I had a very challenging case of poorly kept college teeth, bad initial work from another dentist/dental surgeon, and he picked up the pieces and got my smile stable. He was in it for the long game, worried about keeping my original structures intact as much as possible, but taking care of the repair work as necessary. He even saw me on a couple emergency occasions to repair prior fillings that had fallen out. I've been coming to see him for years, moved further away from his office, and chanced a cleaning visit at a dentist closer to my new home in the north Peoria area, during COVID times. NEVER again. That new dentist suggested a whole plan of unnecessary work to rack up expenses. I freaked out and went back to Dr. McIver, he went over what the other dentist spoke about and discussed what he would do if needed. We monitored it and it ended up being unnecessary after all. I'm one year out from the other visit, no additional work, regular cleanings and good self care w/Dr McIver's team and it's heaven. Yes, dental work is not cheap, but Dr. McIver is a great clinician. He does what's right for your dental health.

My son had been going to the dentist since he was 6 months old, and wasn't scared to go...until his visit here. We contacted this office April 2022 because my 2 year old had swollen gums. We brush 2x/day, and this seemed odd. They had a stand in doctor from another office this day; name I cannot recall, but either way, she was an employee of the same corporate entity, which means she was seeing other children at another office! We checked in and went to the chair. She looked in his mouth and asked about brushing habits; while we were brushing 2x/day, it was with a "Fluoride Free Toothpaste", which may have not been working for him. She told us he had gingivitis, and that we needed to brush hard and start using fluoride. She began to brush his teeth very rough with the toothpaste and our son was screaming, squirming and bleeding very bad in the mouth. It was horrific! It reminded me of the movie "The Dentist"...nothing short of traumatizing! Being that we had no experience with this, we trusted her! When I spoke with other dentists, they said she shouldn't have done that at all! We left there quickly, and I almost started crying! I just want other parents to know that this is not the experience you should have for your child, and I hope my review helps to point you in the right direction. If you want good quality of care, look outside of this group.

Unfortunately, since the practice changed ownership, the experience has declined significantly. When I arrived 3/31/26, I was unaware the practice had been sold. The front office staff immediately created an uncomfortable environment. The woman managing the front desk was loud, abrasive, and spoke to patients in a condescending tone. She also shared personal details about Dr. Benjamin and spoke negatively about her care, which felt highly inappropriate and unprofessional. During my visit, I was unexpectedly taken back for a cleaning. The hygienist was rough, and at one point a tool caused a burning sensation in my mouth. I stopped the cleaning immediately. At checkout, a simple request for my Invisalign trays turned into a tense and confrontational interaction. The same front office staff member was argumentative and escalated the situation unnecessarily. This was a very disappointing experience. It is unfortunate to see how far this practice has declined. I would not return or recommend this office.

But my teeth were in perfect condition. The X-rays were put in the room I was in were put there by mistake. I do not fault Dr. Stanfield for this. Dr. Stanfield is a nice, caring Dr. that does good work & he has always taken care of my teeth & done right by me. I have gone to him for many years. He was not there the day this happened. It was my fault for not saying anything to the tech about the X-rays at the time. So I am at fault for not bringing the x-rays to the attention of the dental tech there at the time.
