I hired this company for a couple jobs last year. Each job was over 1000 so not super small Jobs. The first job was delayed multiple times, starting with weather then...just ongoing. i had lines repaired in the backyard, new lines installed in the front yard and some lighting installed in the front. I hired them for a second job to fix a leak and they ran a new line. It was a creative solution to a problem and I was happy with it, however 2 days after installation a big new leak started where they were working. They said they would fix it. I went back and forth for 4 WEEKS to get it fixed. I believe the owner was very sick (during the pandemic) ok, stuff happens, but they told me they were coming every week for 4 weeks. Eventually, I had to pay someone else so I could get my water back on. On top of that, while this happened one of the new patio lights stopped working. I opened the valve box to discover a shut off valve had broken. Realizing I was in over my head to repair it I went to Yelp to find a professional and get some quotes. Desert Valley Irrigation was 1st to respond and I set an appointment for a couple hours later. Nick and Tracy had flawless communication and arrived on time. They diagnosed the repair and gave me a quote. I had received another quote online for the same repair and they were very close in price. I always support small businesses so this was an easy decision. I scheduled the repair for the next day. Again the next day they arrived on time, had great communication and got right to work. The repair was done and my irrigation is working perfectly now. They also set the timer and gave advice on some other plants we had concerns with. Nick and Tracy both come from a family of landscapers and bring a wealth of knowledge. They do the job right with quality parts. There is a lot of competition in the landscaping industry here. We then had her return to do another zone because we were so happy about the work she did. We will continue to call her back to do three to four more zones. This is a family owned, veteran friendly company and Nick and Tracy are excellent to work with - true professionals in every way. We contracted with them to have our front and back yard irrigation changed over to PVC pipes after experiencing numerous leaks from the cheap plastic the builder uses. Nick responded to my Yelp request right away and after measuring our yard and talking to us about options, he sent us a quote that evening. We were able to schedule the work within a couple weeks and after two days, my yard was totally converted to PVC to include a new irrigation controller. They cleaned up after themselves and the yard looked great once finished. My plants are happy too! What really sold me on Desert Valley Irrigation was their warranty - two years AND they come out in the spring and fall each year to check the system and adjust for summer/winter watering. Just a follow up to my original post. After the incredibly unprofessional job they did we obtained 5 estimates to make repairs to their work which was so far below industry standards one of the representatives wrote a letter itemizing the substandard work they did. To have them come to our house, demo the work Desert Vally Irrigation did and do the job correctly, meaning to industry standards, would cost us upwards of $13,000. Be advised. They DO NOT have a contractors license. They DO NOT have insurance. They DO NOT have a bond. They have nothing to satisfy the law concerning the work they do. read more

Used Desert Valley in the fall of 2022 to redo our drip system in the front yard, replacing builder flex hose with pvc. Chose them due to price and in hindsight probably would have gone a different direction. Completed job was ok. A few plants didn't have drippers hooked up and one had the hose run but no dripper. The trenching areas were very clear after completion and had to go out and not only retake the rock but also move and flatten out the dirt. read more

Firstly, they responded very quickly to our initial request for a quote. We had submitted 10 requests for quotes, 3 contacted us back and only Desert Valley immediately scheduled a in person assessment of the irrigation. Once here, they checked everything very throughly and walked me through the issues. Our water bill had quadrupled for previous month so something was wrong. They provided the complete quote same day and scheduled us for service less than a week out. Very nice people but they fell under hard times which resulting in them not being able to do the job. They took and likely spent our deposit money ( thousands of dollars) and is non responsive to texts, emails or calls. They are stalling to respond because they dont have the money and its honestly heart breaking that I now have to seek legal action when all I wanted was to have my yard done so my daughter could celebrate her birthday outside. I asked them to come and install new irrigation lines to feed some new ficus columns and bugambilia vines I am having installed in my back yard. They were on time, efficient, did great work and are super friendly to boot. They have a vested interest in water conservation being Phoenix natives and truly care about the quality of their work while managing the environmental impact. I am irritated that Yelp would even refer this shop. In all fairness, they did a decent job fixing a small leak in my drip line which most shops would charge $50 for the 5 minutes of work. These guys charge $100, but not a big deal and that is probably what they typically do. Unfortunately, I hired these guys for a much larger project (digging out tree wells which is probably mostly un-necessary, moving some rock around and installing mesh over weep holes in cinder block) and found the quality of work to be mediocre at best and laughably bad at worst. The weep hole covers that they caulked to cinder block and took them a whole 2 minutes a weep hole to install are already falling off. Good grief! read more

