My mother called in November 2025 to get an emergency appt for her lethargic, 1 1/2 yr old cat. We told them the cat had stopped eating and drinking, was extremely lethargic, and was progressively losing the use of his hind legs. He was stumbling about and falling over. The cat was VERY sick and symptoms were sudden onset and getting worse. The cold-hearted receptionist said we could have an appointment on January 9, 2026 or if we didn't like that we could drive to Mexicali,Mexico. My 83 yr old mother was extremely upset! I got on the phone and told them the condition of the cat was dire and he would probably die well before January without help. The poor cat suffered another 3 weeks and died in great pain. My mom is still traumatized by the memory of her cat's agonized meows through the night until he died. I'd give minus 100 stars if I could. read more

I brought in my cat for respiratory issues. Dr. Satow suspected my cat had FIP (a terminal feline illness) and came to this assumption by jiggling his belly (!!!!), assuming it was fluid. He told us to come back in a month even though my cat was in bad respiratory distress. No medication was given, no tests were done. Literally just the belly jiggle. We brought him home and my husband and I had a ?!wtf just happened?! moment so we drove back and the vet arbitrarily gave us some antibiotics. Anyways. My cat was just fat and had pneumonia. We had a bad feeling about the whole thing so we took my cat to another veterinarian in San Diego for a second opinion. Our cat had X-rays (confirmed NOT fluid, just a chunky belly) , bloodwork, and was given oxygen to help him breathe within an hour of us arriving at their office. Unfortunately we had to euthanize our cat, but at least he didn't suffer being unable to BREATHE for another few weeks longer. I'm not sure if this guy is just overbooked because he's one of the only veterinarians in the valley, or if he specializes in just like...less complicated health issues, but I have at least 4 friends who have had bad experiences at this vet office in which if they would have listened to Dr. Satow's advice, their pet would have passed away or suffered unnecessarily. One of my friend's dogs passed away overnight in their care after being misdiagnosed. I will say the female vet tech with the tattoos was very sweet and my baby liked her very much. Pay the extra money and go to San Diego or yuma or mexicali or literally anywhere else in the world read more

I adopted Hank from the Humane Society of Imperial County and that was a beautiful experience however. As an adoption perk, you are given a packet of freebies, including a free wellness exam with Desert Veterinary Group in Imperial. It clearly says to call within 3 business days to schedule the appointment. I adopted Hank at 7:00 pm on Dec 23, I called to schedule an appointment on 12/29 and they said no to a free exam, and I inquired about paying for an exam, and they said they are not accepting new patients. I am clearly within 3 business days as per their own admission of their offices Christmas hours. This is disappointing and why not just remove your business name from the Humane Society's packet, if you have enough business? Well, the good thing is there are plenty of other vets Palm Springs and San Diego. read more

Took in my Pup for her initial shots. The two ladies behind the desk were stone faced pillars. One looked almost angry. The animals in the waiting area had far more personality. We were talked at and handed a clip board with barely a look up. Perhaps coincidentally, the frowny, pucker-faced receptionist was chatty and friendly to Hispanic appearing customers but not us or even my wife, who is also Hispanic but fair complected. When I made the apt., I gave the pertinent on my dog's age and what I was wanting to have done, the Parvo and rabies shots, only to get there and be told a pup has to be at least 4 months to start the rabies vaccination, so we'd have to wait 3 weeks for that. How can whomever answers the phone not know this or fail to point this simple fact out then? That's a glaring lack of awareness and customer service. That little tid-bit of information would have been nice to know. What I can only assume was the Veterinarian came in, with no personal introduction, he mentioned getting us information on a trainer, as he gave her an injection because she will be a big dog. I heard nothing further on that subject. He looked so briefly in her mouth I almost missed that he actually did it.He declared that she was part chow-which I highly doubt-but didn't state why or ow he came to that conclusion. No other inspection was apparently done (e.g. ticks or fleas) nor were we asked if we had any questions or concerns before he walked out. Then the tech comes in-nice enough-with the job to hand us a stack of brochures to different products, most of which were unnecessary if not unwanted. The one product question that I asked about was about the Frontline Gold and what was different about it than the regular kind, and she didn't know. In fact, she said she didn't even know if they carried that there. I stepped out, and there they were, stacked in plain sight behind the stone cold faces of the receptionists. So I'll buy it elsewhere at a reputable seller for probably less money anyway. Watch out for pirated fakes on places like Amazon, and NEVER use the poison crap like Hartz or any of the kind of flea treatments found at paces like grocery stores. They can seriously harm and even kill your pet. I'd only use this place if there were no other choices, and would travel any reasonable distance for better service. read more

All the receptionists were really professional and friendly, the price for the service I received was very affordable. The veterinarian was quick and to the point which I appreciated! This veterinarian barely gave our dog 1mL of euthanasia, what a cheap and idiotic thing to do! Proper veterinary procedure dictates to give a pet 1mL of euthanasia per 10 pounds. A practice of quality gives an extra mL to expedite the process. Meaning: a dog weighing anywhere from 10-15 pounds should be given at the very least 1.5mL; with most clinics of quality giving 2-3mL just in case. Our toy poodle was 10 pounds, 8 ounces, and because the doctor barely gave him enough, he kept snapping and it ultimately prolonged the experience to about three minutes. Three minutes may not seem like a long time, but it certainly is when you see your already struggling dog in further agony because of the veterinarian's greed. Thank God my sister is a registered veterinary technician who earned her Bachelor of Science in Vet-Tech Studies from CalPoly Paloma and was there to witness and educate my family on how cheap the doctor had operated. Only go to this clinic if it's your last resort. I see reviews comparing it to the clinic on the east side of El Centro, but my family has had two dogs euthanized there in the past, and both times our pets "went down" in less than 30 seconds. The only reason we didn't go there is because of this COVID-19 epidemic. We should've just gone to Mex and dealt with the traffic coming back. read more

