Bridal Veil Falls is one of those places that looks like a postcard even when your phone camera is having an off day. Short walk, not much effort, and suddenly you're staring at a clean drop of water tucked into thick green forest. Compared to Nevada, this place feels like someone turned the saturation all the way up and forgot to turn it back down. The lower viewpoint gives you the classic shot, but if you wander a bit, you'll catch different angles and smaller side flows that most people ignore while they rush back to the parking lot. Wildlife bonus: geese everywhere, and yes... their turds are absolutely that big. Consider it part of the authentic experience. Then there's the unexpected highlight... a tiny Jesus figurine casually posted up on a wood waste bin like he's supervising the whole operation. Didn't expect spiritual oversight on a waterfall trip, but here we are. He seemed pretty calm about the crowd, the noise, and humanity in general. Probably seen worse. Overall: Easy access, great views, ridiculously green, and just weird enough to be memorable. read more

Bridal Veil Falls was the third waterfall that my wife, her mom, and I stopped by, around 8:51 am, to the Bridal Veil state park. It has a decent size paved parking lot (with spots for 15 cars or so), with a lot of surrounding greenspace. It has two trails, one a self-contained one that provides views of the nearby highway. The second goes down, to a bridge that crosses the Falls. The park also has an indoor bathroom. To get to the falls, one must take the downward hike to the path on the right. I got as far as the bridge to see the stream, but didn't realize until later that I needed to go further to actually see the falls. Bridal's Veil is another popular and adventurous waterfall in the Columbia scenic drive. There's a parking lot next to the road. This fall has the farthest trail walk from its parking. The trail is steep and through the trees. Not friendly for young kids. Since we had our 6 yo with us, we felt it was dangerous for her. So we abandoned the trail walk and looked around the surrounding near the lot. read more

Bridal Veil Falls in Multnomah County offers two short trails: a paved overlook trail with panoramic Columbia River Gorge Views and a steep rocky trail leading to the base of the two tied Bridal Veil Falls. This park can be found just off the Columbia River Highway. The overlook trail from the parking lot is just 0.5 mile loop , whereas the Falls trail is 0.3 mile descent to the base of the 120 foot falls. The falls trail is a bit dangerous during the raining season, as slippery, so wear good shoes and be careful. During off season this trail tends to be empty. On the day that we visited, just after Xmas the parking lot was empty. It was raining and cold during the day. During the summertime, I imagine the parking lot could fill up quickly as not super big. Although less people know about this fall, even though its close to all of the other big falls in the area. If visiting during the winter time, you may rewarded with a very full waterfall- in 2025 during the holiday season the falls were very full. Bridal Veil Falls in the Columbia River Gorge and a moderately sized waterfall. This waterfall is hidden gem, with less than 10 visitors, so we got the waterfall to ourselves for a bit. The Bridal Veil Falls is definitely worth a visit if you're already nearby. As I said within the area, there's over 70 waterfalls. The Park Ranger shared that name "bridal veil" is type of waterfall style. Interesting!!! Bridal Veil Falls is not the tallest or most famous waterfalls in the gorge, but it offers a good experience with just the right amount of hiking with lots of view across the river. The trail to the falls is short -- about 0.5 miles round trip -- but it's a bit steep and can be slippery after rain, so wear good shoes, as I saw a few visitors unable to walk down the path to be closer to the base waterfall. And in the general area, we found the last crop, from this season's of blackberries ....I braved it and ate a handful of them and luckily no stomach aches! A 2/3rds of a mile hike. Quick and enjoyable in my opinion. I'd say, if you're coming here from Vista House and maybe stop by Latourell Falls, then plan a stop here. This one has a small parking lot and restrooms, but I feel most folks avoid this one because of the short hike. I've seen many families do this hike with ease. Even my niece with a foot cast on made it through. Though maybe not so easy for folks with disabilities. Here's more of a description: The trail zig-zags downward, so be aware during the winter time as it can be muddy or icy. Dry and manageable during the summer. A couple of small bridges, a few stairs along the way, and a small wooden deck for observations. I've even witnessed folk climb along the side of the falls and head back to the parking lot. Excellent for pictures, but can be a bit crowded at times. Regardless, these falls are worth a visit, if you ask me! read more

I've never been to this waterfall before, but I've known of it for years, but I'm glad I finally got to do this and had a picnic there. Got a great spot with two tables and a beautiful view of the river. Day started off cloudy but it ended up getting sunny later on after our lunch. Short walk to the waterfall but very beautiful and great scenery and a whole bunch of old rusty nails, which I'm not sure if that's from a long long time ago and what not but still awesome, minus the tetanus so be careful. I definitely recommend coming here. read more

