Large thrift shop with a ton of home goods, holiday decor, party supplies, gift bags, cards, and more! This store was very nicely organized. Everything was clean and in good condition. They also have a large section of clothes organized by color only, not size which makes shopping much easier. There's a shoe section as well as a small men's and children's section as well. I was taken aback at the amount of Christmas decor as well as party decorations there were available. You can decorate many children's birthday parties with the materials here! I didn't find much in the clothing section that caught my eye but if I were ever in need of a gift bag or card, I'd stop here to stock up! read more

Worlds most expensive thrift store. The items are mediocre and the prices are insane. Probably 3X the price of the Goidwill

Why did I go into Destiny thrift store today around 1:30pm picked these two items up.Went to register to pay and asked the lady why they have two different prices when they are both the same exact items.She said well they both should be $3.00 dollars.I said so you expect me to pay 3.00 for each one when the ticket clearly shows $2.00 and $3.00.So she says I will just give it to you for the price I am not gonna argue with you.Well you have to give it to customers for the price it shows not charge me More.Read the ticket marked wrong or not. Thrift stores tend to forget these are things being donated given to them for free in turn they make a Profit by charging people and the prices are not all that cheap Either.The items are donated free,free,free...Your already making money for even charging anyone anything.Sometimes I get good items but on something's pricing is Crazy...I know you have to make money to be in business but it's donated again free items that is then being sold at sometimes Higher prices than it should be.I happened to see Christmas balls in containers for 20 bucks I could go to Walmart and get them cheaper than that...Thrift stores are not suppose To be high priced.Sorry the pricing was not My error no one was arguing you were getting mad cause my point was clear..what's on the ticket that's what I pay not something different. read more

Destiny Thrift - Thrift Stores Near Me - Brick, New Jersey

I'm really not so sure about this place, in all honesty - and it's very much a one-and-done visit for me. "Destiny" Thrift is, as expected, a religious affiliate organization as part of "New Beginnings / Destiny CDC", a stripmall church located next door. A large amount of the items in the store tend to reflect this, with a huge emphasis on Christmas tableware / figures, etc. The store is kept clean, there's a large selection of (mostly women's) clothing, and your usual thrift store assortment of old mugs, plates, and fine china sets that were donated. The downsides? IMO the prices are too high for a thrift store - I came in looking for a new set of plates for home, and having found one that I liked here, I started adding up the cost. The end result was for the entire set of USED plates, it was within $10 of just buying the suckers NEW, online. I get inflation is a real kick in the teeth right now, but these things are donated, right? A stack of old walmart-grade stoneware that costs $50 new shouldn't retail for $35-40 in a thrift shop, c'mon.. In addition to that, the owners here for whatever reason felt the need to hang up a massive 45 / MAGA flag in the back of the store, because hey - that really makes the place feel more inviting, right? There's quite a lot of wonderful thrift shops in town, and in Point Pleasant - just a stone's throw away. Between the steep prices and the unwanted political posturing, I think there's better choices in the area for finding good deals & neat trinkets. read more

they have lovely stuff but their prices are sometimes priced more than retail someone who is pricing their inventory doesn't know what they're doing looks on Amazon prime or eBay which is so ridiculous Better off going to another thrift shop or a flea market much better prices elsewhere read more

Prices are a little high but that is all the thrift stores these days. I am sure rent /utilities/staff is costing more money. when the season is changing I can still find things on sale for a good price. I still like to visit here from time to time but its not worth going out of your way to get here since the selection is a little limited and the style of clothing is more on the older side read more

We haven't shopped there, but stopped by yesterday for the 2nd time to drop donations. We were told they were not taking any linens at the time, but normally do. Staff was not very pleasant at all and told us that you can't phone first to check what they will take because they have no telephone in the store. Considering we had taken the time to load four croscill comforters sets with matching drapes, accessories, we were not happy campers. Will not return. read more

I used to be a regular here a couple years ago. I moved and then didn't go for a while but always had my husband drop off large amounts of donations whenever we had a load. I was all about donating it to a church. However, after today I will no longer be donating there ever again. I went in with a friend of mine to look around and was appalled by the prices. I mean truly taken back. I can only see it as taking advantage of people. It never used to be like that. Now, it's more over priced than the Good will... which I never thought I'd see. For (a small) example - for some beat up Keds sneakers they wanted 16$. Brand new and on sale you could get them for 1$ less. Absolutely insanity and very disappointing. Wonderful ppl & beautiful items. I've purchased quality items there at amazing prices. They're the perfect place to go for furniture, crystal, fine china, dishes, picture frames, serving items, clothing & everything else. If you're on Brick Blvd - stop in. If u don't see what you're looking for - come back another time. The proceeds go to helping our neighbors w a Food Pantry during these tough times. Or, just donate money for the Food Pantry. Not a bad place to look for a buy. The place is a good size. Furniture side & various household items and decorations.

Some genius in this store actually thinks it's a good idea to mark the price on everything with an indelible Sharpie, including vintage paper and leather. I recently saw an old Bible there with the price written in silver sharpie on the leather cover, thus ruining it. They do the same thing with other books that would otherwise be collectible, or would be in new enough condition to be used as gifts. Who's going to give a gift of a nice book with a big price marked on it with black Sharpie? This is just sheer and heartless vandalism. They don't even have the business sense, or simply don't care enough, to consider that they could make a lot more money on these items if they didn't ruin them. I know they're volunteers, and you get what you pay for. read more

I've been shopping at this store for a few months now and I made a visit there today to add a little more to my collection of vintage video tapes. I have shopped in this store numerous times, most of the time spending less than $10 and being able to pay with a credit card without an issue. When I went there today I attempted to pay for a pile of video tapes that came to a total of $2. I attempted to hand over my credit card to the cashier whose personal conversation with two customers I appeared to have interrupted, so she already greeted me with a bit of an attitude. When she told me what my total would be without even once making eye contact with me, she actually laughed out loud at me when I handed over my credit card and her exact words to me were "You've got to be kidding me there is no way I'm taking a card for $2. I explained how I had made small purchases numerous times in the store with a credit card without any issue and with that, she shrugged her shoulders and said "Well if anyone else hear let you pay with a card in the past that's on them but I'm not letting you use your card for anything less than $10". I had never been told in the past that there was a minimum dollar amount required to make a purchase with a credit card, nor is there a visible sign anywhere around the register area noting this. Although I have a sneaky suspicion that after reading this review a sign will magically be posted, probably with a little notation claiming how long this Unwritten policy has been in effect. This very rude person never specifically said that this was a policy either, she simply blatantly refused to let me use my credit card when she had just let her personal friends, who she was still engaged in conversation with, make a small dollar purchase with their credit card while I was on line immediately behind them. This person should not be employed at this establishment and this is very very poor customer service! read more
