This year was his first time in a traditional school setting, and unfortunately, he experienced some bullying. He's naturally very shy, doesn't have many friends his age, and lacks confidence. That's what led his dad and I to look into self-defense classes--not because we want him to fight, but because we want him to feel confident, strong, and capable of standing up for himself. Walking into the class, he was extremely nervous. He didn't know what to expect, and honestly, neither did we. At one point, I truly thought he was going to ask to leave because he felt so overwhelmed. But then one of the senseis noticed him struggling and came over. He spoke to him so kindly and patiently, reassuring him that he was safe, that this was just a trial class, and that he would help him learn step by step. That moment meant everything. He didn't just teach--he connected. He took the time to guide him, correct him gently, and make him feel comfortable. THANK YOU ! Sensei JERELL CEPHAS By the end of the class, I expected my son to say he never wanted to come back... but instead, he surprised me. He said, "Yes, I was really scared and nervous... but I liked it. I think I need this. I had fun." And to please enroll him into classes . That right there meant the world to me. All of the senseis were great, but the patience, care, and attention this sensei showed my son truly stood out. If you have a child who is shy, struggling with confidence, or just needs a positive environment to grow, I highly recommend this place. My son came home and tried to practice the moves he was told in class and wanted to learn more ! :)

Both my kids train, and now they even got my husband and I training. Originally we signed my son up because he was getting bullied really bad at school, he desperately needed to build his confidence. Odin's has been a saving grace for him and helped him to better handle situations on and off the mat. It's helped him regulate his emotions better, and he has something he LOVES doing and is fantastic at. Now he's competing! The coaches are amazing with kids, they just have a special way of teaching their art and these kids are complete beasts. The people here are awesome and we've made life long friends, all around an amazing place to be. I never thought I'd be doing jiujitsu, the instruction is top notch and the coaches make us feel very comfortable! We love this place! Highly recommend.

I'm writing this to inform other parents about our experience at Odin's Halls BJJ…read more My seven year old son trained there for four months. When we signed the 12-month contract, I specifically asked what would happen if he lost interest. At his age, that's always a possibility. We were told by one of the coaches that early cancellation would result in a one- to two-month penalty. Based on that representation, we signed. After four months, we decided to withdraw him because we were not satisfied with the quality of his training. When I informed the school and the owner, Steve, that we intended to cancel, I was told we would have to pay half of the remaining contract balance. That was not clearly stated in the agreement as we understood it, nor was it what we were told at enrollment. When I raised this discrepancy, Steve stated the coach had been "misinformed" and "misspoke." After I remained firm on canceling, communication stopped. That raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability. The more troubling issue happened later at a NAGA tournament. After leaving Odin's Hall, there was a break in my son's training while we searched for a new academy. He then joined Cobrinha and registered for the novice, no-submission division (white belt, six months and under training). At the tournament, we were informed that a coach from Odin's Hall contacted the organization claiming my son should be bumped up to the beginner division (with submissions) because he had trained over six months at their gym and had prior wrestling experience. This was inaccurate. * He trained at Odin's Hall for four months. * We had email documentation confirming the cancellation timeline. * There was a gap in training before he joined his new academy. * The brief wrestling class he attended was actually a requirement at Odin's Hall for their competition team -- and all of their students participate in wrestling. What shocked me most was the attempt to move a seven-year-old into a submission division when they knew they had never taught him submissions. This tournament division was specifically six months and under, novice, no-submission for safety reasons. Moving him up would have exposed him to techniques he had not been trained to defend against. As a parent, that is extremely concerning. Youth martial arts programs should prioritize child safety and development above rivalry or competitive positioning.

We found Victory Martial Arts through a promo they were running on Facebook. When we attended, it happened to be during one of the Tiny Tiger programs itself so I was able to see how professional and engaging the teachers are as well as how well behaved the kids are. Obviously they are at the age where their attention wanders, and while my kids are very guilty of this, the instructors and their student helpers are fantastic with reengaging them. My children are learning life skills, like defense against strangers, respect, as well as gaining self confidence all wrapped up in a fun environment that they look forward to coming to every week. It's also a bonus - the Tiny Tigers program has a class every day of the week so if I needed to switch our schedule around - I absolutely can. Which really works out well for our busy family. We love Victory Martial Arts and am very glad that we signed up!

The deal was 18 months for the price of 12, with full payment required upfront. It sounded like a great offer, so I agreed and paid in full. Right after the call, I received the membership agreement by email--but it only showed 12 months, not 18 as promised. I immediately tried to call Jack, but couldn't reach him. When he responded the next day via text, he said the manager at the time, Chris Ortega, would take care of it. He explained that the extra 6 months wouldn't appear on the contract because it was a special promotion, but assured me it would be added. I trusted that explanation. About 6 months later, another employee approached me about a new promotion. I declined, assuming I still had plenty of time left on my membership. That's when I was told my contract was only for 12 months. By then, both Jack and Chris were no longer with the gym. I spoke with the current manager, who told me he could only honor what was written in the contract and couldn't do anything about what was promised by previous staff. While I understand his position, it doesn't change the fact that I paid based on a deal that was never honored. Overall, this experience felt misleading and disappointing. I recommend getting everything clearly written in your contract before making any upfront payments.
