This guy committed fraud sold me a car with a motor that burned 3 quarts of oil in 500 miles had to…read moreput a new motor and needed a catalytic cover. So far I replaced a motor catalytic converter and now transmission. He doesn't do a once over on cars before he buys them and doesn't give a shit that u can't get to work. I'm very disappointed in this heartless car dealer. When u spend 10,000 and in a week want to give it back u can't. This really needs to change for people that are buying cars. The fraud department said unless he admits to the fraud I can't prove it. U know the mechanics aren't going to tell on them selves so I'm screwed. If anyone out know how to prove fraud let me know please.

"your car just needs a new ac compressor, $1800"…read more interesting- i had brought it in for overheating and an oil leak. i don't care about the ac, and don't usually use it- why does that matter if it's off? "the ac compressor uses the same belt as the water pump, so it's the problem". um, ok. what about the oil leak? "we can't diagnose that until you fix the AC, because it's in the way and all" cool. not gonna sink that money in, so pay $140 diag fee, start driving the 20m to my home deep in the desert. immediately notice that there's no power steering. as i'm getting within a mile of my destination it stalls. low battery. pop the hood, and two interesting things pop out to me: 1. the a/c is on its own dedicated belt. nothing else. you could remove it and disable ac but prevent any of the other issues. i did not need to pay for an ac compressor to fix or diagnose anything else. they could have just pulled the belt. 2. there's a second belt, that's goes to both the power steering and the alternator. it is completely missing. turns out it was sitting in the back seat. fortunately my friend wasn't far behind me. we jumped it for a bit to get the battery good enough to go back down the hill. they did refund the diag fee, which was nice.

Recently Moved to Joshua Tree from San Diego and blew the motor on my van pulling a trailer too…read moreheavy for my vehicle. Vehicle was old and tired so decided to buy another rather than pay a mechanic $6K to replace the motor of a vehicle with 280,000 miles on it.. Just bought a 2012 van with 62k miles on it from American Auto Dealers today for $2k less than I could have bought it anywhere else. I plugged my computer with a very good diagnostic program into the van's computer before I bought it to see if there was something hinky with it that wouldn't be obvious on a test drive. The readings on the diagnostic program during the test drive were as good those on a new car. Van came with Carfax info sheet that listed 26 service records for the van. All service was only for maintenance while under warranty to keep the warranty valid, nothing else. I read Yelp reviews for American Auto Dealers before I went there. There were very good reviews with a few very bad ones. I read both good and bad. I know from having been in business myself that you can't please everyone and then there are those who are just haters who seem to get a kick out of putting others down for whatever psychological deficiency they have that drives them to do such a thing. All the cars are clearly marked that they are sold AS IS. Not one of the people who wrote bad reviews stated that they had made the effort to do a proper inspection of the car or took it to a reputable mechanic to have it inspected before they purchased it. I say too bad for them if they weren't happy with what they got. Sonny is a VERY personable person to deal with as well. I purchased an excellent vehicle at an exceptionally fair price. VERY happy camper here. Thank you Sonny.
