My son has gone to this school for four years. The last two years have been amazing because we had…read morethe most incredible teacher. Mrs. Chavez taught my son so much in the 3 & 4 grade. We were lucky enough to have her twice since she moved from third to fourth. She would spend her lunch time tutoring my son when he needed just a little more help. She genuinely cares about her students and it shows. My son asked her to move to the fifth grade so he could have her again. I wish we would have been so lucky in the first and second grade. It wasn't the best experience. I feel my son did not mesh well with the teachers and they were very LONG years! Tehachapi Learning Academy also known as Tila is part of the Tehachapi Unified School District. So the kids enrolled can still go to activities that the Junior high and High school have. So sports, dances, assemblies they are included if that's what interest them. Also they will graduate and walk with the senior class. You have the choice to do some classes at the schools and also at home on the computer. Mine kids did only the online classes and came in once a week to take their tests. If your child is self motivated and disciplined they will really succeed in this program. My daughters only did high school so I can't give a rating or information on elementary or junior high. I will really miss the teachers and secretary at this school. Mrs. Hoffman is so nice and helpful, both my daughters loved her. Nichole at the front desk brightens your day when you go in. She was so good to my daughter. Mrs. Pulford would let my daughter take test in her office because it was quiet in there. I would not change one thing about this school. It was a great experience for our family.

The AV Wall is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington D.C., and it is a mobile Vietnam war memorial that can be easily viewed by residents within Southern California. Check out their website at www.avwall.org. It is only displayed a small number of times each year, and display locations can be found on their website. There is also an option to donate to this worthy cause through their website. In observance of Veterans Day this year, I chose to visit the AV Wall at Westpark Elementary School as my way of showing kindness, admiration and respect for our Veterans. In my opinion, nothing is more honorable than a person willing to serve their country for the benefit of all those within it. While visiting, I met some kind individuals who were volunteers for this display, all of whom have served their country. I enjoyed just standing there while listening to their experiences, some fascinating and some tragic, with the magnificence of this awesome memorial as a background. If you have the ability to check out this tribute, please do so. If you miss this temporary display at Westpark Elementary, and you live in Southern California, then be sure to check out the AV Wall website for future viewing opportunities. Special note: The AV Wall display is currently planned to retire at the end of 2025, so if you'd like to see it, do it soon. The district certified teaching staff, principals, and school classified personnel have all been…read morewonderful to my family and I through the years that my siblings attended their schools (Sundown and Joe Walker). Why am I rating this a 3 then instead of a 5? - Due to their HR when you apply for employment for their district. I have applied to their district multiple times. The first few times I heard back and even had interviews. I was always encouraged to keep trying, keep applying. And I did just that but the attitude shifted suddenly. When I send emails to check on the job(s) I apply to I get short non-assuring responses, giving off the sense that I'm bothering their work day with the emails. Keep in mind, I have a degree focused on being in a school setting and prior experience exceeding the minimal qualifications. This is upsetting as the unemployment rates are high and I'm getting this type of response from their HR.
