Before choosing a contractor, we met with roughly 15 different companies, and from our very first meeting, Nir stood out from the rest. Unlike many contractors we spoke with, Nir never made us feel pressured or rushed into making a decision. He took the time to thoroughly explain the entire process, what to expect, and answer all of our questions. We made a few design changes throughout the project, and Nir was always willing to meet with us, come back out to the house, review the revisions, and make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Throughout the entire project, he was always just a text or phone call away whenever we had a question. One thing we were especially happy about was how quickly they were able to get started. Within just a few days of signing the agreement, the crew was onsite and working. We wanted the project completed in time to enjoy our backyard during the summer, so that was a huge plus for us. The demo phase moved quickly, and throughout the entire project it was clear that everyone on the crew took pride in their work. There was always progress being made, and nobody was standing around waiting for something to do. The entire project took about 2-3 weeks, with a few days of delay due to an existing plumbing issue we discovered with our old galvanized main line. This was not related to their work, but once the issue was identified, Nir and his team were able to handle that project for us as well, including permits and inspections. After the plumbing work was completed, they got right back on track and finished everything quickly. As with any construction project, a few small items and details came up along the way that needed clarification or adjustment. Construction projects rarely go perfectly, and we had a few misunderstandings and unexpected issues come up throughout the process. What impressed us was that whenever something needed attention, Nir took ownership of it, communicated with us, and made sure it was resolved. In the end, everything was completed to our satisfaction. One of our biggest concerns before starting was who would actually be working on our property. We work from home and have kids, so we wanted to feel comfortable with the people who would be at our house every day for several weeks. One thing we really appreciated about Unique Home Builders was that they used their own crew. We got to know the team, everyone was respectful, and it made the entire experience much more comfortable. There were also a few design details that we changed while work was already underway. For example, around our palm trees we originally planned to do circular paver borders, but once we saw them taking shape, we decided we preferred square borders instead. We mentioned it to the foreman, and the team made the adjustment without any issues. That flexibility made a big difference. The job site was kept clean and organized throughout the project. During the demo phase there were naturally some days where material and debris accumulated in the front yard, but everything was organized, contained, and safely coned off. We also appreciated the little things. Whenever we were leaving or returning home while the crew was working, they would move equipment and materials out of the way for us, and they would even sweep up before leaving for the day. Those details did not go unnoticed. Pricing was very fair. Nir wasn't the cheapest bid we received, but he also wasn't the most expensive. Given the amount of work involved and the quality of the finished product, we felt the value was excellent. Just as importantly, the final cost matched the agreed contract price. Eldar is honest, experienced, and so very kind. He knows what he's talking about, he explains the issues thoroughly, his solutions are logical, and his prices are reasonable. Women, especially, take note: he won't talk down to you, and he won't bullsh*t you or waste your time. He stays positive and friendly, even when new challenges like huge, invasive roots up against and under the foundation reveal themselves as the project progresses. He communicates clearly, sets realistic expectations, and provides comprehensive progress updates at the beginning and end of each day, and sometimes more if urgent matters come up. He listens to clients' needs and expectations, and is very good at working with anxious customers. His team is professional, punctual, super friendly, and incredibly hardworking. They went above and beyond every single day, kept the worksite clean and tidy, and ultimately left my yard much cleaner than it was when they started. Now, if you want all the dirty details of my cracked slab and water intrusion saga: I had several different foundation/structural companies come out (yes, even the usual suspects in sponsored search results) and look at my foundation over the past few years, and I got vastly different suggestions on what I should do to solve my problem, with a range of very high prices. I was overwhelmed because none of the solutions seemed right to me, and I was worried some would actually end up causing other problems down the road because they went overboard on foundation support, but didn't address drainage. After my first meeting with Eldar, it was clear to me his solution would be the most effective for my problem, which was 99% caused by a lack of drainage around my property. The rest of the problem was caused by a very shallow free-pour foundation on one side of the house (1950s construction), which Eldar and his team uncovered during the excavation process, and supported by making some very solid, high-quality footing extensions, which they waterproofed. Expansive clay soil and a slope behind my house also factored in. I had so much anxiety about hiring a contractor who would take the wrong approach along with all my money that I basically sat on this problem for four years. Bad idea, I know. I'll spare you the details of my insanity every time it rained, but let's just say lots of stress, dozens of shop towels and multiple Quick Dam flood barriers were involved. I was seriously losing my mind with every new crack in my slab and walls. Now that Eldar and his team are done installing deep french drains, waterproofing, footing extensions and a sump pump, I feel such a sense of relief. I'm confident that I'm going to survive this year's anticipated El Niño storms while maintaining my sanity, and I feel so lucky I found The Foundation & Drainage Repair when I did.
