The wooden bridge over into the garden was cool though and I feel like it will look 90% better in the spring.

The park is designed to be very family friendly, it's a beautiful urban plaza. Gateway Discovery Park is a 3.2-acre park for the community to play, celebrate, meet, and discover! There's a large plaza, lawn, porch, skate dot, accessible play area, outdoor fitness equipment, and a picnic area. It's a great place to meet your neighbors, hold your community event, or to enjoy a picnic! The park will have year-round programming and staff on site, there's even a Portland Loo! Tip: There's not a lot of shade, so be ready for sun, if it's sunny!

The restrooms were both clean and stocked. Parking could be challenging at times, but on this beautiful summer midweek trip, there was plenty.

It's more of a butte in height, rather than a mountain, so don't let the name discourage or mislead you. They have a parking lot at the top and a loop trail with inclines you can explore in under an hour. There's also a large covered picnic shelter at the top with attached restroom facilities. They have a couple of open, grassy areas if you want to play frisbee or bring some other yard games. At the moment (October 2023), the only downside was there is a new residential subdivision being built next to it, so there was a lot of construction noise on that side of the trail.

A small sideline for parents divides the field from a modest play structure and a basketball hoop. Basically just what you want to see when you have a younger child in tow who needs to be entertained while the older sibling takes the field. The park is nestled in a neighborhood, so a great resource for locals. A small covered shelter, which is important on a hot day, because there are almost no other shady spots in this park. Well designed space, just not a lot special features or character.

As for the kids play area, it is a lot smaller than it appeared to be on the advertisement. There is a spiderweb like play gym, and a spin-o-wheel. Theres another area with a higher climbing gym and 1 slide. This area has swings but not many, and only 1 or 2 for small toddlers. Another area is almost entirely rock climbing (for little kids). There is a large soccer field next to the playground, a basketball and tennis court, and a skateboard area that was all older adults (who were using adult language and seemed to be imbibing in marijuana products). I won't be bringing my child back to this park. It is out of the way for my family, although I can see this is a nice thing to have if you happen to live in the neighborhood.

This park is about a block off of 82nd Ave. And just a few blocks south of Powell. So you would…read morethink that it would be, maybe, kinda, well... Let's just say under served. But surprisingly, this patch of grass has a lot going for it. There are open fields, fun water features for those hot summer days, shade trees, restrooms, and all sorts of amenities. There are not a ton of green spaces in the immediate area and so this multiple - block park does a good job of creating some nice, expensive, open space for the locals to play. It's not a bad spot to lay out a blanket on a warm sunny day and enjoy a picnic. Also the water and Play structures offer decent entertainment for the kiddos in your group. I've only been by this park A few times, as there are other, nicer parks closer to my house. However every time I drop by, I'm always surprised at how well equipped this park is. Props to Portland and the neighborhood for keeping it real.
