Our original plan was to continue to take the historic Columbia River highway, stopping by the most popular falls (Multnomah) before coming here. Instead, we found Multnomah's parking to be getting full, and the road closed at that area. So we circled back to I-84, to come here. It ended up being my favorite falls, mainly because it was so accessible from where we parked. There was plenty of parking, even into the late morning. One can immediately hear the falls, even from the parking lot. One can then climb down stairs, and cross some uneven terrain to get to the bottom. My wife and I took this route, and Mom was able to get some nice pictures of us waving. A nice way to end our waterfall morning tour.

Short walk, not much effort, and suddenly you're staring at a clean drop of water tucked into thick green forest. Compared to Nevada, this place feels like someone turned the saturation all the way up and forgot to turn it back down. The lower viewpoint gives you the classic shot, but if you wander a bit, you'll catch different angles and smaller side flows that most people ignore while they rush back to the parking lot. Wildlife bonus: geese everywhere, and yes... their turds are absolutely that big. Consider it part of the authentic experience. Then there's the unexpected highlight... a tiny Jesus figurine casually posted up on a wood waste bin like he's supervising the whole operation. Didn't expect spiritual oversight on a waterfall trip, but here we are. He seemed pretty calm about the crowd, the noise, and humanity in general. Probably seen worse. Overall: Easy access, great views, ridiculously green, and just weird enough to be memorable.

It has a decent size paved parking lot (with spots for 15 cars or so), with a lot of surrounding greenspace. It has two trails, one a self-contained one that provides views of the nearby highway. The second goes down, to a bridge that crosses the Falls. The park also has an indoor bathroom. To get to the falls, one must take the downward hike to the path on the right. I got as far as the bridge to see the stream, but didn't realize until later that I needed to go further to actually see the falls. Notes: -- 118 feet high -- named for the resemblance to the delicate veil of a bride

The scenic highway is about 10 miles long with single lanes in each direction. Alongside six…read morewaterfalls, there are several viewpoints including Vista House, a museum and a conference center. Parking lots are available near Multnomah, Bridal's Veil and Latourell falls. The parking fee is $12 for all lots for the day. It took us about 2.5 hours to drive from Multnomah falls to all the way down to end of the highway. The duration varies based on the time spent on each of the location along the way. The highway is in good condition, I didn't notice any ditch or broken patches. Up from the hill, most of the drive had stunning view of the Columbia river, the banks and surrounding landscape. The I-84 interstate runs along some part of the drive, adding some excitement with the high speed traffic. All in all it is one of the must visit places for anyone visiting Portland, Oregon.

As you follow the twists and turns of the road, incredible vistas of the Columbia River, the basalt cliffs of the gorge and the rolling hills dotted with orchards and farms awaken all of your senses. This is incredible territory and makes you understand why the early settlers came from far away to live here! Accolades to the Civic Engineering team who built the the many stone guardrails with arches, meticulous work to creat the symmetry, and the many tunnels along the way. The tunnels were cut right into the rock cliff. Amazing! over 100 years later, we are still marveling at the engineering feat and using this road, tunnels and bridges to explore this marvelous country. In several areas there are white metal guardrails that create a stunning contrast to all the green and blue along the way. The road starts around Corbett - make sure to stop At Chanticleer Point for the most amazing view, the Crown Point and Vista House for more - and continue to Hood River and then Mosier, a quant and charming town of just 430. Along the way there are dozens of trails to hike, look out points to pull over, and waterfalls to see from the road. This route never gets boring. Every day is different based in the sun, clouds, blooms and foliage. it's living art and it makes me happy every single time I am traveling this route. Breathe it all in, it's good for the soul!

