Review of WAISMANN METHOD® Opioid Treatment & Rapid Detox…read more RH Richard Hellstrom 1 review US A freedom I never thought possible So it's been one year since my time at Domus. In that year, I've dealt with sorrow, trauma and stress that would have normally sent me into a downward spiral of unprecedented opioid use. That hasn't been the case. My desire to use opiates, or, my emotional "Off button" is non existent. I've maintained a level of freedom from an addiction that left me for dead and killed so many that I knew, it's nothing short of miraculous. Detox is rough, in a jail cell going cold turkey or well cared for in the ICU. Best tip I have before going, Titrate how much you're using (as best as you can, be realistic but don't prematurely go into withdrawals) so the procedure isn't so intense physically. Thankfully, after you've recovered from anesthesia and are cleared to leave the ICU, you go to an amazing place. Wonderful staff: Chef's who put Gordon Ramsay to shame, therapy sessions from an amazing Psychologist, medical staff who put up with so much and still provide a level of patient centered care that rivals any facility I've been in, a housekeeping staff who's always smiling when working and the rest of the staff, who hold many titles, do many jobs and deserve much praise for their positive attitudes and hard work. If you're reading this and thinking "man, that's a lot of money!" You're not alone. I did pay cash, and afterwards did a breakdown of services provided and the cost. It's actually reasonable when taking into consideration the hospital stay, meds and your stay at Domus. Plus, can you put a value on being free from opiates? I can't. Not to mention I would have wasted more than that on drugs in one year, possibly died and still been in full blown addiction. My advice? Prepare yourself or your loved one for returning home. Rest is important, this isn't a magic wand that takes away the length of rest needed to be healthy. Not interacting with the people who you were using with is crucial. Say your goodbyes before you leave and don't feel tempted to check on those people now that you feel better. It's not worth being in a risky situation. Aftercare: I have 2 practitioners I see for therapy, aftercare looks different for everyone but it's so important to have a safety net of some kind post treatment. I'll be very blunt about this too: This is a huge waste of money, time and your life if you don't want it. And mean WANT IT. Not "I'm tired of disappointing everyone" not "My parents/significant other are really pushing me to do this" and definitely not "This is some magical cure all that will stop my addiction in it's tracks." Only you know when you're done, and when you are, to me, this is the final piece to the start of a new chapter in your life. I'm so glad I was done. 20+ years of using with 15 of them being solid addiction just wasn't fun anymore. Being 35 at the time, I realized my life wasn't what it could be and certainly isn't what anyone should strive for. So it was time for a change. I found the Waismann method online while looking for diagrams of new injection sites, I was at a point of pure desperation. "Opiates.com? They should have some tips on how I can continue to get high" I thought. How wrong I was and how happy I was to be wrong. I shed a tear to find out that something like this existed, I had no clue. And finally, wow. I'm still here. Still free of the desire to use or associate with those in active addiction. My heart still breaks when I see others struggling, and if I could, I would send everyone to get the help they need at Domus. I hope this can help others weighing the choice of seeking this treatment facility or another, to make the choice that's right for them. I've been to multiple residential inpatient programs, 2 months, 6 months, 13 months, none of them did anything positive for me. So thank you again to everyone involved with the Waismann method (I was at the facility in California) for what you're doing. It's working. Look forward to another yearly update, positive or negative, I'll leave my feedback

There wasn't even a nurse to take care of me after I woke up in massive pain. It was really bad. I really felt alone and sicker than normal to be honest. There just is no quick fix to withdrawal. And how could there be??

As a person in recovery, I have been in the care of a lot of doctors. Being a doctor is a lot of work, but being a doctor for an addict requires an extra level of understanding. It takes patience and quite a bit of extra time to figure out a patient's more sensitive needs and often long and detailed drug history. I have been seeing Dr. Peterson since I moved to LA in the spring of last year, so for over a year now. I notice a stark difference between his methods of practice and addictions specialists I have seen in the past. Dr. Peterson has really taken the time to get to know my personal history with medications I have been prescribed in the past and double and triple check my subjective experiences with these medications while in addition to my medical record. Often for addicts, medication is an emotional subject; Dr. Peterson's therapeutic communication is superior to all other doctors I have seen since shifting from regular family physicians to addiction specialists and I have always felt comfortable and never embarrassed in his care. Dr. Peterson has gone above and beyond to get to know me as a patient and a person. He knows addiction treatment is more dynamic process than writing patient prescriptions. He understands addiction as an incurable disease that requires lifelong treatment and tackles this truth head-on with a contagiously positive and motivating attitude. It is a fact that Dr. Peterson has improved my quality of life not only through his care as a medical provider but also as a role model. Another point I would like to note is that he remains conscious of a patient's financial situation, another example of his ethical excellence.