Visted during the week at the end of October and hardly anyone was on the trail at the time. Parking was easy and as you pull in you see the picturesque lodge and the trail head starts right by the bathrooms. If you didn't want to head down the trail to the falls you can take in the sites of the Columbia River just to the left of the bathrooms. Heading down the trail is relatively easy though it's good to be wearing some shoes with grip as some areas could be slippery. The trek back up the trail is a little more intense but not overwhelmingly so and the effort is so worthwhile as the falls itself is a site to behold and the hike was one of our favorites. So much beauty to take in and many photo moments along the way as you traverse down to the creek and waterfall area. Highly recommend going in the "off-season" and also getting there early. We arrived just after 9 a.m. and literally just two other cars in the parking lot. read more

I haven't done much hiking, so I like the trails at Bridal Veil Falls because they're relatively easy and good for beginners. The longer trail to and from the waterfall is about 2/3 miles round-trip, and whenever we've done it, it's been easy to combine with other sites on the same day because it's short. I like that the falls here are further from the road, so you end up in a peaceful viewing spot. There is also a nice-sized parking lot at the entrance to the trails, but it can get crowded on a nice day. read more

Multnomah Falls is the beauty and most visited waterfall in Oregon, but Bridal Veil falls is underrated and beautiful too. Wish more people could see that. Short hike, take 15 mins to reach the falls. There are some inclines, some of the hike is paved, but mostly dirt path. You do cross a foot bridge before reaching the falls. There is lookout tower you can take pics at. I went down the hill to see the falls closer look, it was magical seeing the light hit the top of the falls. Felt mesmerizing and relaxing to watch the water fall down. Took a slow mo video. Plus my bf and I were the only hikers on this trail, had the whole waterfalls to ourselves Wed morning. It was a treat. We spent 20 mins here before heading to Multnomah falls. Plenty of parking and the restrooms are open. Clean and well maintained trail. This is one of the many waterfalls or hiking trails along the Columbia gorge scenic route. read more

Don't miss out on Bridal Veil Falls! Everyone goes to to Multnomah because it's bigger and more grandiose, but Bridal Veil is no less beautiful. We got here on President's Day at around 10:30 AM and there weren't too many people on this chilly and damp day. It's about a 3/4 mile round trip hike on a paved trail, so totally doable. My only recommendation would be to go before Multnomah (if you are coming from Downtown Portland) because it's along the way. If you do what we did and go to Multnomah first, you'll have to drive back towards Portland to make a U-turn to head to the Bridal Veil Falls exit. It tacks on another 10 minutes of driving, which doesn't seem like much but if you're like us and just visiting/pressed for time, then it makes a huge difference. read more

Alright well, Bridal Veil Falls obviously cannot be compared to Multnomah Falls, Latourell Falls and Horsetail Falls. For me...those waterfalls are in another league of their own! No question about it from my point of view. Still...Bridal Veil Falls was nice. It was fine. And along my journey across the amazing Columbia River Gorge and "Waterfall Way"...Bridal Veil Falls was worth a visit. It's not too majestic but certainly was satisfactory enough in the whole context of this scenic area. Bridal Veil Falls is a roadside stop situated right off Columbia River Gorge. It cannot be missed and signs for it are clear and concise. I discovered it past Latourell Falls but before Horsetail Falls. Good thing about being here, the parking lot wasn't crowded so I found a spot right away. Unlike the other major waterfalls along this road...parking can be impossible at times. And this was for when I visited over the summer. There are 2 paths, or I'd say more like short strolls here at Bridal Veil Falls. The first one was the Overlook Loop Trail - a 1/2 mile round trip...but I found this walk sort of boring with not much to see. The other main hike (if you'd even call it a hike)...was to Bridal Veil Falls Trail - a 2/3 mile round trip path. Upon arriving at Bridal Veil Falls, it was picturesque...pretty much a double cascading waterfall. One waterfall trickled down into another. And I was impressed somewhat...but after seeing a few of the more well known waterfalls in the area...I wasn't thinking about this one too much afterwards. Regardless, there were a couple of opportunities for me to sit down and gaze out onto Bridal Veil Falls including stepping out onto a dirt ledge to get myself in the pictures...lol, something I always strive for...hehehe. And...there was a wooden platform to capture the moment and setting overall. I probably hung out about 15 - 20 minutes simply relaxing and watching Bridal Veil Falls. In general, I still couldn't believe how fortunate I felt to admire so many wonderful waterfalls all within one vicinity. Lol, it was like Waterfall Heaven! And now going forward...I certainly have a newfound respect and admiration for waterfalls. From here at the viewpoint I actually then connected with the Overlook Loop Trail to combine both walks. Also, what was nice about exploring around here was just being in the forest, enjoying nature and breathing in the fresh air! I may have spent 45 minutes here in this Bridal Veil Falls area before moving on. By the way, there were bathrooms located right at the front entrance before walking along the 2 paths...so certainly take advantage of the free restrooms just in case. Bridal Veil Falls was a nice and pleasant waterfall, but it in no way measured up to the better known spots along "Waterfall Way" within the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. For those who afford themselves 1 - 2 days of exploring around...it won't hurt to stop by here and grab a different perspective. Best of all, who wouldn't want to check visiting every waterfall here at The Gorge off their to-do list! read more

