We arrived at 9:15am on a weekday so the crowds were small and the weather cool and comfortable. We did the Multnomah Wahkeena falls loop which was about 5.5 miles. The trail was well groomed and easy to follow. The two namesake falls were the most stunning but there were many beautiful falls, vegetation, and overlooks along the way. Lots of switchbacks but overall I'd rate the trail medium in difficulty. We ran into a few people along the way but it was not very crowded. The paths to both the falls are paved (but steep). Only one annoying, having-a-fit-kid seen along the way. Ha ha. Felt more sorry for the mom. People were friendly. Great experience.

Latourell Falls doesn't scream for attention like the big-name spots, but it should. No drama, no overcomplicated tiers... just gravity doing its job perfectly. The real win here is the surroundings. Everything feels thicker, quieter, and more wrapped in forest. Moss on everything, trees leaning in like they're watching, and that old bridge tucked into the background like it's slowly being reclaimed. Compared to the others: Less crowded, which already puts it ahead Short walk to the main view, but still has trails if you want more Feels more natural, less like a tourist checkpoint You can stand there and actually hear the water instead of a dozen people narrating their lives. That alone is worth the stop. Only downside: It's easy to underestimate. People hit it quick and leave, not realizing this is one of the cleaner, more honest views in the Gorge.

It'll be a hike up to get there, roughly around 10 minutes. It's a steep climb but the view is rewarding. There's also a pathway around the waterfall that takes you further down the forest area. Go if you dare! And wear your hiking shoes cause you'll need it! The power of the streams will make the area have heavy mist as you get closer to the waterfall so be mindful of that. I can't describe it any better; see it for yourself!

Currently, there are a long row of cement jersey barriers taking up most of the parking area. Only room for 1-2 cars, safely. It's not the best area for u-turns, so plan accordingly. This park is very lush with picnic tables and grills spread out for privacy. The view of the lake is gorgeous! There are over 6 miles of trails, some of which intertwine. If you're new to these trails, a map is a good idea; one could easily get lost if not familiar as the trails aren't all marked. I just took a picture of the trail map by the parking area to have as reference in case I needed it. The trails are lush and mainly dirt and rocks. If you walk down to lower falls the trail can be a little more treacherous. Some of the hills are steep and some rocks loose. Make sure you wear the proper footwear. There are a few falls to see, many creeks, a dam and a couple lakes (Lacamas and Round). Overall a wonderful place to get outside for fresh air and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.
