Today, I took my 11 year old daughter to Dr. Deterville (she's a patient of Dr. Furutan) for ongoing stomach pains. I was able to get a same day appointment which was great! The staff was very friendly both on the phone and when we checked in/out. Dr. Deterville spent an extensive amount of time with us; he made my daughter feel very comfortable as she is scared of going to the doctors office and educated us on the diagnosis. I had several questions and he was very thorough with his responses. As a worried mama, I appreciated the amount of time he spent with us. Dr Deterville is great and we love him but the staff is horrible(not the nurse) I would give five stars for the doctor but 1 star for staff.(and that's being nice)They need to get new employees We are thinking of switching doctors because they are that incompetent, rude and not helpful at all. read more

De Deterville has been seeing my boys for 8 years. He is by far the most amazing attentive caring doctor. I switched about 3 times until a friend referred me to him. Every time I come in he takes his TIME! Crazy right? He actually Comes in sits down and talks to myself and my child and makes us feel very welcomed and comfortable. He's helped my son battle a few sickness without throwing prescriptions at you. I brought my Newborn in a couple months ago and he sat with me and went over everything so thoroughly. I'm not a big one on having my babies get so many immunizations and I told him that and he was too kind and understand and didn't give me any grief, told me he's perfectly fine come back when you are comfortable. He's great. & I honestly love coming in to hear about what he has to say even not medicine or doctor related. Great doctor great man!! I would give him a hundred stars if I could! read more

Couldn't ask for a better doctor! He's been so good to both my boys and in constantly dealing with my youngest who has been hospitalized a few times with numerous ER and urgent care trips as well. I'm usually able to get follow up appointments fairly quickly and he is thorough and explains things well. His nurse Linda is great as well! Always very kind! read more

We Love Dr. Deterville! We've been going to him for four years. He is so nice and understanding. He was assigned to my son when I he was born at Riverside Community and he was always so cheery and thorough at the hospital that we just kept him. He is very patient with the kids. Both our boys like him a lot. I've never had a problem with the office staff. They are always courteous and have always fitted us in whenever the boys were sick. I wouldn't leave a message on the answering service, if it doesn't ring through, just call back at a later time. They have two waiting rooms, one for healthy patients and one for sick kids. Sometimes there can be a long wait if they squeeze you in but for the most part if you have an appointment it's really not to bad. They also have walk in hours in the morning but unless your kid is seriously ill and can't wait a couple hours, I would just call and see if you could make an appointment later that day. read more

Dr Deterville is by far the best pediatrician I have ever had to deal with ! He is such understanding and kind DR who explains to the parents and child what's going on until both understand and are comfortable with what the DR is explaining . He was my pediatrician as child and I would refuse to go to any other DR because at 7 years old I thought all the other DRs were not capable of helping me ! I don't have children of my own yet but I do now take my niece and nephew to him ! Highly recommend .On the front office can't help you there never had an issue ! Hope this helps ! read more

After leaving a message on Wed and another on Thurs with no return call i finally got ahold of the front desk. The girl was rude and unconcerned that my phone calls were not returned, seemed pretty normal course of business. In addition to that i wasn't able to make an appointment for my son when it was needed so i ask myself "why do i use this dr"? And now i no longer do! read more

Dr. Deterville is my toddler's pediatrician and we are very happy with him. He seems to be pretty popular and his office is pretty busy. (I think that's really common for a good pediatrician). I like that he has a fairly laid-back manner and he was really patient with me, a first-time mom with lots of questions! I'm glad he's my child's doctor. I had to smile at the other reviewer who mentioned a rude receptionist. I have been treated rudely by one of the receptionists there. I've noticed recently, however, that there seems to be more employees working in the reception area. So either they reduced her hours or they hired someone to help her out. In either case, she hasn't been as rude to me lately! Overall though, this is a nice office and they provide good service. We have also seen Dr. Furatan when we could not get a quick appointment with Dr. Deterville. We thought he did a nice job too, but we keep Dr. Deterville because he's been so great! read more

