There are total of 50 boots throughout Wimberely, which can be pretty handful to find, but 10 in a center should take you an hour if on foot with posing for photos. My highlights included sampling my first ever Pork Bomb. It pays to know everybody in the cook off sampling everything including salsa, brisket, chicken, chili, and the above mentioned pork log wrapped in bacon and then smothered in Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. Originally, The Yard functioned as an industrial warehouse and rail-adjacent facility associated with the historic Missouri Pacific rail yard. During the mid‑2010s, the site underwent redevelopment as an 11-acre adaptive reuse project, resulting in the transformation of warehouses into studios, breweries, wineries, fabrication shops, and creative offices. This conversion was largely completed by 2016-2017. In contrast to city-commissioned public art, The Yard's murals emerged organically through encouragement from property owners, who invited artists and tenants to decorate exterior walls. The purpose of these murals was to activate communal areas, direct pedestrian movement, and aesthetically mitigate the industrial character of the site. There is no permanent collection...the murals frequently change and are replaced as artists shift in and out. This dynamic model reflects Austin's overarching street-art ethos, where murals are considered transient, adaptable, and contextually responsive, rather than maintained as static monuments.

When we lived in Pittsburgh and would visit Austin twice a year we'd always come to New Braunfels for our favorite places like the town square, Krause's, Naeglin's, antique shops, etc. Never realized there was a check-in for it until today. Anyway, this quaint German town founded in 1845 is still chock full of history. They've modernized the town to incorporate the old with the new and it works. So many great shops and restaurants, not to mention Gruene Hall and more. Tubing down the Comal or Guadalupe river is a blast in the summertime. Incredible architecture dating back to the incorporation of the town. Another great thing about NB is the annual German festival, Wurstfest. One of my favorite things to attend! Lots of fun outdoor activities, great parks and great people!

The city is also known for Schlitterbahn Waterpark & Resort, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Texas. If you were a high school senior in a nearby city or town, you likely had your senior trip at Schlitterbahn (I went numerous times as kid.) This large waterpark sits along the Comal River and features water slides, tube rides, pools, and resort accommodations. Another water attraction in New Braunfels is water activities along the Guadalupe River - tubing, rafting, kayaking, and fishing. I have fond memories tubbing down the Guadulupe River with high school friends...literally for hours...so much fun! Those were the days. One of the most important parts of New Braunfels is its strong German heritage. The city was founded in 1845 by Prince Carl of Solms‑Braunfels. New Braunfels celebrates its roots through architecture, food, music, and festivals. One of the City's major social activities is Wurstfest, a 10‑day celebration of German culture, bringing together music, food, and tradition. German influence can also be seen in the historic Gruene district, where preserved buildings, local shops, and Gruene Hall...the oldest operating dance hall in Texas. New Braunfels is welcomed getaway that is authentic, fun and enjoyable.

They are open 6 days a week to take all of your brush off your hands. Then they send all of it through their grinder. If they did a double grind instead of single, they would be worthy of a 5 star This is how it works, and it's really simple. Drive in through the gate and follow the signs to "Mulch". Back your trailer up to the designated area and wait for the front end loader to come. He usually shows up in less than 5 minutes and loads your trailer in a few minutes. Then move to the tie-down area and cover your load. So why not 5 stars. 1. No double grind leaves some large chunks. 2. Even with hundreds of yards of mulch, they sometimes run out. 3. They close at lunch on Saturday, which can make it tough on those of us that have to work during the week.

Gorgeous weather, fabulous food, a great crowd from all over and the perfect backdrop makes for a perfect sunday funday. Food: I dove in. Starting with what was one of my favorites, Swifts Attics deconstructed taco. It was spicy and savory and delicious. Then I proceeded to piggy my way through cubanos and ribs and pulled pork and pork belly and chili cheese ramen (you read that right!) and deviled ham sammies and smores and so much more. Thank god I wore a stretchy dress. Drinks: Every kind of wine -- Texas and beyond -- graced my lips this day. Usually more than once. The folks serving bubbles, crisp whites, therich reds, sake, cider, craft beer (hops n grain, jester king, etc) were generous and informed. Honest Tea helped me out mid rampage when I needed something more than a sample of wine to wash down the goodness. Setting: Ceres Park. I've been here once but I didn't know how perfect it could be. It's just beautiful with a huge barn like structure set up to host the hundreds of folks. Dangling lights, strings of pretty paper ruffling in the breeze and the band. Oh the band! Not to loud, perfect for dancing, funny and fun. The Austin Food and Wine Alliance put on one hell of an event. Well worth your price and get them early next year y'all. And bring a DD so you can get realllllll friendly with the wineries.