Great loop hike! We…read morechose to start at Multnomah and finish at Wahkeena, and taking off on Sunday about 9am we beat most of the crowds. Even though you're in a burn zone much of the way, the forest and waters are still beautiful. It's about 5 1/2 miles, starting with the elevation zigs and zags of the Multnomah climb, you'll reach little Dutchman Falls not long after you've made it to the top, followed closely by Weisendanger (with its gorgeous approach) and Ecola (you'll walk right next to the drop). Signage is good, as you make the turn away from Larch Mtn and towards Fairy Falls (a magical lil drop)...and back down the zigs and zags to Wahkeena (always pretty). The trail was in pretty decent shape this weekend, but watch your step...not just for loose or rocky footing but for all the caterpillars currently crossing the path. We got so sad seeing so many lives cut short that we started helping them along to safety as we hiked. No matter from which falls you opt to start your loop, there's a great connector trail between the two to get you back to your car safely. Great loop, great trail, and great waterfall fun. :)

We arrived at 9:15am on a weekday so the crowds were small and the weather cool and comfortable. We did the Multnomah Wahkeena falls loop which was about 5.5 miles. The trail was well groomed and easy to follow. The two namesake falls were the most stunning but there were many beautiful falls, vegetation, and overlooks along the way. Lots of switchbacks but overall I'd rate the trail medium in difficulty. We ran into a few people along the way but it was not very crowded. The paths to both the falls are paved (but steep). Only one annoying, having-a-fit-kid seen along the way. Ha ha. Felt more sorry for the mom. People were friendly. Great experience.

We got there late in the day, so we found a spot, but most people would need to park along the road. The trail itself has a moderately steep climbs, but I ran into one hiker who was leery of the narrow trails. This is not a trail I would recommend tackling in flip flops. The trail narrows to a rocky, sometimes muddy single track. All-in-all, though, the falls themselves in its secluded amphitheater make the effort worth it.

The waterfall itself is quite tall and shaded even in the early afternoon. Parking wasn't too much of an issue since this waterfall isn't overcrowded like multnomah falls. If you're looking for a short hike, ~1.5 miles round trip, to see a different waterfall I'd check this out.

It was perfect weather for our hike on September 3, 2021 & it took my hubby & I almost 2 hours to hike up to the Pool of The Winds waterfall & back down. We did make multiple stops along the trail to take pictures/videos & to catch our breath. :)) While, I don't consider myself an avid hiker, I do consider myself in pretty good shape BUT I did NOT feel in good shape a few times during our hike up Hamilton Mountain! Going straight up that mountain is no joke! No worries though, I pulled through & made my way up that mountain & back down w/out any assistance...barely! :)) There are a few spots where the climb is very steep & slippery so be mindful of your steps. For sure having actual hiking boots would have served me better than the running shoes, I had on. Okay, so enough of my "out of shape" info..let's move on to the awesomeness of Hamilton Mountain Trail. As you are climbing up the trail, you're surrounded by huge trees & everything around you is so still & just peaceful. There is a small bench for sitting along the way & if you keep going pass that, you eventually come to an open clearing and the waterfalls. The waterfalls themselves are just so awesome! Mother Nature really is displaying her best work when you're standing right next to a waterfall! The Pool of The Winds waterfall was my favorite & there's a bridge right beneath it that is the perfect picture backdrop. I also wanted to add that it wasn't crowded at all during our visit & we did go on a Saturday around 2:30pm. Lastly, there was plenty of parking & a restroom at the beginning of the trail head. The hike to Rodney Falls and Pool of the Winds seemed do-able, and we had a short amount of time, so we thought we could knock it out. As we started out, we learned that it had a pretty steep incline, and was a bit of a butt burner on the way up. I'm not an avid hiker, so let's just say I had a bit of a rough time (gasp) with lots of stops for photos (read: to catch my breathe). There are tons of trees for shade, with a few sun spots here and there. Just as I thought I couldn't hike another step, a fellow hiker offered encouragement, letting me know it was just a few minutes farther. And boy was it worth it. Pool of the Winds is a gorgeous falls with a clear pool of mountain water. And there are several spots to get good views of Rodney Falls and to continue on the hike if you choose (I did not!). Easy time going down. Quite a few people had hiking poles, to make it easier on the knees. I'd call this a success! (even with sore legs for a day or two afterward).

Beautiful backdrop, but waterfall is a bit wimpy…read more After crossing the bridge I continued on for .5 mile, but the path just seemed to parallel loud I-84. Upper McCord Creek Falls is peaceful 1.3 mile moderate hike via mainly switchbacks. What was particularly pleasing was the catwalk views of the Gorge and flat paths among the trees. It's far from busy, very tranquil people-wise compared to other falls in the area. The parking lot is small.