Customer service class might be a good suggestion for the staff AND Dr. Satow. It's probably not necessary as there's not much to choose from in the Imperial Valley. I've hesitated to post a negative comment, but apparently it's not just a "bad day" since this has happened the past 3 visits. My cat was xray'd and blood work done. Almost $500. No call back. I had to call. Dr. said it everything looked good. Could be arthritis. Two weeks later I had to put my cat down due to gastrointestinal complications that were diagnosed by a vet in San Luis with Dr. Satow's xrays. I should have had another set of eyes 2 weeks earlier- right after the xrays, maybe my kitty would still be alive. He was only 11 years old. Can you at least act like you care about the animal when the owner is present? How do you treat my animal when I'm not there? Completely disappointed! read more

My dog passed away this weekend because they refuse to treat even their own patients after hours or on weekends. They send you to La Mesa, over two hours away. That is too far in an emergency. We tried to get there but my sweet baby passed when we were about 15 min. away, I can not say that the out come would have been different but I do know that if they had someone on call, my dog would have made it there alive to at least get medical care. Took stars off because while Dr. Satow is great with animals he absolutely sucks with people. More than once he's had a snappy, crappy attitude with me and it gets really old really quick. I may not be a vet but yes, Dr. Satow, I know which end of a dog bites. I also know the holding advice you gave me would have for sure gotten you bitten, so the crap attitude about not know which end of the dog is the head is kind of unnecessary. He could take some advice from his staff on how to treat and talk to clients because while you're treating the animal, at the end of the day it's the pet parent that gets dealt with and decides whether or not to come back. read more

Love this group! The first time we came we were not aware that their was a military discount and the lady at the desk let us know since she saw my wife's uniform :) we've come back and forth here many times for vaccines, acute issues, pregnancy appointments, and most recently one our puppies breaking her leg! Each time I never feel like I'm coming out being rushed or felt like I was being swindled! We've been to two other clinics out here in the area (in emergencies when desert vet was not available) and both made me feel like I spent a lot of money for not a lot of care. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Honestly Craig Satow does not deserve to call himself a doctor. He doesn't care about the animals he sees at all and hardly spends two minutes looking at them. He's also extremely dismissive to owners who are trying to explain what is going on with their own pets and shuts them down when they're expressing their concerns. We've spent months and hundreds of dollars desperately trying to get our animals treated and all he does is prescribe medications that do absolutely nothing and cost an arm and a leg then tells you to come back in a couple weeks. He barely looks at your animal and won't run any sort of real test on them besides a cursory glance to actually figure out what's going on with them. It's painfully obvious all he cares about is charging owners money rather than helping beloved pets. I'm frustrated, exhausted and disgusted with this vet and of having to see my animals stay sick. My recommendation if you have a sick pet is to just go to San Diego and have a real veterinarian care for them. Please do not bring them here, if you want them to get better. All you get here is heartache and an empty wallet. read more

I contacted this vet clinic because I found a stray who was so severely sick that it needed immediate attention or an opportunity to die peacefully by euthanasia if needed. The front desk declined to see her because they were only seeing current clients and were fully booked. I was in tears begging for an exception but I was turned down no matter what I said. The front desk didn't even try to speak to the vet or talk to anyone about making an expectation for this dying pet that was suffering so badly. I get that they are fully booked and COVID complicates everything, but for someone to have so little compassion for a dying animal in so much pain is heartbreaking. They referred me to another veterinarian in El Centro but the lady stated "good luck" and said I was probably going to be rejected there too like many others she had referred there. read more

Got an appointment for nail trim and anal glad expression. Fee was $9.00 for nails and $10.00 for expression. Customer service is a bit weird. Walked in to our appointment and the secretary didn't greet us until she finished putting her lipstick on. I filled out a form and then a guy came from the back to get one of my dogs. The first guy was nice, the second guy..a tall dark one came out and just asked if my dog was friendly. While I waited I was looking around and saw that you could see to the back where they were trimming my dogs nails. When the guy saw me looking he moved... I guess he didn't want me to see him working on my dog (weird). He came back to drop off my dog and I said thanks...he didn't say anything and walked away. My beloved British short hair, Stormy had contracted Feline panleukopenia virus aka distemper (albeit he was fully vaxxed) when I took him to the humane society to be nurtured. They didn't inform me till that day that the process is done at a vet in Mexicali. 4 days later my cat was vomiting and had runny bloody stools. I've never dealt with distemper as I've always taken every precaution. I called DVG bawling my eyes out as I was watching my huge healthy cat (he was 17 lbs guys) parish painfully, in spite being completely booked they made room to see my Stormy, sadly the distemper took my baby just two hours before the appt. Even though my cat wasn't seen by the vet, the mire fact that the staff were with me in any way they could be over the phone and the vet extending his already long day for me meant something. Other offices gave me a flat "no, were booked. We can see you in two weeks". My cat wasn't going to make it but this office was willing to try anything they could. I never write reviews but I felt the need to write this one because very few places in the valley are worth a damn with ethics or integrity. This place proved something to me that so many others fell short with. I want to thank the staff for their condolences when I called back in tears with the bad news, and when I called into ally, begging for help, they knew my pain and tried regardless of the grim outlook. The price I was quoted was reasonable even for an emergency visit. read more