We loved our old pediatrician so much, I was worried we wouldn't find anyone as good. We have seen Dr. Deterville twice now and I am so happy we found him! My daughter had to have a minor procedure done and he was so kind and patient. My daughter was scared and he took the time to reassure her and make her feel better. His office staff and nurse were incredibly friendly and helpful. We got in within hours of calling each time. I am so thankful to have found someone to trust my child with! read more

I have seen both doctors at this office- and they are both superb! But like other comments have mentioned- their office staff (not the nurse) are incredibly rude, demeaning and argumentative. I have been taking both my children here for years. I have even moved 30 miles away and drive back here because the doctors are amazing. But they have seriously got to do something about the office staff up front. They have been the worst I have even encountered! Probably moving doctors soon. read more

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. This is a must read review. I saw the other Pediatrician in this office Dr Furutan who personally is awesome by himself, however my son has autism & the process of getting referrals sent out through his office directly has been excruciating. I went it a month ago & was written a "prescription" for therapy for my son that should have been a referral, after realizing this prescription would not work I called them to change this to an actual referral. I have been on the phone with my insurance as well as Dr Furutan/Deterville's office almost daily & I have yet to receive the help my son needs. We switched doctors when moving out here & it has been an absolutely nightmare dealing with the front girls of his office, they all give me different information as well as false information. If your child needs any type of referrals, prescriptions or anything like that I guarantee you are going to run into issues with this office. They also were only allowed to send me to ONE speech therapy location, which is one hour there & one hour back, when they were only going to offer my son 15-20 min sessions twice a week. ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT. This speech therapy place also has the worst reviews on yelp (West Coast Spine) & they said they aren't allowed to send me anywhere else. There is a reason I have been to this doctors office 3 times in a month & am already switching. They have horrible customer service while working with parents & seem to all be on different pages when it comes to any information that has been processed. I will say Dr Furutan has personally called me before to try & clear this up, which I deeply appreciated, however he gave me FALSE INFORMATION. He told me himself that he sent out a referral for my son to receive ABA therapy & each day my insurance tells me there is no such thing on their end. Nightmare is still continuing. My two sons have been going to Dr. Deterville since birth. They are now 12 and 13. I won't take them anywhere else. And even though my 13 year old looks like a 25 year old... I will always take him there until he is an adult. read more

The Dr. Himself is an amazing Dr. If i was grading him alone i would give five stars. His staff on the other hand needs a lesson in customer service. They are rude in person and on the phone. We have been late a few times due to traffic or some other reasons. Having 2 children under the age of 2 makes things a little more challanging. When we have been late my wife has been made to wait for several hours after being 10 or 15 minutes late. They let multiple patients in that aruved 20 or 30 minutes after she has been therr while we sit and wait. We have waiting in the office and been forgotten. It was not until i step out of the room to ask what was going on thag they informes us we had been forgotten. The staff is flexible to patients being a few minutes late and they seem to be almost vindictive because we were late. So if you want to put up with being treated poorly by the staff but good by the Dr. This is your place. I would not recommend going there and we are currently seeking a new Dr for our three Children. read more

Dr. Deterville is the BEST Dr. in Riverside!! And I mean that!! He is the absolute BEST!!! My children went to him and now my grandchild does!! He is still the AMAZING incredible Doctor and still LOVES what he does! Since he is so great, he is busy, BUT, we have never waited any longer than 15 minutes and the walk in hours are incredible!! One time we had to see Dr. Furatan and we will NEVER do that again. He didn't listen to what my daughter was saying and just assumed she was there to get antibiotics..WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE.. and he just kept saying things against Dr. Deterville and wouldn't listen to what we were saying. That was so unprofessional and showed no class at all!! If Dr. Deterville retires, we will find another office-- we will never use the other Doctor in this practice. BUT -- WE LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Deterville. He LISTENS to what the mother is saying and is comforting and amazing. 33 years ago, my son fractured his skull and that is how I met him and he has the most incredible bed side manner and in such a serious injury to an 18 month old, he was comforting, knew what to do immediately and worked closely with the neurologists, surgeons and myself. I would have NEVER gotten through that time without him. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the most wonderful Pediatrician.. Dr. Deterville!! read more
