GETTING HERE: I searched my navigation for the nearest Deseret Book and arrived here. Yelp has the address correct, and it's located in a little strip mall next to the Walking Comfort Store and across the lot from In-N-Out. REVIEW: I visited Utah and knew I needed to prioritize a visit to Deseret Book. The selection and setup are incredible! There's so much to choose from, including books, artwork, stickers, figurines, etc., etc. I could have spent hours here. Truly. The service was pretty good, and oh, how I wish I lived closer to one. Of course, there is the website to purchase items, but there's nothing quite like the experience of perusing a bookstore and enjoying the vibe. This was a great visit! I know that Utah has LDS Bookstores on every corner, HAHA, but this location is a great time, all around. Overall value isn't too bad, either. Cough, it's 2025, but nothing outrageous compared to the rest of the world's prices. Come give them a visit! read more

Most people in these parts know what to expect from the "Deseret" name: Deseret News is a newspaper with an LDS focus; Deseret Industries is Goodwillesque with an LDS focus; and Deseret Book is reading material with and LDS focus. Let me start with my favorite part: the baking mixes. You heard that right: In the section labeled "Parley Street Emporium", you will find Lion House mixes. I'm not Mormon, but I sure love the Lion House Pantry Restaurant, and, although it may be blasphemy to say it, the Lion House mixes are the Crown Jewels of Deseret Book. World Famous Roll Mix, Wheat Roll Mix, Raspberry and Blueberry Muffin Mix, and Brownie Mix ... all only $3.33 for more than a pound of mix. Now to the other stuff. An out-of-towner will say "oh, a book store" and not really know the Mormon focus. In history, in fiction, in kids books: While you will find some of the titles you may find in a Barnes & Noble, it's HEAVY on the LDS focus. The least affected is the kids section, where almost anyone can go in and find a book. It definitely has a bookstore vibe, with comfy chairs for chilling and reading. It is, however, tailor-made for LDSers: Books of Mormon, Apostle biographies and history, Temple art, Jesus art, and LDS Distribution Center, a Tabernacle Choir-centic music selection, ties, book bags, and so forth. There's also the "Zions Mercantile Co." section, a cool collection of antiquey-looking stuff. Much of the stuff doesn't carry any religious label. Definitely worth a visit, even if you aren't part of the church. read more

I did curbside pick for the distribution center. I will not be going back to this location. When I called the location to pick up my order, the employee said he would go look for it and never came back to the phone to let me know if he found it. I waited for five minutes and the employee got back on the phone and asked if I had been helped. I told him I was waiting for someone to find my order and get it via curbside pickup. The employee told me he had been outside for four minutes waiting for me. I told him I was parked in the pickup area where the curbside pickup signs where. He told me I needed to pull up the the curbside. I drove over the the front of the store and apologized to him and said I had misunderstood and had been in the curbside pickup area location. He said the curbside area was not for them and curbside pickup meant curbside pickup in front of the store. He threw my items into my car's passenger window and walked off without saying a word. I called the manager to let her know about this incident and told I wanted to let her so she would not lose more business. I explained to her this incident did not want to make me shop at this location again. She did apologize for the employee's behavior, which I appreciated. I will be going to another location for my next visit. read more

If a six star rating were a thing, my experience would be six stars for sure. My wife and I made a recent purchase with a Deseret Book gift card. The gift card originally had $100, on it. Our purchase was a smaller purchase and at the end of the transaction that Deseret Book Employee threw our gift card away. I wasn't aware of the amount that was left on the gift card, and we left the store. It wasn't until almost two weeks later that we realized there was $45, left on the gift card that was discarded. I figured that there was no way that we would ever get that money back, but I thought that it was worth a try. In today's world it's hard to be taken seriously in these types of situations. I called the store and explained the whole situation and we were treated with nothing but kindness and understanding. The employee did not have a direct solution to our problem and assured me that a manager would reach out to me to address my concerns. The manager Seth gave me a call and was willing to look into the easiest way to take care of us. He was able to pull up a transaction history and after a few phone calls to other Deseret Book Stores, we got a phone call saying that there would be a $45 gift card waiting for us at the front desk that we could pick up any time. This was truly not the outcome that we were expecting but it was the best case scenario. Thank you Seth and Desert Book!! read more
