I realized I totally forgot to leave a review after our wedding last year. We had Alex dj our wedding, and could not have asked for a better DJ! He knew exactly the vibe we were going for. Our wedding was in November and we are still hearing comments about how much fun everyone had, how great the music was, and how they danced more at our wedding than any other wedding they had been to. All of those compliments are a testament to the sheer awesomeness of Desert House Productions. I first spoke with Dave over the phone, explained that we were looking for something simple and not cheesy and we set up the initial meeting to talk details. After that meeting, my (now) husband and I knew that he was our guy. Dave had that perfect combination of of laid-back and professional and really seemed to understand the vibe we wanted to create for our reception. Dave & Drea were very easy to work with, always kept me informed, and seemed to be on top of things, which is a very nice feeling when dealing with the 20 thousand details of a wedding. Quick to offer a suggestion when we needed it or let us do our thing if we had an idea. From the ceremony music to the reception dance party, Dave was on-point making sure that everything went smoothly. I had no worries or questions about how things would go because I knew I could count on him to make sure everything went according to plan; that is a priceless feeling to a bride on her wedding day! I never did get to meet Drea, but I spoke with her a few times on the phone and exchanged a few emails. Overall, I think Dave & Drea are pretty cool cats. I can't say enough how pleased I am with the extraordinary job they did at our wedding and I look forward to getting the opportunity to work with DHP again (i.e. I am looking for a reason to have a big enough party to justify hiring a DJ). read more

Anthony Hart was the DJ for our wedding in November of last year and he was simply phenomenal. So many guests commented about how awesome he was. Some friends of ours that got married about a month before us even went so far as to say that they wish they could have gone back in time and hired Anthony instead of the DJ that they had. Anthony found the perfect balance between hearing our feedback and playing what he thought our guests would like and everything turned out great and the process was very hands off for us. Dave and Drea are an incredible team. They provided the entertainment experience at our company holiday party for 550 guests. Instead of a typical stale dance floor that is typically seen at company events, they kept the dance floor packed and moving the entire night. I seriously don't know how they do it, but they were able to blend the oldies and the new songs that kept everyone of all ages engaged. From initial consult meeting to the end of our event, they truly are professionals and experts in their field. I would highly recommend them to anyone throwing any large event like this. While I was stressed with every detail of the party, I knew I had nothing to worry with them. They brought a lot to the table and suggested many things that made our event even better. As the groom, my "to-do" list was rather short. Number 1 - don't be late to the wedding. Number 2 - pick a badass DJ. Well I only accomplished one of those, and it definitely was NOT the first one. Drea was the perfect DJ for our wedding and I would pick her again 10 times out of 10. She is a true professional and a master of her craft. She set the mood throughout the entire reception with an amazing mix of modern and traditional tunes and seamless transitions. Admittedly, I am rather particular about my music, and I was adamant that our wedding music library expand beyond the Cupid Shuffle and Sweet Caroline (even though I do love Neil Diamond). While interviewing DJ's, it was apparent to me that many of them oversold themselves as being an excellent emcee and did not really concentrate on the music, or did not appear to be up to date on some of the more current music. Drea, on the other hand, presented herself as the entire package: a confident emcee with a fresh sound that every generation could enjoy. For our wedding, we allowed the venue to select the music providers for the reception as we figured, wedding music is wedding music. Don't get me wrong, I have been proven otherwise in the past, but we trusted the coordinators at the venue to know who would be best for us, and they absolutely did! We were originally paired with a different DJ and about 4 months before our wedding, we received notification that DHP would be taking over as our wedding soundtrack musicians. Drea wasted no time in contacting us to get a feel for what style of music really represents us. We immediately had your typical wedding songs and dances off the table and ended up sending Drea about 10 songs, per her request, to give her an idea of what we like. We also shared radio stations and muscial genres and decades as suggestions as well. Just when you think you couldn't have been more vague and Drea couldn't possibly nail down your preferences so that everyone would say "Oh my God, I HAVE to dance to this!" - she did!!! Every single song she played brought excitement and people to the floor. I personally thought, "HOW did she know I love this song? I didn't send this one to her?!?!" She 100% stayed true to our "No way can you play this artist" policy, politely letting our guests know that it was our decision and that we had specifically denied that artist to be played. At no point in time did we feel rushed and Drea was awesome at letting us know what was coming up as far as our timeline and schedule while still letting us get there at an enjoyable pace. The last thing you want at your wedding is to feel ushered from one thing to the next and Drea was amazing at keeping us "in the know" and ready to keep the party in full swing! In summary, if you want an amazing musical backdrop for your event, hire DHP. If you want to chance the success of your music, don't, because Drea will NOT let you down! read more

