I have used Prentice's services several times. When he is finished my cars always look almost new. In one situation I had a car that was stolen and came back thoroughly trashed. There was some type of thick tar compound on the body. A body shop wanted to grind it. Prentice figured a way to get it off with heat and then restored the car to near perfect. My Vette just got vandalized - some one spared glue all over the passenger side. To rub your hand on t sand paper. Although he was busy, Prentice took my car and got everything off. Had a stubborn paint scuff/transfer problem on my front bumper. Another detailer had tried and failed to fix it up. Thought I was going to have to take it to a body shop. Prentice has lots of experience and is very enthusiastic about his business so I asked him if he thought he could fix it. He said he'd try but he also said if it still needed to be painted, he could do that too. Prentice fixed our bumper dent like new and detailed our 05 armada inside and out. It looks better than the day we bought it. He's a true professional and will make your vehicle look spectacular. Quick update as it's been a few years. Just had Prentice do another detail. First, he was able to remove scratches from my fiance's brand new Ford Mustang (the dealer was supposed to remove them on 4 separate occasions- yes, we took the car in 4 times and they failed to do it each time). I had a can of spray paint leak and spray all over the side of my white truck. I tried to remove the spots with acetone but was not comfortable that I would not remove the paint down to the primer. First, everyone knows how much a paint job cost and getting rid of those horrendous swirliess is a desire for every car enthuiest. Prentice at Detail in Progress is your go to man for this job as he has been in the industry for tens of years. When I met the guy, he instantly gave off the most honest and experienced vibe that made me use his service. My 2013 G37 sedan had swirls all over the black paint and even dents where paint were not there at all. Prentice explained all the options I had and I scheduled a date for the week after. I couldn't hide my smile after seeing it yesterday after the job was done. Everything shined like a new car. He told me that the detail would restore 90% or more of the cars factory look and it really showed. Prentice even made many of my deep scratches barely visible as well explaining that any more would take off too much of the original paint. We have a 2003 Ford Escape that we let our teenage son drive. Unfortunately he hit a fence as he was backing out of a parking space resulting in a significant dent to the left front fender and a broken bumper. I asked Prentice if this was something he could could fix. He stopped by to look at the damage and gave us a quote. It was much less than a body shop would charge. He ordered the parts and when they came in he came by to pick up our car. The next day he dropped it off and the front end looked new again. He was able to fix the dent and match the paint perfectly. We called Prentice because he is one of the few detailers around who does great vinyl repairs too. First, the detailing. Prentice's pricing is very much in line with other good detailers in San Diego. He likes to have your vehicle for the whole day, and came to our house to collect our 10 year old silver Lexus SC430 the night before, which was very convenient for us. When he returned the car the following afternoon, I was stunned. It looks brand new. Previously there was a nasty stain on the trunk mat - probably a fruit juice leak. It has completely gone now. The mats inside the car are very light tan in color, and Prentice noted that there are one or two marks that he couldn't remove. Well, I can't find them - it is impeccable! He even touched up an ugly 1/2" scraped bare patch on the rear bumper for no extra charge. The finish on the exterior of the car is gorgeous. We paid a minimal extra fee to upgrade to a Teflon coating and it is really worth the cost. Tree sap and bee poop just can't stick any more - they easily wipe off. Second, the vinyl repair. This was in an older car. The panels in the door had shifted over the years, leaving a one inch slit in the vinyl. Other repairers wanted us to have the door completely dismantled, with an estimated cost of several hundred dollars. In a 16 year old car, this just wasn't worth it. Prentice was able to repair it at his shop with a great color match and a very nice result for only $75. The repair is unnoticeable, unless you know exactly where to look. In summary, I highly recommend Prentice. He is a true professional who does outstanding work for a reasonable price. read more

I detail my own cars but unfortunately I developed some clear coat problems on the hood of my black BMW. I took it to a auto body shop and they said it could not be removed and would have to be repainted. I called Detail in Progress to see if they could look at the problem area.
