What an unexpected gem to stumble upon on your way to Big Bend National Park. The Pizza of the Month was absolute perfection - arugula, sausage, mushrooms, and vodka sauce on sourdough. Hopefully they make this a permanent menu item as tomorrow will be the first of the month and I definitely want to grab a bite of it on my way back home to Houston. P.S. I stumbled across Desert Ghost Distilling Company in Marathon,Texas and I'm glad I did, the old fashions they make hands-down the best I've ever had. It's the kind of place that feels laid-back, serious about good spirits the kind of spot you don't forget after you've been. Very fun place, and the drinks are fantastic. They know how to offer great service. Our home town needs a place like this

We grabbed a pizza next door and a couple of delicious drinks at the bar, Bastard Bourbon on rocks for my husband, a chicka for me, our kiddos (7 and 4) shared a Pepperoni Classic from Ghost Fire Pizza (opens at 4 on Wednesdays) and the hubby and I shared a High Desert Hawaiian. The pizza was delicious, nice crispy wood fire taste. The kids almost ate the whole pepperoni. Ambiance is nice and chill vibes, staff was super welcoming with the kiddos. I wish we would have ventured outside earlier, but we finally did after pizza to enjoy our drinks and it was absolutely lovely. Fire pit would be super inviting had it been cooler outside, however it being slightly on the warmer side, the shade and swing on the patio was perfect. There were a few scooters outside that the kids enjoyed. All in all we had an absolutely perfect time. We went home with a bottle of the Bastard Bourbon. They also have local honey and some T-shirt and hat merch for sale. Note - they do not have beer / wine as it is a whisky, bourbon, vodka distillery, but the cocktails were fantastic! read more
