Mrs. Bryant was the most amazing Resource Teacher. She was patient, caring, and made herself available when my kids needed some extra help. Mrs. Bryant would give my girls their assignments and then look them over at our next appointment time. This school offers many Enrichment classes such as Math, Art, Music, Literature, basically for all classes. I hear now they even have Agriculture for the kids. I really liked the Enrichment classes because it gets your child out of the house for awhile and interact with other kids. I was very happy with the field trips offered each year. Science Museum, Calm, Red Rock Canyon, Camp Keep, and many more. They recently bought Carden Schools property on Brian way. It will be nice when they are finished with that. This school is K-12 and you pick your own curriculum. Also a great thing they offer is you can sign your child up for Vendor Services such as Gymnastics, Dancing, Equestrian Club to name a few. She genuinely cares about her students and it shows. My son asked her to move to the fifth grade so he could have her again. I wish we would have been so lucky in the first and second grade. It wasn't the best experience. I feel my son did not mesh well with the teachers and they were very LONG years! For the past several years parents have run fundraisers to pay for field trips. This year the admins axed the field trips. We still did fundraisers but they chose to spend the money on unnecessary classroom equipment. A couple of $2,000 filing cabinets. And they think the toys and play equipment are dingy. There is a storage container full of toys that the teachers periodically switch out, and parents happily donate toys all the time. Those filing cabinets and other junk should not be coming out of the classroom budget, and I am not fundraising for it. The administrators also berate the teachers about inconsequential issues when they sit in on the classes periodically. It is ridiculous. The epitome of bloated bureaucracy.

The AV Wall is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington D.C., and it is a mobile Vietnam war memorial that can be easily viewed by residents within Southern California. Check out their website at www.avwall.org. It is only displayed a small number of times each year, and display locations can be found on their website. There is also an option to donate to this worthy cause through their website. In observance of Veterans Day this year, I chose to visit the AV Wall at Westpark Elementary School as my way of showing kindness, admiration and respect for our Veterans. In my opinion, nothing is more honorable than a person willing to serve their country for the benefit of all those within it. While visiting, I met some kind individuals who were volunteers for this display, all of whom have served their country. I enjoyed just standing there while listening to their experiences, some fascinating and some tragic, with the magnificence of this awesome memorial as a background. If you have the ability to check out this tribute, please do so.