I am a 34 year old, sexually active gay man who gets regular STD screenings and work up every 90 days for ongoing medication called Prep (pre-exposure prophylaxis) which prevents the spread and transmission of HIV. My insurance just switched so my 90 days was coming up and I needed to refill my prescription. Additionally, I was having some minor symptoms that coincided with a recent sexual experience related to my backside. When I requested specific STD testing for these symptoms, just in case, Dr. Ramin seemed confused as to why I would have sexual symptoms in my backside. I had to explain that I engage in anal sex, which felt embarrassing and obvious. He then dismissed my concerns without offering another explanation and launches into a lecture on promiscuity, citing prep as an excuse for unsafe behavior. He told me a tangential story about a woman getting pregnant from a one night stand which felt odd and out of nowhere, and used the phrase "just because you have a parachute doesn't mean you should jump out of a plane" and continued to reference my behavior as overly promiscuous. Finally, and most egregiously, he did not give me a rectal swab which is standard practice in every prep panel I've ever taken (been getting tested every 3 months for 6 years - blood sample, urine sample, throat and rectal swabs are all standard). I left with continued symptoms and had to go to the free clinic to get a rectal swab, still uncertain if I had an STD or another explanation. This whole experience made me feel shamed, discriminated against, and was entirely unhelpful for very basic care. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Dr. Ramin.

So yea these days I'm seven years off of all that, working a normal job, doing just fine... and that is a miracle. Today I'm blessed to be able to put my 100% into everything I do, and I attribute much of my recovery to this man and his associate Dr Priya Chaudri. D. I was in the PHP program (in person 5 days a week, 3 group sessions per day, and 1-2 individual…read moresessions each week) looking for help with severe depression, anxiety and partially losing my hearing suddenly in my late 20s. This is my experience and why I STRONGLY urge people to proceed with caution if contemplating looking to Cast Centers for help during a vulnerable time in your life: THE GOOD The one positive thing about Cast was the ability to connect with other humans who were experiencing their own struggles and trying to heal collectively in a group setting. I was able to connect to people who understood me in a time when I needed it; that is the only positive I have to give this place, and the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. THE BAD Throughout the day, you will listen to a guided meditation on YouTube or Pandora, do a worksheet that was clearly printed from a psychology website, watch a Ted Talk/inspirational video, and go around the circle and answer how it made you feel. While there was a therapist present, I rarely felt that professional input was provided to a lot of what people were saying they needed help with. I personally learned more from the other people in group with me than the therapists involved. This place isn't cheap-and most of the time it felt like when you had a substitute teacher wheel the TV into class. THE UGLY Mental health providers aren't perfect and don't know all the answers; however, showing effort and that they care about you as a person is a critical part of therapy that I DID NOT receive during my time at Cast. From day 1 I said I needed help processing a condition I have that caused me to partially lose my hearing. I wasn't feeling supported after being in the program for 3 weeks and asked BOTH of the therapists assigned to me if they had done any research on my condition, Googled hearing loss, or even watched a movie about deaf people so maybe they could help me and both of their responses: no. Secondly- I experienced a hearing emergency WHILE under care at Cast and updated them about what was going on. In order to preserve hearing, I requested that we do not watch or listen to anything in group sessions while on strict orders from my doctor to remain in quiet locations for 1 week. The very next day- they played a 40 minute Ted Talk video, which made my issue worse and need to leave for the day (which they reported as me not completing the session that day). They showed zero care to a very simple disability accommodation, and it was made clear they are not prepared to assist people with disabilities. The staff at Cast seems woefully under qualified to handle those who may be in a crisis period in life, especially those with unique circumstances. Also- beware about Dr. Mylett, something is very off putting with her (other people I met in the program expressed both of these things as well, which is why I included it). While this is my experience, it shows the lack of central characteristics that are needed to help people in their tough times in life. My personal advice is to continue your search elsewhere, but to each their own. Be blessed!