Beautiful, underrated falls! This is quite different from multnomah and Latourell so I highly recommend, since the other two falls are so close by, to do all 3 in the same trip! Of the 3, this one does involve a bit of walking. If you have bad knees, be mindful of the short hike to and from the waterfall. Though the trail is paved and well marked, it is quite steep, wet and a little uneven. Be sure to bring good shoes with thick soles as the rocks make the surface a little bit uncomfortable to walk on with Vans (learn from my mistake). Take your time as it can get slippery. But all of this is so worth it!!! I don't know if we just came at a good time or what but it was not busy at all. However, the platform overlooking the falls is somewhat small so I imagine during a busy day it would be quite annoying to have to wait your turn to get a nice shot of the falls. Side note and COVID update: bathrooms ARE open here! read more

This was actually my favorite of the falls on the scenic route. I know multnomah is all the rage but this was the one i enjoyed the most. There is a paved trail that heads over to the falls and its not a long walk, maybe around 1/2 mile but the path goes downhill and is fairly steep. There is a bench you can stop and pause at along the way if you need to. You get down to the bottom and then need to go up to get the spot where you can get the best views of the falls. There is only a small viewing deck so expect to have to wait a bit for your turn. Bathrooms were open at this falls. They were not at many of the falls. read more

So named because the rushing white waters flow effortlessly like a bride's veil, this fall is worth the trek on a gravel-muddy path that winds up, down and around. There are interesting greenery all along the path. While my friend stopped to peek under the foliage to see if mushrooms sprouted, I hung pack to catch my breath and stare at sparkling water droplets dripping off the abundant moss. We could already hear the thunderous roar of the falls and seeing it up close was almost daunting. To get to the wooden deck lookout was a muddy slippery clamber and then waiting as others took photos and selfies. After seeing our fill, the walk back was less hurried though we were quite in need of a bathroom after listening to all that water flowing. Thankfully there was a bathroom at the start of the trail. Also, there's a scrub brush for your shoes as well to keep the environment safe. Nice touch! Parking was kind of tight but we had rented a compact car and squeezed into a small space. I don't know if going early would have made a difference or the weather seeing as it rained pretty much the whole time! read more

Located just off the Columbia river rages the Bridal Veil falls with a short .3 mile hike slightly steep. I didn't make it to the overlook as it was pouring out making visibility slim. You can still see all the beauty that was found at a 120 ft waterfall. This is just another waterfall on a road of outdoors beauty. Although you can stop and take a picture of the waterfall from the road get out and go explore. Let the hairs of your pups neck sit up as they enjoy all the smells and gallivant around on hike. read more

Super short easy hike! I hiked in my little heel booties and was able to do it. So you can too and the kids! The falls really looks like a Bridal Veil. It's pretty neat. If you want you can hike on the big boulder but since it's so close to the water it's very slippery so be careful. This is a nice short not so touristy hike. I decided to do a weekend roadtrip from Seattle to Portland and was looking for something to do in the area before shopping. It's a beautiful area, especially in the Fall. I was happy to find this nice trail with waterfall and scenic views. It was one of my first times getting up the courage to hike alone and it wasn't bad. Plenty of people around. Parking lot was about 3/4 full. I did both loops, with stops along the way, and it took about 40 minutes. read more

