I use Desert Willow for all my dental needs. Great staff great dentists, great oral hygienists, great dental assistants, and state of the art equipment. I have had dental anxiety in the past, but not here. It feels more like visiting family and getting your teeth done at the same time. So here I am, two years into my journey and I've never felt better in my life regarding my dental health. Kris and Jannett are absolutely amazing! They work with my crazy schedule and are always very positive and friendly every time I speak to them via telephone or in person. Dr. Ewell is a super hero to me. She is always honest and proactive towards the health of my teeth. She had a lot of work to do in the last two years and I'm forever grateful to her. As for the staff, well they are equally amazing. So far I've been seen by Lindalee ( whom I miss dearly) Tanisha, Lindsay, and Sarah and every one has been caring, compassionate and positive. Never made me feel badly for the way I came in. I heard great things about this place and thought about checking it out. keep in mind this is my first yelp review. I called to see if they were accepting new patients as they were and we set up an appointment for myself with tara. she was very informative and nice and helpful and told me they accepted my insurance. I wake up the next day with 4 voice mails and texts with them saying "they cannot bill them" and " we would have you pay upfront and you send receipts" which i thought was weird considering my insurance is in network and never had this issue before. So i called my insurance and the insurance told me that they would personally call them and talk to them and call me back as they thought it was weird too. Now before i called my insurance and didn't have to be put on hold tara told me she waited over 2 hours on the phone with insurance provider. Basically said they would have to jump through all these loopholes and it would be to difficult for everyone so it was easier to give me the bill to give to my insurance. she also proceeded to tell me my prior dentist said the same thing which is not true.. so the experience i got from this was we just don't like your insurance because we don't know when we will get paid. They care about how fast insurance pays them not the quality of care of visit. fast forward my insurance calls me backs says everything is good so i call them back to make sure and they said no as we told you before we are CHOOSING to not accept your insurance because we don't know how long until we get paid. so what did they tell my insurance that made her think everything was good but switched up on me when k call back? something sounds fishy to me. not that i have a choice but i'll be going somewhere else. update, called a new dentist and they confirmed my insurance is accepted and they are in contact an hour after all this happened. good luck to the new money hungry takeovers read more

This was not my first visit to Dr. Wood's office, but same as before, they treated myself and my wife like family. We love this office and the staff, they are absolute professionals in their respective fields, from the front office staff to the hygienists to the dentists themselves. All are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and caring about their patients and their health. Everyone in the office is so kind and professional. I was treated for a chipped tooth by Dr Ewell, who is friendly, very skilled and very efficient. She was assisted by Linsday who also was so gracious and friendly. The staff seems to get along well as they were all engaged and the atmosphere was calming. First I want to say i was teetering on a 2 or 3 star, I went with 3, the betterment of the two because the office is very clean, staff is very nice, check in was a breeze, dental assistant was great, even Dr Woods was a nice man. My less then 5 star was for the reason I came in, which was for a second opinion for recommended work from a different dentist of which I have already invested THOUSANDS into my teeth as the result of a car crash. Dr Woods office wanted to do a full examination with X-rays even though I arrived with full records and X-rays, this was a second opinion on a 3 tooth bridge. He wouldn't do the 2nd opinion unless he did a full exam. We did 3/4's of the examination when I said enough, after mouth cancer inspection, depth tests, x-rays, orthodontic review, the 2nd opinion I came in for consisted of 3 seconds, the bigger opinion was my mouth is a wreck, extremely bad shape needing thousands upon thousands of work for decay and plaque everywhere, crowns needing redone, cleanings, dental hygienist, except I take very good care of my teeth! My other dentist is a top doc, I merely wanted a 2nd opinion on 1 repair, rather then Dr Wood's estimation and opinion I drink too much pop, when I drink pop only a couple times a month, 10-12x a year! I hate the dentist as it is, but the medical world takes every opportunity to say everything is terrible, they caught a disaster ready to happen, setting the stage for thousands in repairs and we must start immediately! In conclusion, Dr Woods is a good dentist of the perfect mouth. I know I have had a ton of work, I was in a head on collision from a wrong way driver I luckily walked away from the crash at all. Dr Woods would be good for new patients with no work, he'll find it, but be skeptical and very careful! If you have a lot of work already done, extremely good insurance and a pocket full of cash, you wIll spend it all here. As for me, I won't be returning. Good luck out there! read more

Dr. Wood and Dr. Ewell were amazing. Dr. Ewell performed the initial exam and explained things clearly and made areas that were giving me problems the highest priority over expensive gum treatments and cleanings that would max out my insurance. Dr. Wood performed my root canal and he was phenomenal. I had one half second burst of pain near the end of the procedure when the anesthetic was wearing off and he immediately stopped and numbed me up more and checked to make sure I was comfortable. The front office staff is kind and helpful in regards to understanding your treatment plan and they all work out the best plan based on prioritizing problem areas as well as your budget. If you're looking for a dentist in the area, I HIGHLY recommend their services. You won't be disappointed. read more

