Beautiful Park with miles of trails. You can hike, swim, fish, canoe/kayak, bbq, play on the playground, or learn some history. This is definitely one of my favorite city hikes around the gorge. Come Early bring lunch and enjoy the ample views. Great Park

Simple hike/walk to creek with great view. We only walked about 20 minutes to get to the creek. Simple wide trail to follow with slight inclines. Dense green foliage was a pleasure to admire. There are many side trails were fun if you want to break off the main trail.

I love this trail. It's always been one of my favorite little hideaways in a town that most have never heard of. The trails get muddy and hard to walk at times, so be aware of the weather before deciding to go for a walk.

Such a nice little trail in Camas. This place has a few waterfalls and great views. Great place to go just to explore and see some of Washington's beautiful scenery. Very easy trail to do

Our family frequents these trails. This is an easy hike around Round Lake, near Camas. I love this 1.5 mile walk ! It is so beautiful, filled with lush trees. And the feeling that you are deep deep into the woods without needing your whole camping pack. I am amazed that round lake, and the surrounding trails are all so beautiful and the fact that are very few people around! I though that for sure we would run into a ton of people, but that wasn't the case. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are on a leash and there are poop bags at a few stations around the park as well. The first time we came here was for a photoshoot, and all the photos turned out breathtaking. When we need to get out of the house with the dogs or if we want a place to stroll, this is one of our top spots!

Took the Lacamas Park trail to Woodburn Falls and Potholes Falls. An additional Lower Falls are at location but we did not have time and hope to return again.Bathrooms were closed but a porta potty was at beginning of park. We took our little dog and he did good. I did see some dogs without leashes. That made it difficult to maintain my dog when approached from behind without notice. Some incline but easy. Wear hiking shoes if you want to see the falls better and map is a little confusing. Thanks to passing walkers we were helped. When you take the trail to Woodburn Falls...keep to the right at the crossing paths. The other way you may get lost or extra unnecessary trail hike. Also be courteous while entering the top of dam you will cross at beginning of trail. Some hikers are impatient at the dam entrance. People with dogs or small kids might be a little tight squeeze if they don't wait.

Great place to hike and finish off at the lake for the afternoon! The hike is very easy and there were a lot of families with small children out there. The lake was pretty amazing and not to crowded. We floated on tubes and BBQ'd. Great place to relax.

Nice little trail with a good amount of beautiful hardwoods to enjoy along the way. Some people swim in the lake but I'm not so sure that I would recommend it. The water has a funny smell to it at some points of the trail. Overall, I'm thankful this trail is so close to home and we have it as an option for a walk. The paths are well maintained which is a plus. If you have a dog, pick up the dog's poop please- and don't leave the poop bag on the trail. If you smoke, don't be a moron- pick up your cigarette butts please.

Stoped by for a quick run and lemme just tell you , it was amazing!! I'm glad theirs a trail like this close by and that fact it's just gorgeous/breathe taking literally makes me happy places like these exist , literally stopped my jog several times to just stop and take a look around

This is a great trail. Good for hikers and mountain bikers. They have some really wide, accommodating trails and some that are smaller, probably intended for hikers only. The river is pretty awesome when it's at full-roar.

If the signs and maps were in tact and up right we may have finished our initial trek. Turned back because we weren't sure where to go from the last stop! Beautiful for a local hike! Depending on where you are on the trail, it is easy to moderate especially for anything on wheels!

Nice trails and waterfalls. A lot of space to explore. But more garbage than I've ever seen on a hiking trail in the PNW sadly.

Ask the Community - Lacamas Creek Trail

Are dogs allowed?

Of course!! This is a great trail to bring your dogs. I'd say from personal experience, though, as long as you clean up after them. It's always so offensive to me, when a dog owner just leaves a pile of their dogs poop, right there on the trail.

We did the round lake loop trail that is about 1.5 miles round trip. It is relatively flat with a few inclines and declines. We saw families using strollers on parts of the trail. The trail is shaded for almost the entire route. The trail is well maintained and clean. The trails are clearly marked and the signs are easy to see. There's bathrooms and a playground for kids. We saw a lot of people using kayaks in the lake. There's also picnic tables and benches to use. This is a great option for any age and ability. It's beautiful and green. I highly recommend Lacamas Lake for those who want to enjoy the greenery and beauty of Washington.

This park is very lush with picnic tables and grills spread out for privacy. The view of the lake is gorgeous! There are over 6 miles of trails, some of which intertwine. If you're new to these trails, a map is a good idea; one could easily get lost if not familiar as the trails aren't all marked. I just took a picture of the trail map by the parking area to have as reference in case I needed it. The trails are lush and mainly dirt and rocks. If you walk down to lower falls the trail can be a little more treacherous. Some of the hills are steep and some rocks loose. Make sure you wear the proper footwear. There are a few falls to see, many creeks, a dam and a couple lakes (Lacamas and Round). Overall a wonderful place to get outside for fresh air and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.

There are stairs from the lot, giving a complete view of the falls, requires going up 60 steps with 8 intermediate landings. My 85 year old mother in law was able to do with help and frequent stops. One can walk down a path (about a 3 minute walk) to get to the base of the waterfall, which is what I did by myself. The sound (and smell) of the water was so nice: could have stayed here much longer but we had other waterfalls to see. There are two paths from the lot, one through stairs to an observation deck, and another one down the trail to the bottom of the fall. The trail is short 2 minutes walk on even path. Dress properly for wet and misty weather, and have proper shoes. The prime location is corner spot right in front of the fall. The pathway continues thru an old bridge. You can actually walk behind the waterfall following the path, the unique aspect of the waterfall. When we arrived at the fall, parking lot was full, so we parked on the side of the road. The trail was little wet, so we walked carefully to the prime spot. The fall looked stunning. The water flow was much stronger than other falls. Some visitors were brave to walk all the way to the back of the fall. This was my favorite fall among all of them in the area.

Everytime I'm in Portland in the summertime, I come here to go swimming…read more I was super lucky, I was actually staying way over in the NW part of town and found out that the #77 crosstown busswhich was literally a block away from me would bring me straight here. So I gathered all my stuff for a day at the river, towels, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, hopped on the bus and spent a fantastic day here. Go early because there really isn' a lot of shade by the river and all the best spots get taken up early. There's also the woods to walk through filled with wild blackberry bushes everywhere. I guess my Canadianness comes out because I went straight into the water and swam about like it was nothing while everyone else was freaking out over how cold the water is and stayed close to the sandy shore. It's not. Especially on a scotching hot day, it really isn't a big deal. Also I have no idea how there can be drowning in a river which you can literally walk across, and never gets very deep. The current isn't all that strong if you go further away from the bridge, in fact the water is downright meandering at that point. If you have an umbrella, some reading material, lots of water, snacks, and you don't easily burn or get sunstroke, you can easily pass an entire, serene day here.

Great trails leading to the Sandy River. A nice park to stroll through on a day trip to Troutdale.read more