Shady, cool, and suspense builds up as you navigate upwards. NOTE: It's going to be somewhat slippery/muddy, so definitely wear closed-toe shoes! Okay, I'll admit it... I'm addicted to waterfalls! Especially big, flourishing ones. Bridal Veil Falls is nothing short of amazing, and it without a doubt stays true to its' name. It resembles a beautiful wedding veil and is truly a sight for sore eyes! When I visited Portland last month, I had high hopes of visiting Multnomah Falls. Unfortunately, that dream was short lived for me as it was still closed down to the public due to the horrific fires. Bridal Veil Falls wasn't on my radar initially, but I decided to go since I couldn't visit Multnomah. I'm so glad that I decided to go because it's one of the most beautiful waterfalls that I have ever seen! Bridal Veil Falls is located along the East Historic Columbia River Highway just past the Vista House. The drive alone is truly a beauty! You see gorgeous views of the Columbia River as well as another stunning waterfall by the name of Latourell Falls. Parking is easy and ample, and the trail to the falls begins right from the parking lot. There are two trails, both of which are less than a mile and extremely easy to maneuver. The overlook trail loop is only a half a mile roundtrip and it takes you down toward the Columbia River. I didn't take this trail because I was short on time, but you can also see bits of the river from the Bridal Veil Falls Trail. The Bridal Veil Falls trail is about 2/3's of a mile roundtrip. It will take you to a small viewpoint located right in front of the falls! The trail is flat and completely paved with the exception of a few short staircases. From the parking lot, you'll descend down the trail until it takes you to a small bridge and a few stairs. The bridge crosses over the stream from the falls and will lead you to the most stunning view of the falls! Even in December, the falls were full bodied and gorgeous! You can actually hear the waterfall near the start of the trail! It's just a stunning view with a unique wedding veil shape that will make you fall in love with it instantly! Yes, I would marry this waterfall! I mean, it IS already dressed up and ready to go (wink wink). If you're a lover of waterfalls, I would totally recommend it! There are restrooms on site and a few benches where you can relax and have a nice picnic. The hike it super easy! It would be great for kids and even for a stroller walk. Make your way down and enjoy the view! Don't forget to check out the Vista house and Latourell Falls on your way over! The beauty of Oregon runs so rampant and Bridal Veil Falls is a true testament to that. read more

Family Friendly | Beautiful I absolutely love finding some family friendly things to do outside, and this is one of them! I can imagine this place is way crowded during the summer months, but when we went, it was moderately trafficked on a semi-cloudy day. Designated parking lot right across from a B&B. Bathrooms at the trail entrance. There's a loop trail with vista views -- a must. There's also the main trail that's a moderate, quick hike to the falls. Wear good shoes. Downhill going to the falls, but you'll do some work on the way back. It's beautiful at the bridge. After the bridge, you'll go up some stairs and have a couple of photo op spots before hitting the viewing platform. There was a photographer doing a shoot of a model on the big rock down below. It kind of made me really disappointed to see people go off trail because you can also see a visible trail to the right of the falls. People will do anything to get that photo, that selfie for the gram. Beautiful during the fall season! This waterfall is near Sheppard's Dell and Latourell. read more

This was a fairly easy hike. It would take about 20-25 minutes from the parking lot to the waterfall. The majority of the hike is shady, the only precaution you need to take it gets wet as you get closer, so just make sure you watch your step! The Columbia River Gorge has more waterfalls than Yosemite Valley. And these are major waterfalls, taller than 100 feet. It even has a Bridal Veil Falls. There's not much similarity between the Oregon and California versions. The most important difference: This one is a two-step drop, with probably 60% of the falls on the bottom. I don't know how that makes this waterfall like a bride's veil. That's not a complaint, though. And if you start on "this is better than that", you lose all the enjoyment. This Bridal Veil Falls is a real winner. A downhill paved hike of 1/3 mile brings you a roarer surrounded by Central Oregon's famous greenery. To top it off, there are several craggy rocks at the falls' base where kids can climb to their hearts' content. We went on a Tuesday morning, not really rush hour on the Historic Highway. Yet the trail and viewpoint were full of people. Which shows how popular these falls are. Deservedly so. Going back up is a little steep. Build that cardio. Bridal Veil Falls, another great stop in the gorgeous Gorge. read more

4 1/2 stars. Level of difficulty: Easy- this "hike" is more of a short, 10-15 minute walk. Bridal Veil Falls is a lovely, two-tiered waterfall that requires only a small amount of walking. The "hike" to the falls itself is beautiful and serene as you pass through a ton of greenery. You even pass by a beautiful stream that flows under a small bridge which you'll cross while making your way up to the falls. Tip: Climb the giant rock at the bottom of the waterfall for some cool photos!! read more

If you're looking for a really easy hike with a great payoff, this is it. I would call it more of a walk. You won't need to spend more than an hour here, and you have 2 options. The Bridal Veil Falls trail is 2/3 of a mile round trip and takes you to the nice scenic viewpoint close to the falls. It is shaded most of the way. The Overlook Loop Trail is 1/2 a mile round trip. It is flat for the most part and you don't see the falls but have a great view of the body of water on the other side of the highway. This trail was nice because they have informative historical markers throughout. I suggest doing both trails. read more