Went for my usual 6-mos dental cleaning with Linda who still hasn't wavered on providing stellar service! While I was there I ended up getting the top of 5 teeth filled due to gum recession by Dr. Ewell. I was leery about how off-colored they might be specially since one of them was my canine. But much to my surprise, they turned out absolutely perfect; even after I noted that I planned to use whitener in the near future which she made them a hint whiter. I have been to many dentists and I must say that I am so very impressed with Dr. Wood. He is kind, gentle, caring and thorough. I had to have my tooth extracted and will need to have an implant done. He has helped me in getting this set up. I was also incredibly impressed that the night I had the tooth extracted he HIMSELF, called to make sure I was doing okay! I was unable to answer the call but I felt so honored that he would take the time to check up on me. He also offered me a direct line to get a hold of him if I were to have any issues. The customer service of Mary and Jill is spectacular, they are wonderfully sweet ladies to work with and I enjoy talking with them. The hygenist (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) was sweet, wonderful and so caring. The assistant (whose name I have also forgotten) for my extraction was also just amazing. I was quite anxious and even though I had the laughing gas I expected to feel some pain (I did not but the expectation was there...sounds etc.). She knew just how to calm my nerves and help me to relax. I am so incredibly impressed with this office and am so glad I followed through on the referral I received from a friend. I had an extremely professional and delightful experience. Usually dental visits can be filled with anxiety however, all of the office staff was extremely kind and helpful. My favorite part was meeting the very down-to-earth Dr. John Wood. As I was explaining my new tmj issues due to much added stress from my mom recently passing away, he told me about his story and the pain he endured as well from losing his mom as well. We have all had need to find a new dentist and have worried about running into a quick buck dentist. You know the type... all fillings should be replaced, everything needs to be fixed before it gets worse, unheard of treatments and procedures. That is NOT Dr. Wood. I am the worst dental patient but everyone from the front office staff to Dr Ewell treated me with respect and dignity. It was my first visit there and since I'm such a phobic I was given a referral to a sedation dentist to take care of all my dental issues in one visit. I greatly appreciated that Dr Ewell recognized very quickly that she wouldn't be able to treat me and made other arrangements for me to get my toothache resolved. Let me preface this review with this simple statement: I HATE going to the dentist. I don't mean I dislike it or it is unpleasant for me. I mean I really really HATE going to the dentist. I grew up with military dentists and if you grew up going to them you understand. Dr. Wood is very patient and considerate with people like me. He explains what he is doing and why. He also gives me laughing gas right after he finishes talking about what we are doing for that visit. That stuff is wonderful and makes going to the dentist so much easier. I have to also say that I refer to my teeth as 'the million dollar mouth' because of the amount of dental work I have had and still need. Dr. Wood did my most recent, but not last, crown. I have a mouth full of crowns and am on my second or third set for most of them so I have some experience with the procedure. The crown Dr. Wood put in is the best fitting, most natural looking crown I have. No gaps and the color is darn near a perfect match and I am not easy to match on color. It was also the least painless crown procedure I have ever had done and one of the most reasonably priced. Could I feel this way because of the gas? Maybe.....but I do think part of it was because of the Dr's skill. The staff is wonderful, Jill and Mary at the front desk are friendly and caring. Kathy is the hygienist and does a great job. These women are great and I almost feel sorry for the Dr when they start teasing him. Almost but not quite. If you are looking for a good dentist in this area, take a few minutes and check out Dr. Wood. You will be glad you did. read more

Unfortunately, my 5 star positive experience only applied to my first visit. The following two visits were a bit of a nightmare really. I'm a big believer in supporting businesses that genuinely care for their customers (patients) and I found out the hard way, this was not the case here. The front desk staff is nice and the office is clean and high tech which gives this updated review 2 stars. When I had no issues, this place was great. However, when they managed to rip out my permanent, cemented in retainer during a routine cleaning, things were handled far from five star. I gave them another chance after that poorly handled incident and was treated so poorly after they took me back 30 MIN after my appt time. I ended up leaving without my cleaning. Like most people, I am not a fan of visiting the dentist, especially for what I assumed would be an extraction of a molar (or worse). But after waking up at 2:30am one morning because of an agonizing pain, I knew I had to visit the dreaded dentist. Dr. Woods office was a two minute drive from my house, was open at 7:00am, and more importantly, had wonderful reviews from other patients. I called and spoke with Lisa who was so kind to me, she said that I could be seen that very day at 2:30. I asked her to let me know if anything sooner opened up in the meantime. She then told me to come in at 8:00am to get the paperwork and x-rays out of the way, that way we could just immediately begin the work in the afternoon. I happily accepted that suggestion! While there, after the x-rays, Dr. Woods numbed the area up with a long-lasting shot so I could make it through the day until he could work on the tooth. They were able to bump me up to 2:00pm, which was also great, the sooner the better. I had to had a root canal on my back molar (which has three nerves...UGH!), but other than a few short pains, the procedure was nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be. The whole time everyone helped to calm me down because of how nervous and distraught I was, which made the whole process so much easier. I still need to go back in one week to complete the procedure, but I am not afraid, thanks to the kind and caring staff and Dr. Woods concern for my pain. I have already referred two friends to Dr. Woods office and I will continue to refer anyone that needs a dentist. read more

Leaving my dentist back home of over 18 years made me VERY nervous. Since I'm new to the area I came to trusty Yelp to help me find someone. I called & the lady on the other end of the phone was so unbelievably sweet & answered all of my questions, she got me in within 2 days. Upon my arrival I was greeted with such a warm welcome from all of the staff. I was taken back & seen promptly. Dr. Wood was so friendly & warm & everyone helped with my uneasiness. They talked me thru every step & when I came back 2 weeks later for my filling the ladies at the front remembered me & greeted me with the same friendly, warm demeanor as before. I was very nervous & actually shaking but Dr. Wood & his staff once again calmed my nerves & made me feel at ease. I've only been here twice but the staff has all made me feel like I'm a long time patient! I even received a letter with a hand-written note from Dr. Wood thanking me for becoming his patient.
