There's plenty of space for picnicking, and they have lots of picnic tables & grills. This is a popular place to fish along the river. No trails as far as we could tell. Plenty of water/river access, but you can't really walk along the river if that was your plan. There is a large picnic shelter that was closed up with locked gates, so I'm not sure if that can be reserved for use. The restroom at the shelter was also locked, but there were 2 port-a-potties in the park (one at the front & one in the back). read more

Absolutely beautiful park with camping, restrooms and dogs permitted. Fishing by the river or just sitting is serene and peaceful. Sandy shore with some large and medium rocks to navigate. Serious about driving slow through the park! read more

I have a proposal. Now, I haven't yet been here when it's busy (which is why I hope no one reads this review), but rumor has it Dodge was really hopping in the 19-teens and 20s when they had a trolley that ran out there called the Picnic Train: http://bit.ly/XFwWA The Park and community building are undergoing some renovations, but apparently the Picnic Train is not in the current set of plans. 45 minutes from Portland. No park fees. Plentiful picnic benches, BBQ grills and easy access to the river everywhere you turn. I'm here officially proposing the immediate re-institution of a Picnic Train. This park was awesome, dog friendly, well lit, and clean. It's right off the road too not hard to find (bring exact change though) or you'll be driving 15 more minutes into Sandy. Also bring a roll of quarters for the showers. Lynn the camp director is one of the coolest people I've ever met. She was super helpful in directing me to cool things to see in Oregon. There is a nice swimming hole just behind the camp and if your feeling adventurous hike a mile up stream and see a small but beautiful waterfall read more

I hadn't been back to this park in many years. It used to be dirty and attracted partiers, not really a place I'd want to take my family. Late afternoon on one of the hottest days this summer, we decided to have a picnic somewhere where we could get wet. This park is only about 30 minutes from our house and has access to the Sandy and Bull Run Rivers. We decided to give it a try, and a lot has changed in the last ten years. The park was clean and well maintained, with clean showers and bathrooms. They now allow camping and there is a host on site (from mid-May until the end of September). What hasn't changed is that it's still free for day use (camping is about $20 a night). Since we went on a weekend, it was very crowded. We had to wait for someone to leave in order to park, and there were no picnic tables available. So, be sure and bring chairs or get there early on busy days. This is also a popular place for fishing, launching boats, and rafting--making it even more difficult to find a parking place. The park mainly attracts families nowadays. As a relatively shy person, I don't usually go out of my way to talk to strangers or speak Spanish. But, my old oil-thirsty car had been driven so much this summer that I ran low on oil and didn't have any in the trunk. I spent the first half hour chatting with people and everyone was so helpful. Someone offered to drive and get me oil if I couldn't find any. The last person I talked to gave me a big jug of oil and would not take any money for it. I ended up with enough extra oil to keep some in the trunk for future emergencies. Everyone I talked to was so nice and friendly. But, if you're looking for solitude, Dodge park is not a good choice. So I wouldn't really want to camp here, but it is a nice place for a picnic. read more

It's free, it's beautiful, it's a great place to go fishing, have a barbeque, or just hang out by the water. If only our overpopulated city didn't dump a ton of shirtless party people here in the summertime. Oh, well. We enjoy it through the spring when it's fairly desolate. read more

We came out tonight to go camping... We just had a death in the family and are grieving. We had our car parked in the tent sites for 5 minutes... The camp host came in with his gold cart and word from word started yelling at us... " what are you doing? Get off this site right now! Get off! " We explained to him that we didn't see the signs (it happens) and he continued to yell at us to get off. I approached him and asked if he could please be more nice about it and he continued to yell at us and say extremely rude comments. If I was a manager in a store and talked to a customer like he did to us, I would be fired. I couldn't believe someone could be that rude to someone who is paying to camp on their sites. Like I said, one of our family members just died and he made our night so much worse than it already was. I would not recommend coming to this place. I will NEVER camp here ever again. read more

Great Park to head to with the family especially if it's not a holiday or very busy weekend easy access to the water two. Make sure you bring your sunscreen as there's not much cover on the day use Beach but the camping grounds have plenty of large mature trees for shade and fun outside of the Sun. There's no alcohol but you'll see plenty of people hanging out having a couple Brews anyways especially under the bridge and on the Sandy Beach. Bring a cooler a towel and be ready to make some new friends as it can get crowded quick around the noon hour especially on weekends. Most people are respectful and responsible as far as I've experienced. read more
