Listen. I'm a skeptical person. I was assuming my kitchen would never actually going to be finished. We needed some hefty demolition (built in desk, pantry & bulk head), new counters, cabinets, floors, plumbing, appliances and lighting. Give me a break, I was like "how many contractors do I need to call?".
I heard at work about this company Desirable Kitchens. They do kitchen refacing in addition to complete remodeling. You call just one person (he goes by Jimmy) and he has teams of contractors that do all of the work. Usually salespeople rub me the wrong way but Jimmy comes by our house and is friendly, reasonable, understanding, and has lots of good ideas about what would or wouldn't work in our kitchen. He designs, coordinates, and executes everything. You don't have to talk to anyone except him if you don't want to.
From the time that he showed up, to the time that we had a completely remodeled kitchen, I did nothing. No. Thing. It was great.
From the time that the contractors showed up on the first day, to the time that my entire kitchen was brand new, was 19 calendars days. 19. What? That's ridiculous.
Pricing. Kitchens are expensive, but I got a couple of quotes and for reference, this price was $29k LOWER than the one we got from Patete. It's not surprising considering he is his own Business Manager, Marketer, Designer, Coordinator, IT staff, and secretary. The person at work that I heard from had a 4 digit price-tag for a kitchen _refacing_, if that's what you're looking for. Not too bad. He does everything, and is really awesome to work with while doing it.
The contractors (John and Fred) were really nice guys. I trusted them in our home. They were respectful, cleaned up after themselves every day, had drop cloths to keep floors outside of the kitchen clean, and were REALLY fast. Did I mention this was done in 19 calendar days (and just 16 working days)?
I had a couple of complaints when we were done (needed a new door on a cabinet, because the paint job was off. The counter was dropped on the floor by a separate contracting company, so one of the floors in our front walkway needed to be replaced). We called Jimmy, and he took care of it. The cabinet was fixed and we ended up with new flooring in our front walkway. Nice.
If I had ANY bad thing to say at all, was that I wished we had asked to put in an electrical outlet in our island, but we didn't think of that when we were doing it. He gave us an electrician to call to get it done after the fact, which is awesome because electricians are typically impossible to get. Still, we spent maybe a grand total of 4 hours thinking about what we wanted, calling Jimmy, and going through plans for our kitchen and after just 16 working days of effort, our kitchen is completed. I couldn't give a higher review of this company. read more
