    Creating wearable art!

We LOVE Design Hive! We have come for their camps, planned art projects, and also done some drop-in days when I was looking for something fun to do with my kids last minute. The projects introduce my kids to new materials and skills while allowing them to think creatively about how they want to build and create. I've witnessed moments when my kids have become frustrated because something wasn't working the way they intended and the staff has always been encouraging and patient. They take the time to work with my kids on self-regulation while also motivating them to keep going. Design Hive teaches makers how to build but most importantly they create an environment where it's ok to mess up and that sometimes getting messy brings out our best ideas!

Perfectly packaged Design House kid!! Love!

We LOVE Design Hive! Owners Jen and Lauren are super talented EXPERTS and teachers when it comes to everything tech-related and kids! They are so patient, nice, and gifted. My daughter absolutely loved the Smart House class, even though it was done virtually (due to covid). All the kids were engaged and said it was the best virtual class they've done all summer. We're looking forward the Game Design class next! Thanks for this incredible program - you are a pandemic dream come true!!

Stopped by here on Sunday for their launch

The counselors were kind, energetic, patient, and truly invested in making sure every child had a great experience. What impressed me most was the balance of sports, games, and creative activities. My daughter especially looked forward to the arts and crafts portion, and it gave her a chance to express her creativity while making new friends. She came home every day smiling, full of stories, and already talking about what she couldn't wait to do the next day. We actually had to leave camp early because of a last-minute family trip, and she was genuinely heartbroken that she didn't get to say goodbye to everyone. I think that says everything about how meaningful this experience was for her. Thank you to the entire Got Game team for creating such a fun, safe, supportive, and memorable summer. This location is at the beautiful Turning Point School in Culver City, adjacent to Surfas, and the metroline. The parking lot is small but the staff were great at directing traffic and getting everyone in and out. They ask you to walk your child for check-in on the first day, and then your child may be dropped off at valet on the subsequent days. Pick-up is always inside and you must show ID (nice safety measure). My daughter made a vacuum and was so excited to share her experiences each afternoon at pick up. She also had an unfinished (?) nightlight in her bag on her last day. We purchased the extended care for the week (because we work full-time regular office hours and planned to have our daughter there from 8-6). The last day (Friday) had a "closing ceremony" at 2:30 PM. I was disappointed because we weren't aware of this at enrollment. It was very difficult to attend and the entire camp literally closed down afterwards. Luckily I got the day off, but otherwise, my daughter would have been "stuck" there until 6 and it really did feel like they were "done". Most of the kids already had a mindset that they were done and packed, and the staff seemed to be ready to say goodbye as well. Meals and snacks are not included - bummer! Choicelunch, a hot food delivery service is available. One other disappointment for me - I decided to change locations (from Culver City to Brentwood) because of the commute and was charged a fee. Culver City was already waitlisted, so in my opinion, I just freed up another spot for them and shouldn't have accrued a charge. The customer service representative told me that it "takes a lot of work" to exchange locations but I just don't understand it. Galileo is new to So Cal and I would expect them to make some exceptions, especially if I'm helping them out (by freeing up a space). It's difficult to say if we'll return to Galileo next year. My daughter enjoyed it but she has enjoyed all the other camps she's attended. She's got an outgoing and fun personality, and she doesn't have difficulty meeting friends and enjoys challenges. There are other camps in LA that are also fun, offer meals and/or snacks and are less expensive.

I took notice of Royal Basketball School who is frequently mentioned in positive reviews, with parents highlighting the quality of coaching, engaging drills, and positive learning environment. Royal Basketball School offers several locations and also offers weekly training and games. Praised for its fun and encouraging environment while teaching fundamentals and introducing players to competitive play. Coaches are highly regarded, and parents appreciate the focus on enjoyment, not just winning. Yes, many positive reviews highlighting the enjoyable experience for players, with emphasis on the friendly coaches and staff, as well as the ease of registration. I too have been impressed with the Owner/Executive Director, Yulia, Coach Anthony, as well as others Coaches Bryce, Coach Max, Coach Rob, Coach Mike, and others. They've all shown the utmost professionalism and positive mentorship to all. Royal Basketball School takes it a step further by hosting guest performances & Camps with internet sensation The Professor (Grayson Boucher) , Global Dunker 7'5" "everybody_hatechriss" Christon Staples, Slam Dunker Anthony Henderson (Anthony also Coaches for Royal Basketball School). Ty Jackson Worlds Shortest Dunker at 5'4" with a 51.5" vertical, and other professional basketball players. I highly recommend Royal Basketball School. Tips for choosing the best program: Consider your child's age and skill level: Some programs cater specifically to beginners or advanced players. Think about the program's philosophy: Do you prefer a focus on fun and participation, or competitive play? Research the coaches: Look for experienced and positive role models. Ask about the schedule and time commitment: Understand the practice and game frequency, and whether the program involves travel. Talk to other parents: Word-of-mouth is a great way to learn about the reality of a program. Factor in the cost: Understand what the fees cover and if financial aid is available. Remember, the "best" program is ultimately the one that best suits your child's needs and goals. By researching and asking the right questions, you can find a program that provides a positive and enriching basketball experience for your child. Good luck and Happy Ballin'!

The camp is run like a kibbutz, the campers and young staff are responsible for everything from programming to life guarding to cooking to cleaning the bathrooms. It's an incredible leadership development model - the kids aren't just learning about leadership, they're doing it. Also fantastic social justice education, designed and led by the young people. They are masters at experiential education - the campers are having so much fun I'm not sure they always realize they're learning.
