due to the quality of my website and logo. DevinePortfolio Inc was selected to provide graphic design services on two projects. Both task consisted of converting artwork (complete in design) to a vector format. The artwork needed no additional creative input or any type of designing. The designer completed the project and was paid immediately the full balance of $325 ($100 deposit + $225 balance). DesignPortfolio was then contacted a couple days later to make minor edit on a color change to a small portion of the design. This edit didn't require any additional designing other than to change color. DesignPortfolio proceeded to contact me for image files in order to change color which interrupted my workday. This request of image files was not acceptable since DesignPortfolio was the originator of all vector files. Upon completion of making the edit of a color change, DesignPortfolio sent an invoice of $325?This charge amount was given no courtesy of possible or estimate of $325 prior to work being started. Before reacting, I researched with four graphic designers of this incident which all agreed the amount of work needed to make a color change was not ethical or industry standard of charging $325. As this incident was occurring, the second task was started to once again convert complete artwork to a vector format. Artwork was sent to DesignPortfolio with no additional need for edit or design work. DesignPortfolio forwarded a draft that was completely different than my original design. It was taken upon DesignPortfolio to make design edits. The work was not acceptable since it didn't follow my original artwork request nor did I walk away with any vector files. DesignPortfolio demanded to be paid for work regardless of not following my specific request. It wasn't until after I selected DesignPortfolio that I checked out her online posted qualifications resumes that she had multiple misspellings on a both. From there I should've realized her lack of professionalism as a graphic artist. If she doesn't proofread her own work than she can't be trusted as a hired artist. read more
