Best jerky E-V-E-R. Located on 360 just north of Barton Creek Mall, this is a must stop for the jerky lover. You can sample each product before purchasing. My favorites are the chipotle and the hatch chile variety. FYI, the habanero is deadly spicy. Get the beef, the turkey is dry. The jerky is refrigerated and has great flavor with some tooth. I found Bruce on yelp! when I was looking to send someone some beef jerky and he called me within a few hours of sending him an email (plus in my book). Honestly, I was thinking "Hmm I'm giving a person my credit card info that I've never met in hopes he is going to send what I ordered...what could go wrong?!" We seen this place off Hwy 360 numerous times. When my cousin and his son arrived in Austin. His son said he wanted some real Beef Jerky. This place immediately came to my mind. We attempted to drive out here during the middle of the week and couldn't find the truck or display. SO I came online and found out they were only out off the 360 on the weekends. We got out here off the 360 on a Saturday we actually made it to his display at 450 pm ...Barely seeing he closes at 5 pm. When we got out here we found out they no longer carries Buffalo jerky. He offered Samples of everything he had available for sale. We settled on Peppered Beef for our 1st time. The package was $8.00. The pepper was not over powering you could enjoy and taste the beef. It wasn't too salty. Nice and chewy and not to hard. Best part of it was the Thick serving portions were great sizes. We are looking forward to going back and taking advantage of the discount if you buy 3 packages. Next time I plan to try a more spicier blend. 1 package for the kids, 1 package for everyone and 1 package for the spice lover in me. For those who are lucky they do Deliver to certain areas. They also offer shipping on the website I am giving it only 3 stars because the lack there of ease to get to and the price. I have been buying Desert Blend jerky for over 5 years now. Whenever I see that they are selling I will always stop to grab a few bags. The texture is amazing, soft enough to chew but tough enough that you will chew each bite for a while, which gives you a lot of flavor in the process. I have tried every flavor and I enjoy them all, however, my go-to's are the Regular, Jalapeno, and Chipotle flavors. There are several jerky-loving men in our family and I love buying local. Unfortunately, our local shop is too often out of jerky, which is what happened yesterday when I wanted a birthday gift. After an online search turned up Desert Blend in Pflugerville, I took a chance and emailed Bruce. He responded quickly and was able to meet me this morning to deliver every one of the flavors I requested. He wouldn't even accept the generous tip I offered for the last-minute arrangements! So, I bought more jerky. Bruce is outstanding in customer service! Since the jerky is a gift, I will ask the recipient to leave a review here or give me feedback on the flavors so I can update the review. The address stated on yelp says Desert Blend Beef Jerky is located in Pflugerville Tx. But, after reading a few reviews I realized these are the guys that sell beef jerky from a stand on the side of the road off of 360, near Barton Creek Mall. I called to make sure they were still out there at 3:00 pm on a cold Sunday afternoon (they were). And, off I went. The man running the stand let me try pieces from all of his jerky samples (not just beef). They were all super good! I purchased 2 bags of the original flavor beef jerky(very, very good) and one bag of chipotle (still very good, but I think original was best). The jerky was AMAZING. Wonderfully spiced and dehydrated to perfection. I was sad that they were out of the Hatch chili flavor that I read so much about on yelp. Next time maybe I can pick some up. I took the jerky with me on a 13 hour road trip. Everyone who tried it loved it. By the time I had to make the return trip I was all out of yummy Desert Blend Beef Jerky. So, I bought the beef jerky in a bag (the black and red package sold at most gas stations. What's that brand?) from a convenience store. It was sad, disgusting tasting, and something from its long list of hard to pronounce ingredients made my stomach hurt. I learned my lesson. Only fresh beef jerky made with only the best ingredients from now on for me. Since being tipped off about Desert Blend jerky from Alicia K last month, I've pulled off 360 three times to load up on this stuff. I bought 10 bags this last time... I'll soon need an intervention. I love their Chipotle beef variety and the Hatch beef is also great. Even though I'm good with hot-spicy food in general, the Habernero beef is too much for me to handle. My supplier, I mean the owner/salesman, says he takes pride in how hot it is and gives fair warning by offering a sample before selling it. read more

The owner is really great! I left an order request on the website with a note stating that I'd be unavailable to answer calls at certain points of the day. He called me the next day (for a confirmation) during the time range I'd listed. He offered to meet my boyfriend and me at locations convenient to all of us, and came prepared with nice-sized sample packets (all delicious). The jerky texture is great across the board - thick and chewy but not impossibly so. The regular beef is very flavorful and peppery though I prefer the chipotle since it's got a little heat. The habanero was way too much for me but my boyfriend loved it. For me I only write reviews for two reasons great product/service or horrible product/service I firmly believe the majority of people will fall in between the majority of the time. This review is because of a great product!!! I am a military vet and I am working in Iraq. My wife found this guy and decided to buy me some to send me some. 5 different flavors she sent me. I have tried 4 so far regular, chipotle, spicy, and one he calls Habanero. I have renamed Habanero to fire mouth of death.... We will get to that later. When I first tried regular my first thought was it was too salty. But I am guessing that he marinades his jerky by hand because the rest of the bag was great. It had a good flavor and wasn't too tough. Chipotle was a little spicy and plenty of flavor. It's the kind of jerky you'd love to have in the field or while hiking. A good cold drink to go with it would be nice. Spicy was about as spicy as chipotle but not as flavorful. That is not saying it wasn't tasty. It was GREAT taste awesome but you can tell they use a few more ingredients to make chipotle. No this is my posted review of it: Fire mouth of death!!! Aka Habanero. This was HOT!!! I took a bite and started to chew. First thought was wow this is good. About 2.3 seconds later a feeling came over my body I can't say if this was shock or panic but it was something!!! For the next few minutes I tried to get what felt like napalm off my tongue. I tried water (nope) milk (nope) (full sweat by now...) I wiped my tongue on a washcloth (nope) had a bite sized snickers with in reach put it on my tongue and let it sit there. I can't tell you if the snickers worked or my body started shutting down. I do know when I "came to" I had a chocolate droll and a slight burning in my mouth still. I have not touched the bag again. If you love HOT this is perfect and I will try it again but it's not for the faint of heart!!! Next will be Jalapeño and I expect it to be as great as the rest. All in all I'd say buy this product. He really needs to be marketed on a bigger scale maybe go on Shark Tank. If the don't give him an offer he should give them Habanero as a parting gift read more

The address is a little misleading - this is the same guy that's parked on the side of 360 on Saturdays (& some Sundays). He's a very nice guy that is perfectly willing to let you sample any of the flavors. My personal favorite is the chipotle stuff (turkey especially).