David and Drea at Desert House Productions get our highest recommendation! Months before our daughter's April wedding we considered all the musical options for a rooftop cocktail reception and a ballroom dinner reception for 220 guests at the Hotel Valley Ho. We wanted the evening to be about our daughter, her husband and our diverse guest list. We wanted the music to coordinate with the elegant mid-century theme of the hotel combined with the youth and fun of the couple. We did NOT want to produce an evening dominated by a single-genre, over-bearing band, or, worse yet, a stereotypical "wedding DJ," doing "money dances." After attending a club where Dave and Drea were performing, we felt they could create the musical ambience we were after--and did they ever. Their work was inobtrusive and sensitive to the pace and mood of the evening, making sure the music was right for what was happening at the moment. The room was conversational when it needed to be and lively when appropriate. And they were professional. Dave and Drea were on-time, equipped and fully prepared. The sound quality and song selections were impeccable. And the live musicians they provided for the sunset cocktail reception on the roof were wonderful, too. In just a couple brief planning meetings Dave and Drea understood the concept for the evening and without any further effort from us, they made it happen. And, having considered so many different options, we know their charges were reasonable, too. We could not have asked for a better experience. My Wife and I had gone to another friends wedding and after a fantastic night full of dancing at a great wedding we both commented on how great the DJ was. A year or so later we found ourselves engaged and planning our own wedding. Both of us knew exactly who we wanted to provide the entertainment for our wedding - Drea! From the get-go it was a super easy process. We communicated with Drea on what type of music we wanted - and what we didn't want. What was great was we already knew what to expect in terms of the overall experience and what type of music would be played. Nothing corny or stereotypical, just great modern music that everybody enjoyed. Exactly what we wanted. Another great benefit of using Desert House is the lighting and dancefloors that they can provide. We chose to do uplighting and their LED dancefloor. All of the lights are coordinated so it creates a great overall look. The pictures of our first dance as well as the rest of the night looked awesome with the lighting coming up from underneath. Overall I can't recommend Desert House enough. They provide a great service and kept people on the dancefloor the entire night. My wife and I hired Desert House Productions for our wedding in Sedona, Arizona. Dave DJ'd our wedding and did an absolutely incredible job! Not only did he keep the dance floor rocking all night with tunes perfectly suited for the reception, but he also did a phenomenal job managing and transitioning between all of the "key moments" (father-daughter dance, sit-down dinner, cutting of the cake, etc.). Desert House also handled all of our interactions with them very professionally. Dave consulted with my wife and I prior to the wedding in order to determine the sound/reception flow we were looking for. Their contract was straight forward and billing was painless. On the big day, Dave set everything up and came dressed to impress. He even let our officient use his audio equipment for the ceremony. But it wasn't until the reception that he really shined. He kept the dance floor alive the entire night. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun! I can't say enough good things about Desert House Productions. Dave and Drea were the best choice we ever made for our wedding. They created a perfect atmosphere that left people saying this was the best wedding they had ever been to. From helping us pick out the key songs to making the night run smoothly, they were priceless! We didn't have to worry about anything during the reception, they kept things running smoothly and knew when it would be best to do the next thing on the timeline. They coordinated all of the toasts and elements like the tossing of the bouquet and the first dance. We did a special first dance with a slow first song that went into a faster song and they pulled it off perfectly. The dance floor was never empty because they read the audience and knew exactly what the play next to keep people engaged. We gave them a variety of songs we liked and they ran with those ideas. While they played some of the more contemporary songs we love, they also had a great way to include songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's to keep the older adults engaged. They don't simply press play on an iPod, they artfully intertwine songs together and weave oldies with newer hits. They were also helpful in recommending vendors they have worked with which made the wedding planning that much easier. Out of all of the vendors from our wedding, professional DJ's were definitely at the top of our list and Desert House Productions should be number one on your list. read more

We decided early on that music was going to be one of the most important parts of our evening so we really searched for a DJ that "got us'. We were able to meet with Dave in person to really go over what we were looking for in a DJ. He then had us meet with Anthony Hart who was our DJ the night of our event. The whole process was super easy and Desert House Productions was always very professional. The night of the event was amazing and all of our guests have been raving about how much fun they had. The music was the right mix of indie stuff that we love and the more popular hits that get people on the dance floor! And there were no obnoxious "typical" wedding songs (i.e. YMCA, chicken dance, etc!) Anthony was fun to watch as he mixed the music and really seemed to enjoy what he does. When we met Dave and Drea at a small coffee shop in North Phoenix a few months before the wedding, they made us feel extremely comfortable with our decision to have them DJ our wedding. Being that my wife and I are pretty laid back, we left most of the song selection in their capable hands. We talked a little bit about the type of music we listened and about a few songs we really wanted them to play. That was all it took for them to compile a spectacular evening of music. And we were not disappointed. It just so happened that our wedding day was one of the coldest and wettest days on record in Phoenix. However, no one would have guessed it by the way everything turned out. And we have Drea and Dave to thank for that. From the first moment they got there until the moment they left, we could tell they loved their job and that they enjoyed being there, for us. They knew the order of the night's events, from the first dance, to the cake cutting, to the timing of the last song. But more than that, I can honestly say that what they knew best was what kind of music to play to keep everyone on the dance floor for 4 hours...straight. If they felt they were losing the crowd a little bit, they would invariably switch to something different. They did such a good job that people are still coming back to us with how amazed they were at how many people danced for as long as they did. We have heard things like, "I have never danced that long at any wedding," and "I have never seen that many people on the dance floor for that long!"
