They had an opportunity to be outstanding and dispel rumors about their lack of commitment. From the wrong bus driver who should be fired to the district secretary who would rather escalate miscommunication by talking over me rather than defusing the situation and simply listen and acknowledge my concerns, there are some significant concerns I have about over the way public education is presented to the students here in Tehachapi. I got a call today from a pissed off son who said that the bus driver left him in an unfamiliar part of town. I'm guessing the driver assumed everyone knows their way around town. No dude...we just moved here... A couple concerns I have may be trivial, but they inspired this review. First, school, transportation department, and the district are difficult to reach and have no voicemail. That's inconvenient when I'm trying to find out where the bus driver left my son, who said he was "in the middle of nowhere." Second, the school closed all the water fountains because of Covid, but didn't tell parents ahead of time and neglected to provide students with any alternative except the "Brawndo" in the vending machines. So he didn't have any water from home without providing him with any water all day

Mrs. Bryant was the most amazing Resource Teacher. She was patient, caring, and made herself available when my kids needed some extra help. Mrs. Bryant would give my girls their assignments and then look them over at our next appointment time. This school offers many Enrichment classes such as Math, Art, Music, Literature, basically for all classes. I hear now they even have Agriculture for the kids. I really liked the Enrichment classes because it gets your child out of the house for awhile and interact with other kids. I was very happy with the field trips offered each year. Science Museum, Calm, Red Rock Canyon, Camp Keep, and many more. They recently bought Carden Schools property on Brian way. It will be nice when they are finished with that. This school is K-12 and you pick your own curriculum. Also a great thing they offer is you can sign your child up for Vendor Services such as Gymnastics, Dancing, Equestrian Club to name a few. It is for children ages 1-18 only, and it is free. If you bring 5 children the adult bringing them also gets free meal. Today when we went to Jacobsen Middle School, they gave the kids a sandwich, carrots and ranch, chips, slushy, milk and water. Perfect lunch for the kids, I have not taken my son to the Breakfast because I can't seem to wake up to go. I took a picture of locations and menu and they have some good things coming up. Also the ladies working in there are very nice and the school cafeteria was clean.

Tehachapi Learning Academy also known as Tila is part of the Tehachapi Unified School District. So the kids enrolled can still go to activities that the Junior high and High school have. So sports, dances, assemblies they are included if that's what interest them. Also they will graduate and walk with the senior class. You have the choice to do some classes at the schools and also at home on the computer. Mine kids did only the online classes and came in once a week to take their tests. If your child is self motivated and disciplined they will really succeed in this program. My daughters only did high school so I can't give a rating or information on elementary or junior high. I will really miss the teachers and secretary at this school. Mrs. Hoffman is so nice and helpful, both my daughters loved her. Nichole at the front desk brightens your day when you go in. She was so good to my daughter. Mrs. Pulford would let my daughter take test in her office because it was quiet in there. I would not change one thing about this school. It was a great experience for our family.

The people, both parents, and faculty, who are drawn here are exceptional. They not only want the very best for their students, but they also want it for society. They want them to thrive together and contribute to this world. From TK through grade eight, this school has it all. If you attended the tour at the open house, you saw the students were out on campus, and the principal, at random, called a few students over. They gave us a tour of the school and talked about all the great activities that happen there. I thought, if my kid could have a fraction of that presence, then he would be well served. The results of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School were on display with radiance. The teachers here care about the students. They are experts who love their craft and endeavor to continuously improve upon it. They are passionate and compassionate mentors. Their philosophy, treatment of kids, and approach to education is exceptional. I encourage anyone curious about it to visit the school. Finially, the students that graduate eighth grade from Our Lady of Perpetual Help are accepted into multiple honor classes at nearby high schools both public and private.