Nick and Tracy went above and beyond to give us the service we needed. We are in Casa Grande (45 miles south of Phoenix). They came from Goodyear (25 miles west of Phoenix). The watering at our new build home was not working correctly. (One tree and some other plants had died.) They checked the timer box, the emitters, line placements, and all the valves. When they were finished all the lines were running properly and giving water where it's needed. The backyard was a bit of a blank canvas (in terms of landscaping). We asked for ideas, suggestions. They gave some great ideas, including pavers, curbing, low maintenance turf, tree placement, shrubs, and weed control. We're going to have them back for more help. The owner, Nick, came out last week and gave me a quote of $600.00 to change 2 valves, the timer panel and extend an already existing line, add hose, down the side of my house. Nick's wife showed up to do the work, which seems adequate but only time will tell. When she was done, she told me it would be $1200, double the price I was quoted. She got her husband on the phone who tried to argue that he quoted me just the timer and valves at $600 and the line was an extra $600 (that's some expensive irrigation hose). There was never a figure of $1200 for the job thrown out there, and had there been, I would have gone with another company. They tried to argue that the timer alone was $300. Turns out, the exact timer at Lowe's is $51.99 (see picture) and the irrigation valve is $64.98, which mine is probably less given I have 2 lines. I am more than happy to pay for service at a price that was agreed upon ( which I paid them the $600) but do not appreciate the bait and switch tactics this couple uses. These people are not honest or ethical. Get everything in writing if you choose to do business with them! I personally would run!!! Interesting post on BBB I found after the fact. I had reached out to Nick to provide me with a free quote on a simple sprinkler job (fixing a few sprinkler heads and looking at my overall system). Nick and Tracy arrived at my home on Wednesday 10/13 and instead of quoting me how much the job would be, they got right to work switching out sprinkler heads and looking over everything. It didn't cross my mind to ask for the quote as we were talking as they were working. They ended up switching out 3 sprinkler heads and they also found that my valves were leaking so he quoted me $100 for each valve replacement (I have 5) and I also wanted them to put in a drip system which would cost $200. When they finished, I had to ask them how much I owed them. They then told me it would be $125 ($25 per sprinkler head and then $50 to come out). Before Nick had come out, I had asked him if he charged any additional fees and he stated that he only charged for the work her did. The $125 price tag for the work that was done caught me very off guard. Not only did I not get a quote before the service was done, but I also was charged $50 more dollars than I thought because I was told that they only charge fees for the work they do. I wasn't going to not pay them for their work so I sent the money via Venmo and I asked why they charge the $50 additional fee. They said it's a fee they charge the first time they come out normally. I felt frustrated that I was not told this information before they arrived but I didn't want to haggle with them and I had already paid them. They left and I was still feeling frustrated about the price I had paid for the simple service I was provided. I understand paying professionals for the work they do but I was not given a quote before they started working and I was also not told about the additional fee they charge even though I had asked Nick about those types of fees before he came out. I was still thinking I wanted them to do the valve replacements and drip line but I was feeling frustrated by lack of communication regarding pricing and not giving me a quote prior to starting the work so I called Nick to voice that I was disappointed no quote was provided to me and that I was not told about the $50 fee. When I spoke with Nick, he was immediately defensive. He seemed annoyed I didn't bring up my feelings at the time of the service but I was so caught off guard by the price that I didn't know what to say at the time. I told him he didn't provide me with a quote and he apologized and asked how he could make the situation right. I requested he give me the $50 back because I was not told about it nor was I provided a quote before they started working. He didn't want to do that but instead offered to take $50 off the valve replacement/drip line job. I thought that would be okay so I decided to try to end the call by making sure Nick knew why I had called him. He then proceeded to tell me he disagreed with how I handled the situation and that since he's "a man" (his exact words), he would've handled everything when we were face to face. He was saying that I handled the situation wrong and that I wasn't "a man" by the way I handled it. This really frustrated me because everyone handles things different ways and Nick decided to personally attack me. I then did not want him to do another job for me because he was very unprofessional so I asked him to send me the $50 back through Venmo. He agreed and then we ended the call. Today is Sunday 10/17 and Nick has still not sent me the $50 back. I was hoping to not write a review and instead handle the situation with Nick. Instead, he made things personal and was defensive, unprofessional, and rude when I voiced my frustrations and disappointment. Nick and Tracy did a good job on the sprinklers but Nick did not give me correct information before arriving and he did not give me a quote before they started the job. If you have frustrations with the service you were provided, know Nick does not know how to separate his professional work and how he normally treats people. We needed our polyethylene tubing irrigation system (front/rear slow drip, rear sprinklers) replaced, as it was quite old and developing numerous leaks. We sent Yelp messages to eight landscapers/irrigation contractors and Desert Valley was the first to respond and one of only three who saw the system and provided an estimate. They also scheduled the work for later that same week at the lowest bid we received. Tracy and Luis completed the system overhaul by replacing the tubing with Sch40 PVC with three new valves, timer, drip lines and rear yard sprinklers in about 1.5 days. They also replaced two dead plants (we provided replacements) as a last minute request from us when we went to pay them for their excellent work. I recommend Desert Valley highly!! read more

But, in this instance, I felt compelled to do so for this small business. Nick and his team came to my property to install a new system in the front and replace valves/piping in the back. While we started off on the wrong foot due to a misunderstanding with the original scope of work, Nick was very responsive to our concerns. The initial contact with the owner to get a quote for a complete irrigation installation for our front & backyard was positive. However, the actual work started 9 days after the committed start date and we had to contact them when several committed dates were missed (did not show). We provided a complete list of requirements with front & back designs and flagged all locations of required manifolds and bubblers. There were lots of quality issues, bubblers missing, manifolds 3'-4' from the flagged locations required. Some of the issues were fixed, but not all and more arouse. We tried to settle with the owner, the cost of materials and labor when about 60 - 65% of the work was complete, the owner and employee on site threatened us with property damage (removal of the materials installed) and a lean on our house if we did not pay them 86% of the full amount. We filed a police report for the threats and paid the owner what he wanted, in order to severe the relationship. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. I was told that I was the problem not their work. read more
